Hey House lovers and explorers! Back out in the country for another explore of an old farm house and this one had lots to see as there were many things left behind including old 60`s model Holden Ute! . Last occupied in the early 90`s it seems to have originally started as a smaller cottage with 2 side rooms added a few years later. Absolute peaceful and picturesque spot where it sits so I hope you all enjoy the explore! Cheers for watching :-) Check out Werner`s Adventures here- / @wernersadventures8330

That first bedroom has almost what they call “haint” blue ceiling. In the US south they would paint the ceiling of the front porch that color to keep away ghosts. Especially on the big wraparound porches. The interior of that Holden looked a lot like my grandmother’s 1964 Ford Falcon. They also had a body style like that as well as a 4 door sedan. It had a straight 6 and was the choice of the California Highway Patrol that year.

EJ has a bonnet badge, EH does not. This is an EJ and will have a 138 grey motor in it

It's a lovely old EH ute, late 63-64. They used the EJ tail lights and rear panels on the EH ute and panel van, basically the same body shell with the restyled EH front fenders and grill. And of course the major difference, EH had the first of the red motors and EJ had the last of the greys. Believe it or not I brought an EH wagon back to life I dragged out of a paddock in worse condition.

@@VCCOMMAbsolutely. EJ grille and the EJ speedo only went up to 100 with the old side valve engine. Same tail lights on the ute and panel van as the EH ute and van as you know. Cheers.

Yes, recognise the Charles Hope refrigerator. We had one in the NT on a cattle station in 1958 through 1962. Sure brought back memories. Those wire bed bases and Kapok mattresses too. Dust catches big time!!.😅

That ute reminds me of the old TV series ‘The Outsiders’ from the 70’s. Old Charlie and Pete travelling outback Australia in their Holden ute and finding trouble everywhere they go. Dad and myself used to watch it together, great memories. Somebody managed to find the series on video and digitised and uploaded them to RU-vid recently. Worth the watch if you’re a nostalgic old bugger like me. 😊

I’d never heard of the Charles Hope brand either but I searched online and found a Museum Victoria page that states it was one of the very few Australian fridge manufacturers in the 1940s. Based in Brisbane. The fridge would come up a treat if restored! And the Holden Ute. Shame the family didn’t appreciate vintage items when the elderly parents would have left the house. Beautiful ceilings. Looks like the house has good bones and could be restored. On another note, I’m viewing after having a crazy busy few months and note you now bring a friend and no longer visit alone 👍🏽 keep up the good work, Paul. P.S. thanks for moving the lizard.

Happy Sunday morning house lovers! ❤ Thanks Paul 🌻🙂 Fun Fact. That's definitely an EJ but believe it or not, here in Tasmania they would tell you it's an EH! And yes, compliance plates state that the vehicle was produced in 1964. So they're technically right. So the taillights persisted in the state of Tasmania for an extra year 🙂 I much prefer the EH taillights myself.

All EH panel vans and utes used the EJ body shells with the restyled EH front end and red motors. HD and HR utes and panel vans were the same, both used the HD body shells with HD tail lights and tailgates. One of those cost saving things I guess.
@sandrahealey6385
@sandrahealey6385 3 месяца назад
So it was only panel vans and utes? I've been confused by this for ages! Thanks for setting me straight!! I'd only had a sedan and station wagon, and growing up in Vic probably saw few of those versions. A nice lightbulb moment for me 🤣❤️💡💡💡

@@sandrahealey6385 Not a problem. The EH has always been a favourite since I was a kid when my grandfather owned one. I restored/rebuilt an EH station wagon I scull dragged out of a paddock with grass growing inside, along the roof and through the floor. Still plenty around back then so I was able to basically rebuild and replace every bit of sheet metal and panels and six months later it was almost a new car. I still think about the day I sold it with regret and that was 30 odd years ago.

The layout seems quite weird, you have the original area of four rooms, then in the newer add on, that front room didn’t connect to the rest of the house (only an outside door). Then the back of the add on had a hallway (why a hallway with only one room opening off it?) with only one door going to the add on back room which didn’t connect via an inside door to any of the other rooms. Make me think maybe there was several generations living there?

Another good explore, Paul. :-) The mileage on the EJ (definitely- the grille is EJ, not EH) ute odometer is more likely 52,5xx miles; the final / sixth digit was for 10ths of a mile because there was no separate trip meter. It’s likely to have been a few times around, so *some* number of 100,000 miles, but unlikely 520,000. The Alfa-Laval @ 25:00 is a cream separator. The resultant cream would be churned into butter, and commonly the remaining skim milk would go the pig troughs (where it belonged; I hate milk, probably because I was born and raised on dairy farms).

I’m guessing the farm industry is a dying trade where are you live because I’ve noticed that you do a lot of old rule homes especially farm houses and I’m guessing that you live in Australia and if that’s the case, I seen a lot of other you tubers that videos from Australia that also go around to a lot of abandoned farms given I’m assuming the land is probably not very fertile for any kind of feed crop growing for cows so most feed has to be imported could be totally all wet
@fasteddie9201
@fasteddie9201 3 месяца назад
The agricultural industry here is busy boom depending on the seasons. Cereal cropping can be a record year followed by a record loss but the good years are usually sufficient to carry over drought or flood years. The houses are usually the original farmhouse and are left abandoned after a more modern dwelling is built or the property is bought up by a neighbour or someone else for the land only. The houses are usually surplus and not needed or just too far gone to house workers.

Farms get bigger as machinery and processes need less and less manpower. So there might be several 640acre (1 square mile) farms amalgamated over time, some wheat and sheep farms end up being several thousand acres. This house might have been used as shearers quarters seasonally for some years before being finally abandoned in the '90s.

@@fasteddie9201 that’s sad because this is a perfectly good house in my opinion to live in with minimal work and I would buy a place like this and fix it up because there are people all over the world that could use a home to live in that don’t have anything and it’s sad to see abandoned homes, but I totally understand when it comes to farming and having to upgrade your equipment so you can make your process betterbecause farming is a income and not a profit

@@fasteddie9201 at least farming seems to be an income and not a profit here in the United States. I’m assuming it’s probably the same for your country at least here in the United States. It seems like farming is a dying industry unless you can go commercial that’s where it’s at.

@@Ellenslife851 The last property I had was an old stone homestead similar to the ones on his videos (around the same area). I used to see so many just sitting falling apart and going to waste. I hated seeing them sitting neglected and unused.

You should carry gloves with you and masks. Just in case you want to touch something with bird poop on. A mask would be good for you, so you wouldn't get bird poop dust in your lungs. You mean to tell me you don't want to eat old peanuts 🤣🤣🤮
