Forgotten Football Grounds | Boothferry Park
Tonight I do another forgotten Football Ground and this time it is Boothferry Park, the former ground of Hull City between 1946-2002.

56 years must be one of the shortest timespans for a ground in FL history. It looks like virtually nothing was done to it from the day it opened till the day it was demolished (apart from halving a terrace to build a supermarket).

It is a very short time compared to the other grounds I have done.

Brilliant. Thank you. I was a student in Hull 93-96. I loved BP. In those times it felt like a ground past it’s best in a city that loved Rugby league. Genuinely I rarely saw anyone where a Hull city shirt! I thought the south stand was imposing! It was functional and angular; if there’d been a footy stadium in ‘A clock work orange’ this would have been it. Up the Tigers

When I went to Hull I definitely felt it were more of a Rugby League town. I didn't see anyone wearing any Hull City paraphernalia, lots of people wearing Hull F.C. kits though

Only visited once New Years day 1990. Definitely seemed run down at the time but then I think most grounds were by that point until the Taylor Report, especially clubs that weren't having the best of times. Still have fond memories of the day if not the result!

I enjoyed it Sometimes must one say that some stadiums were very old and you needed to rebuild or refresh them Little strange that such a big city as Hull hadn’t played in the top league until recently

I think the fact Hull is also a Rugby League city has something to do with it.

No I missed that Rugby is a popular spot even if I do not understand the difference between rugby league and rugby union

I live in Hull but support Leeds which doesn't go down well lol, all thanks to my Grandad. Boothfery Park was a great old stadium and the pitch was always immaculate. The stadium was much better than the new one shared by Hull City and Hull FC . Keep up the good work pal. 👍

Nice video i like to see the history of the old grounds even though they had seen better days compared to new stadiums. I hope you do some more. All the best.

Good video mate. A good one to do would be Sealand Road, Chester City's old ground

I just notice with the WC content that the video gets lost or swamped amongst a sea of other videos because there are so many people (hundreds) covering the same match. And with most of them they show the game or highlights, something I wouldn't risk doing.

From a 1970's children's TV show. He was a Saxon wizard who, whilst being pursued by Roman soldiers, fell through a gap in the space/time continuum and was transported to modern times. I vaguely resemble him, but not as much as the U.S. musician, J. Mascis (out of 'Dinosaur Jr.) resembles me. Up The Gas!
