What a treat to find this and on his pensa suhr aswell... i was so fortunate to see him with steps ahead in the 80’s. I must have been about 12 when my dad took me along. Started playing bass quickly after that. He played a bright red Moon bass then. But like most great players it didn’t really matter what he played on.
Absolute giant of the bass and a tragic loss. Thank you for posting and thanks for your own brilliant inspirational grooves Anthony. You are indeed a player of rare ability.
Victor Bailey was not afraid to make mistakes or sound a little bit sloppy at times. And regardless of that he still sounded great! The other guy laid out a facinating groove and had a beautiful tone and some of those fills were tastefully funky.
yes, i saw him live and he didn't look worried at all. i mean music has to flow, something great happens and something not. just like life. Victor was great up to his end here. he showed deep love and respect for life. what breaks my heart is when someone knows that he had to go, and he left too soon for all the ones who loved him
Tastiest jams on the Planet! I would be great to have the backing track alone (posted as an url), so we could try those lines on our own, anyone agrees? :)
+bluecrueful i was saying that Bailey doesn't even put a little bit of effort in his playing here, nor he is trying to... like Anthony isn't worthy enough for him to even break a sweat.. I though it was pretty rude.. my opinion
+George Kurt Hey George - you probably (obviously) don't know that Victor has CMT disease and stopped playing live soon after this video was shot. You may want to revise your uninformed opinion.
+jdistefa2 Fuck.. i was not informed about his condition.. I am a big fan of his work and i got most of his albums, I just thought he was not giving a shit in the video.. are you sure he quit permanently? no more albums from him?
no offense, but i think you must develop something as a listener. Victor was a great spontaneous improviser, and one of the best around on electric bass. anyway here he wasn't having a easy time, he was ill already, but his great musicality was still intact. Rip Victor, we miss You.
