Ayan Mao idk it’s true though. my journey started in 2002 with wanting to get a GameCube cause Sonic, Kirby, and Mario were on it and they were in cartoons I liked
"How to get into Persona" would be a good video for Austin to make, in case he reads comments. I've always wanted to but when I look into which game in the series I should start with I don't find much agreement.
jamalocaust I would recommend watching SuperButterBuns and her “for beginners” for the different persona games. The general consensus I see is 4 golden or 5 though.
@@jamalcalypse I'd say go with Persona 3 Portable, that's how I started because you'll appreciate the others more Then moved to Persona 4 then back to Persona 3 FES and after that the whole lineup of SMT games
You forgot to mention the best part about the Transformers game: You fight Megatron inside an active volcano and he can perform a powerbomb so over the top and ridiculous on you that Metal Gear Rising wishes it had done something like it.
i only playe like two of the army men games, the one where you play as Sarge and the one where you play as his daughte who travels through a magical portal
@@sarafontanini7051 Army Men Sarge's And Portal Runner. And Portal Runner lead was Vikki Grimm. Sarges love interest and Colonel Grimm daughter. God why do I remember this...
I loved the after-image you left behind whenever you dashed. And killing multiple enemies at once, god that was satisfying. Shame the voice acting was awful.
I remember seeing all these games on x-play, wonderful nostalgia. The ps2 era was the bright burning star of the japanese game dev industry, before the hd era brought them to their knees. They made such a wide and creative berth of games and it really felt like anything was possible in games. The ps2 is the best console of all time.
I won that Transformers game, One of the UK magazines had the change of it being inside the sealed bag the magazine was in, I checked the ones at the store and one was slightly heavier than the rest. Turned out the CD was inside. No case or case sleep, just CD, cardboard cd sleeve and manual!
Austin, I like ya, but for the love of the gods, please play Steambot Chronicles. It was also published by Atlus and you use mechs to travel the world/fight. I love this jrpg please man
can he review a series that mostly is mix bag? people like it or hate it, I kind dip in both, i like some games, hate others especially later ones, i liked first two games especially second one because i love NepGear, i like sisters far more
i know only the super neptunia in ps4... that game super mindfuck and crazy something rpg like whatever from Japan xddd i love it xdddd The protogonist girl ( Nep ) super kawaii xddd
Great video, used to love the way of the samurai games. They actually just announced a new one last week.... well kinda it's a spin off in the same universe called "Katanakami" looks like they are giving it the divinity treatment by switching to top down.
Urban Chaos : Riot Response is such an awesome game, it's a first person shooter with real life cutscenes and awesome slow-mo cutscenes when you land a headshot on an enemy, it has many weapons to use, upgrades and stuff, i love it! It has it's few flaws but it's so much fun to play! Give it a try. Also, just look up the box art... It's badass. Also sorry for my bad english 😅
Skygunner looks like a 3d Twinbee game. Im surprised they never went to 3d, that series has a lot of charm; from colourful cloud bells for powerups, bouncy animations, sunny music and wierd enemies. There was a reason it topped the snes game charts.
Yeah its/was an amazing game. It wasn't exactly innovative and it was a little on the shorter side. But it was dammed well executed and had a beautiful art style and story.
@@jilly9437 Haha yes he is. I had to google how to defeat him when I replayed the game a couple months ago. The really annoying part is that you can't save after defeating Taira Kiyomori so you cant really trial and error your way to defeat Kagekiyo(final boss). You have to defeat both of them in one sitting and be effective enough against Kiyomori so you have buffs and potions leftovers for Kagekiyo. its really frustrating but feels good and rewarding when you finally beat the game.
@@gentlesirpancakebottoms6692 yes, the guy that locks himself up in a magic bubble and throws elemental attacks. I am currently trying to beat that boss fight and I am saving money to buy all the resurrection and health items I can carry. I am also level 27 but I don't know if it's enough.
@Winged Mirage Same lol I don't remember if I beat the second, but I know I played the first one into the ground getting all the cards and fairy things
ZetaGammaFigma I never got the second one. Either I couldn’t find it anywhere or there were other games I just wanted more.Maybe I’ll track it down someday. I remember I always liked using the super strong dragons that were linked to you by life force, so when they took damage you took damage. Looking back it really wasn’t the best card, but the idea of me being linked to a dragon was the most awesome thing ever to 13 year old me.
@Winged Mirage My most distinct memory was of the Doppelganger card. Because when you use it you summon a copy of yourself, but your copy just wanders around like an idiot. So when I first used it, I was like wtf and walked into her thinking I could push her toward an enemy, but the doppelganger apparently kills the first thing she touches, which includes you, so I died lol
Don’t forget about the Tom and jerry fighting game. I remembered that was so super rare cause they’re was so little copies made. In my opinion it was on of the best games that I ever played when I was a kid growing up. If it is or isn’t on the list. I wish I had that game again 😭
I really wish you would have talked about the Xenosaga trilogy. Man those games are so underrated. I totally agree with the inclusion of the 2004 Transformers game. It's a great licensed game and easily has some of the best graphics I've ever seen on the PlayStation 2. Even though the resolution and frame-rate are absolute crap... no seriously, the developers even tried to make up for the horrible frame rate using some sort of over the top motion blur.
Just yesterday, I came to the channel and thought "Austin hasn't uploaded a video in a month." Then you post this the following day. I don't know why I was so impatient. I remember that Transformers game. My cousin bought a PS2 and I believe he rented that game. I only saw like 5 minutes of it but I thought it looked awesome. Mainly because I never seen a Transformers game, at that point and I love the Transtormers. When I read the title, I thought of Rogue Galaxy. Mainly because I started playing it a day ago and I never heard of that game until 2 or 3 months ago. If I never heard of it, then it's forgotten.
Austin: What about a game with a licence that no one remembers? Me: (Gets hopes up) Austin: Anyone heard of CyGirls? Me: (Sad Tak trilogy fanboy noises)
18:05 Holy crap! I did not expect either Way of the Samurai nor Fantasy Life music! Nice selection on both fronts my dude. (Edit) Also, glad to see you are a man of culture regarding your cheeses.
SO THAT'S SKYGUNNER!!! God I used to see this in the local rental store like ALL THE TIME and never figured that it would come close to being this, would have picked it up if I had known back then
Odin Sphere needs more love. It was hard and grindy, but it was fun and had a pretty neat story. I think it got a remake on Xbox 360 but it still didn’t get much attention
It’s not a really a “dead” series, but the game Ace Combat 4 on the PS2 is the most nostalgic game I’ve ever played, with the amazing soundtrack, and some realistic aspects.
The Transformers PS2 game had a twist that caught me super off guard. There's the level where you start on that island with the aircraft carrier nearby. When I saw it I was immediately like "Oh crap it's Tidal Wave". Then you go inside the carrier, fighting the Decepticon clones and stuff and I was all "Oh I guess it's just an aircraft carrier, Tidal Wave wouldn't let you go inside him" Then you get to the end of the stage and he starts transforming and it's just the biggest oh shit moment followed by a boss fight that I remember being a pretty spicy difficulty spike.
You really deserve so much more subscribers, bud. Your editing is great and every video you make has such a fun theme. Cant wait to see more! You rule.
Technically way of the samurai got two spiritual successors one on PS3 and the other on Vita, but they were never given English releases, but a lot of the combat and branching stuff is present in both.
The fact that you use Danganronpa and Mystical Ninja/Goemon music is a trivial but genuine reason why you're such a fun RU-vidr. That aside, this is a fun topic! I had an obscure samurai slasher game, and you talk about some samurai games. Did the PS2 have a thing for samurai's?
Ah, I saw a playthrough of Way of the Samurai. It looked fun. Never played it though. Haven't played any of these honestly. Cy Girls is clearly the one to pick up though.
Nice. I love videos about forgotten games. It spreads the awareness. There's something to learn from the hidden gems. And even those that aren't hidden gems, but were forgotten anyway. As long as they're not completely crap that is. 9:35 dude, I remember that game! It's cool. I love the visuals. 17:00 Ninja girl is way better 20:20 you mean fifteen-sixteen hundreds?
Oh my god, SkyGunner looks exactly like something I would adore. Kind of reminds me of Zwei by Falcom aesthetically. Thank you Austin, now I know the next obscure-ass PS2 game I'm picking up when I've gotten through the stack of obscure-ass PS2 games I have built up.
You used the 80s transformers movie song. I’m here to tell you you’ve become the top best RU-vidr in the universe. You got the f****kng touch. Why did optimus had to die :(
That flight-esque game reminds me of Tail Concerto another Atuls published game. Also, props for featuring 2XL in that commercial. Maybe I'll get myself one for xmas 🤘
I HAD THAT TRANSFORMERS GAME! The anime used to air in syndication on local TV channels here at the time, and it was pretty hype to have the game based on it.
"The stages of the game will also be based on, famous battles, which actually took place in ancient Japan." Huh, that's pretty in- "So here's this giant enemy crab." *WHAT?!* .........WHAT THE F***?!
Listening to the music in the background of your videos takes me back. Star Ocean 2, that weird Gundam Wing fighting game I played a rom of because it was Japan-only.
