So true, its funny sometimes I just start shooting bad and can't figure it out. I always go back to my shot sequence. Walk through my steps and work through my steps and BAM everything comes together. I tend to pull my shots sometimes and I think it is my release but it is always my follow through.

great tips, my friend. I didn't think about opening up the non-gripping fingers on my right hand to make room for the release. Makes perfect sense. Another thing I learned is that if the hold or anchor point doesn't feel quite right don't shoot, let down and start over, yes ammo is cheap no big deal. It's just practice and we get lazy and shoot the shot anyway. Muscle memory is real, and bad habits will develop quickly. Treat every shot like it is the most important one today. I heard of an Archer whose coach only gave him one arrow to shoot at 50 yards, then he had to retrieve it to shoot again. He quickly learned to make every shot count. And got really good.
@ATOMark
@ATOMark 2 года назад
Ya I have been aborting shots more and more. If something doesn't feel right I re-start the shot sequence. This helps muscle memory and will eliminate inconsistent anchor points. I like to add a little accountability when practicing. When I miss the last shot it earns me 10 more. Lol

Using frames with fork gap at least 50 to 70mm and twisting my pouch 90 degrees solved my frame hit issues. Twisting gives me better and more stable anchor point and if I accidentally tweak my pouch the ball won't hit the frame. Speed bump sends it away from my hand and the frame. If I shoot frames equipped with shooting gap less than 50mm I found out that the pouch won't always open cleanly. My sweet spot is 60mm. There are really good looking frames everywhere, but 90% of them has too narrow gap for my shooting style.

I found a trick that helped me. Holding a pencil at one end and then holding up to my anchor point. In order to get the pencil straight towards target....your hand has to be in the exact hold to make pencil straight. Try it. That's how I knew my pouch hold was funky.

I've had to great a thumb guard I've had so many knuckle busting shots. I'll do fine for like 20 shots, then wham- thumb knuckle gets smashed. So etimes I'll have a couple of fork hits in a row. Then everything is fine again. I can't seem to figure out what is causing it. Frame is straight, same anchor point each time, same hold, easy release. .last s ash was yesterday znd it was super painful- hit a nerve or something as it felt like a shock all the way to elbow. Making a dang thumb guard out of old pill bottle until I can figure out why I am getting the thumb smashers.

It would seem that if your forks aren’t stacked on top of each other, then you’re actually stretching one of the bands further than the other one which results in a similar situation to what you described in the first problem. Wouldn’t that be correct except in addition to a tendency for the bands to send the ball off-line you’ve now decreased the opening of the forks.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I am new to this sport. I always shoot high, the narrower the frame width the higher I shoot, I don't want to change my anchor point which is my cheek bone. How do I fix this? Try wider frames? Like 95mm or even 100mm wide frames? Thank you. Also, how to aim when shooting downwards? for example, when you shoot something on the ground, do you bend your waist? Thank you very much.
@ATOMark
@ATOMark 2 года назад
Yup wider frames will solve this. This is why I always shoot 90mm frames. But you can always just aim low. They call it gap shooting. You know where your ball is going so you aim accordingly

@@ATOMark Thank you very much for the reply. What about aiming at target on the ground ? Do you bend your waist? Thanks.
@ATOMark
@ATOMark 2 года назад
@@alchemistlee5882 yes it is best to draw then bend at the waist. If you raise your arm or lower your arm you change the angle and draw length of your bands. Becomes very inconsistent also you may cause a frame hit because your bands aren't stretching equally. Bending at the waist is best.

@@ATOMark I'll second that; I have a friend who is a cop and he took me on their outdoor range on Sunday for 9mm pistol target practice, along with his buddy who is their chief firearms instructor. With a low target he made me emphasise the waist bend so that the target alignment is correct. Thanks ATO; I had a nasty hand strike with an 8mm BB the other day and couldn't figure it out, blood everywhere! For some reason I'd allowed my pouch thumb to bend about 20 degrees at the joint, to make my anchor more comfortable. As soon as I got my thumb and finger in line again I was back in business.

When you shoot down or up you need to keep your form. For example when I draw at something high I draw like I am shooting straight ahead and tilt at the waste to meet my target. If you raise or lower your arm you will create more tension in 1 band than the other and frame hit.
