I did this job today. A 2 inch diameter piece of pvc pipe fits like glove over the FJR inner fork tube. One can either use it as a slide hammer with the old seal as a buffer or get a 2 inch pvc cap to attach to the top end of the pipe and hit it with a rubber mallot. Don't forget to thoroughly lubricate the new seal as well as inside the fork tube where the seal seats and installation will take only a few seconds.

Great video... I just purchased a 2010 FJR.

Nice Job! Where was all the struggling and crying that other FJR owners experienced? LOL. I have only done the job once before on an old 99 Virago and it went well. I already have my new seals & fork oil here for my 2004 FJR, and this video was just what I needed to head out to the garage and make it happen. Thank you!

You can do it!

Great video, and only trying to help, Instead of moving the dampening rod adjuster up and down, you want to move the dampening rod itself. The piece that the adjusting rod goes in. Once you get all the air out of that, then move the cartridge up and down. Hope this helps.

I was going to take mine out and then take them to a garage to change the seals because I thought you would need special tools but after seeing how easy you made this look I will defo be trying to do this myself and save £150.

Use a open end wrench on the fork cap instead of a socket. Then you would be able to loosen them the first time. Great video, this definitely helped me

What size is it?

@@Ricks1290R don't exactly remember. Is this the fork cap we are talking about, I think it was 28mm-34mm something big

Good video. It will help many owners do the job themselves.

Nice work! Just trying to help for your next time here, but the reason the all internals came out in one piece, it's because yamaha uses a special tool to remove the bottom allen bolt. But the way you did saved you that. Personally, I'd have removed the spring from the rest which would helped to measure the air gap after filling the oil. That way you are exactly sure that both legs are equal. But pouring the same amount of oil definitely worked too. Bring more of these videos! 👍💪

Great video. What size is that top assy? I've tried all metric and none fit properly. Between 23mm and 24mm.

YOU are amazing. You have made the best video for replacing fork seals. But, i have a problem, i took both forks off at same time. Now i don't know how far up into the triple tree they go before i tighten up the 3 hex screws. Can you give me some advise? 2010 fjr

I'm sure you figured this out already, but for anyone else...the top of the fork tube cap sits flush with top of upper clamp. I have a 2010 also. Liquid Silver looks sharp on the FJR.

I wish you would have talked more about how it came out than the windshield

What year bike was this? I have been reading forums about how to perform this job and people refer to a middle bushing that makes the process much more difficult.

It is a 05, but it should be about the same for all FJR1300's

@@VehicleHunter its funny i have a gen III and had a gen II, only different i see is there's 1 pinch bolt on the front axle for the Gen 1's, it was upped to 2 per fork on the gen 2 and 3's...also i have an ES, so upside down forks now, which are pretty different than the one you're working on
