they didnt get scammed bc they never ordered a deep dish pizza they said they were upset they didnt get the chance to try chicago deep dish yet so the restaurant provided that experience for them complimentary.

I realized in fishes that Ritchie literally says he has these skills and he’s willing to learn and that was 5 years prior. Made the come up so much sweeter for Ritchie this episode

One of the greatest episodes of television I've ever seen

I don’t know if you remember when Chef Luca said about this one chef he tried to keep up with that was really good. That was Camry

going from the beef richie to Fine Dining Richard is one of my all time favorite character arcs on television, genuinely such a feel good moment after constant stress.

Everyone raves about Fishes which is because it's obviously an amazing episode but this is my favourite episode of the bear and also one of the best episodes of television

when richie stares at “every second counts” at the end you can actually SEE the realization of found purpose in his eyes and that’s incredible. the show just let us witness that and sit with it WITH richie, and that’s why it felt so emotional. incredible personal growth for richie!

I'm right there with you, Lupa. That final zoom-in on "Every Second Counts" reduced me to tears. Just...beautiful storytelling, and in a way that _feels_ impactful, because if Richie can finally feel the full weight of those three words, then the audience is right there with him. I cried, man. This is just...such a great show, sincerely. For all the stress and screaming it can be known for, I revere it even more for how tender and profound it can be.

We've all been waiting for this one. Perhaps the most thrilling, uplifting character development one episode has been able to pull off. What I absolutely adore is the contrast between the very first time Richie is introduced to the slogan on the wall ("Every Second Counts" to him at that point means to simply keep doing your responsibilities, no matter how dull), but by the end of the episode, he fully embraces its real meaning ("Every Second Counts," because it's never too late to start again, and he really could help build something beautiful once The Bear opens in the time they have left).

I didn't think this show could make me actually like Richie so much after one episode. What great character development!

Love the reveal with the photo of Carmy and Luca (Copenhagen). It confirms that the chef he was telling Marcus about, the one that was way better than him and pushed him to be better, was Carmy. Carmy even says it in his monologue at the season 1 finale. He mentions whenever someone would come in new he'd make sure to smoke them.

Chef Terry’s journey with her restaraunt mirrors Sydney (opened a restaraunt too fast and crashed out) and Carmys (opened a new venture with more maturity after the loss of a loved one)

I just realized in this episode that Richie is still wearing his wedding ring. Meaning he never got over losing his family, in addition to his best friend

The restaurant is based on a real place, Alinea in Chicago. They did a Chefs Table episode on it on Netflix… Definitely on my bucket list 🙏🏾

That cute lady chef gently pushed up on Richie at least 3 times with a huge smile on her face, she was giving him some rhythm - as us old folks used to say. I hope she becomes a love interest.

This episode means so much to me. The coach K speech in the beginning. To Richie hitting rock bottom to finding self worth and self love again because of working with Garrett and the team, also talking to the Chef. It’s never too late to start again & every second counts.

Chef Terry is played by Olivia Colman, who played Queen Elizabeth in The Crown, voiced Mama Bear in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, was Police Constable Doris Thatcher in Hot Fuzz ("Nothing like a bit of Girl On Girl!") and many other things. Figured I'd give some extra trivia on the whole "she's from Secret Invasion" bit.

The way the train passes as Richie says "I love you"... One of my favorite moments.

Finding out that his ex is getting married unlocked that Avatar Aang wisdom: "When we hit our lowest point we are open to the greatest change."

I burst out laughing at Sheera's Spider-Man joke. XD Anyways, great episode. Richie's development here is definitely one of the best parts of the season. And it makes me really happy to see a character change so much for the better. Every second counts from now on.

My only problem with this ep was that Richie aint get that girls damn numberrr 😂😂

Loved this episode! One thing I dont see a lot of people mention is the callback to ep 6 when Richie talks to Cicero at Christmas "I'm good with people" trying to get a job. So full circle Carmy tells chief Terry that Richie is good with people and we see him prosper because of it!

First time watching... my dude on the right has such a warming and joyous laugh. Super inviting to watch. Much needed wholesome content.. we need more of this

This episode is like what they did with Tina and Marcus, just tons of growth to the characters. Everyone gets their "Level Up" arc. This and Fishes made me love this show and so happy you're going on the journey as well.

That pizza place is real that Richie got the pizza from Pequods it was rated the top pizza place in the US this year I forget who said it but it's a real place, I live in Chicago & it's very good pizza not my favorite ever personally it's like an 8.5 to me but I know almost everyone else that has had it loves it so it's definitely legit.

He didn't wake up before the alarm because his body got into the "rhythm." It is to show that he has changed. Every morning he was waking up a few minutes late. On that last morning, he woke up before the alarm to show that he was ready to go. He was a changed man.

Peqouds is an actual pizza place. I’m from Chicago where is the the series takes place and is filmed. So I understand a lot of the references. I’m also a chef myself and the deep dish and cutting it down and making it into something else isn’t far fetched at all.

The actress who plays Chef Terry is Olivia Coleman who has made quite a few series and movies. She played Queen Elizabeth in the earlier seasons of The Crown, has been in many British series. She is an excellent actress.

So, this is filmed at a real Michelin starred restaurant in Chicago, Ever. Chef Duffy is into skeletons and skulls, so you see them displayed in the kitchen as you noticed. It is fictionalized, but the cotton candy dish is an actual thing there. They shut down the restaurant for a week to film this ep.

Even the smallest scene you can tell Matty Matheson is having so much fun.

The shots of the trains are a callback to the monologue that Richie had with Carm in the basement about that book character who got dropped by all his friends, and his life was spent just watching trains go by. It's to show Richie's fear of stagnation and the fear that everyone is moving on and he's getting left behind.

I've been waiting for this one since the start. I think this might be my favorite episode of anything ever.

"Why is there a skeleton up there?" There's something in art history called a memento mori, literally "remember you must die." Painters would throw a skull or something into a still life to remind people that death is looming for everyone, and that their life is precious in the shadow of that. I think it fits in well with the whole "Every Second Counts" theme of putting in the effort with the time you're given.
