Is this good for your bank like can you take is it the form 56 that takes back your power of attorney question mark this is just for assigning somebody as your power of attorney?
If you are over someone's estate or guardian Form 56 is suffice to allow you to file a tax return. If you are giving someone authorization to speak on your behalf to the IRS then you would need this form.
Hello Ms Bowen my name is Tracy Jackson my husband is currently incarcerated he asked me to fill out a 2848 however I don't have a ptin number or a calf number and also I don't know about the years or periods in the tax form numbers basically I'm trying to get any incomes employment payroll or payments or refunds for him and his behalf he was informed that he had 30 days to do so
Hi Tracy. You wouldn't be required to have a PTIN. You have 3 years to claim a refund so I would suggest going back to 2018 since the year that was filed is 2019. You would want his wage and income transcripts for 2018- whenever he became incarcerated. He will have to sign the 2848 giving you the representation authority to request these transcripts.
OK it's not sure if I can afford it but I got 50 cents in my bank right now and I'm regarding you as the renter in correctly coming in for the house Period I've you already done all of this yourself have you got remedied to get your commerce account and your regicy account and your trust to go out,?
Hello Timalyn, could you answer a question for me? Im trying to revoke power of attorney from all government agencies, including courts, can i use my living name for line two as the entity name would be in line one? meaning im taking over my own power of attorney. And would i need more signatures? Thank you so much for your videos
Hi Ms. Bowens! So many similar comments here so I do apologize but I’d like to be completely certain: I have general POA for my incarcerated partner, and no CAF or PTIN of course, so do I just file 2848 with my name and address in section 2, or is it a requirement to apply for a CAF separately first and then file the form once I’ve been given a CAF? Thank you for your time and content!
He’s my boyfriend. The general POA that I have specifically references my authorization to deal with the IRS and income taxes on his behalf, so my intention was to include that document with the 2848 since they couldn’t accept the POA on its own…
No, it does not answer my question. Basically I need to know if prior POA should be revoked with the new POA if the new POA is only extending the end date of the 1st POA. Original POA is for the period 2020 through 2022. The new POA is for the period 2020 through 2025. The concern is: In Section 6 of form 2848, should I say that I am revoking the original or 1st POA or not? I hope I have done a better job of explaining my question. Thank you.
@@AmericasFavEA I apologize for not seeing this response before sending my last message. This response is perfect. I can not thank you so enough for the valued service that you provide. This is the second time you have rescued my mental health. I really appreciate you.
Do you need to file a return for him or get information about his account? You'll need this for the latter and Form 56 if you just need to file a return.
Hi. I am my son's POA for 2020-2023. I am now extending the timeframe to 2025 (i.e. 2020-2025). On the updated form 2848, how do I now answer section 6. All information on the updated poa is same as prior poa except end date is extended. Do I check the box or not check the box in section 6? Thank you.
If representative is a parent as individual taxpayer is overseas: a) does question 2 require taxpayer's CAF or is this left blank? b) does question 3 require listing every form, i.e. 2555, or just form 1040; c) still leave question 5 blank if representative is non professional? Thank you.
@Steffie Patterson parenting never ends does it? You won't have a CAF number unless you're a professional. Is your child overseas and you're looking to do the Foreign income exclusion? I personally do not do #5 for my own clients because I do not want to sign returns or paperwork on their behalf.
On line 7 who signs the top and who signs the bottom my spouse is currently incarcerated and hes having trouble filling it out on line 7 do we both sign or only him ?
@@purplepetunia8190 are you wanting to hire a tax professional or attorney to be their tax POA or you would just like to be able to talk about their tax situation?
@@AmericasFavEA I would like to be able to talk to them on behalf of my loved one. It is a Trust B and there is an EIN number… I have no CAF obviously… no PTIN. My mom was next in line to be able to talk to them but she has passed. I do have POA for everything but this.
My son was incarserated and still is in the state of Florida. He is eligible to receive the stimulas. He cannot physically sign the 2848 form. I am his POA for everything since he has been incarcerated since 2018. Can I legally sign this with his name for him on line#7? We put POA for daytime number on line#1. Is that correct. We can have the check sent to him in prison. He will put it in his inmate account and get it back when he is released. Right now all we are trying to get his stimulas check for him. Any help you give us would be appreciated.
Are you wanting to sign this form to allow someone else to be his tax POA or are you asking if you can sign the 2020 and 2021 returns to claim that stimulus check for him? If you are legally appointed his guardian (paperwork required) you'd need Form 56 to notify the IRS of that relationship and get the returns filed.
Congratulations on being part of AFSP. Unfortunately that credential does not have unlimited representation rights. So unless it's a family member you wouldn't be filling one of these out.
You wouldn't need to. You have the authority to represent yourself already. Unless you meant, can you fill it out so someone else can represent you. Then the answer is yes, but both of you still have to sign it.
@@AmericasFavEA thank you so much I really appreciate you responding. So I write revoke all times / all periods correct. I read the instructions, but I was kind of confused.
@fareedakhenaten1028 do you have an online account? Don't quote me on this but you may be able to see who has POA and revoke from there. As a professional I can revoke them from the tax professional portal. Hopefully you can do the same from yours. Otherwise "Revoke" on the top should be fine.
@@AmericasFavEA yes, I do have an IRS account. I just did a freedom of information on every 1099 and every power of attorney that’s under my social I’m getting ready to switch everything over to a living trust. do you have a way for me to contact you? It will be a lot more convenient if you were able to revoke it because I tried searching on my account to try to do it online and I couldn’t find an option to do so.
If this is pertaining to the EIP 1,2, or 3 you can take a look at the account transcripts online. I'm not sure about your partner's internet access but I don't believe IRS.gov is a restricted site.
It’s for all 3 the irs said I need to have this form signed by him and myself to be able to talk to them cause some collected his payments without his knowledge & he wants to make sure they don’t collect anything else in the future & possibly get his payments returned
@@BetChaTV1 this is correct. You can apply/have a CAF number assigned to you which can take some time. That is why I recommended pulling the transcripts to see. If your partner is eligible for an online account you'll have the information in 5 minutes.
