Thanks, Scott. I enjoy all of your videos, and lacking a true art education, they help me understand design concepts more clearly. Thanks for all the food for thought.
Colani! Admiring his designs so much, been lucky enough to see the Karlsruhe exhibition many years ago. Thanks for the vid Scott Robertson, some very interesting thoughts. Cheers
Hey scott, would you please give us the complete name ot the internetpage you mentioned? Tranceform? Transform? I couldnt find it. Thanks. Great videos!!
Book is ordered! Excited to receive it. Sucks that shipping to Switzerland costs almost as much as the book itself, but what are ya gonna do... Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I just wanted to point out that the whole "adv." "yet." "ac." bit around 14:50 is precisely the same principle you are arguing against for a different medium, yet employing in a linguistic capacity. I also jumped to that point in the video and could see that it was a guy sitting in a spaceship before I backtracked and saw that was what you drew first. My brain functions in abstract. ;(
That was beautiful~ thank you so much for explaining that so clearly... it's something i have to be more conscious about, as i can see that this understanding is rather lacking in my design and drawing... I also really appreciated what u said about not mashing things together willy nilly for difference sake~ it is important to think about what is appropriate for what situation and audience~
Fantastic video Scott, love the FTF's about design. Just a quick question, are you going to cover color in the How to Render book(s)? Or will it just be on value?
Thanks. I'm going to touch on color a little, but for the most part it's about value, reflectivity and material indication (which are in color.) For a good book on Color and Light I recommend James Gurney's book, Color and Light.
It is nice to know your thoughts on one of the most abstract and delicate phase of a design process. Please share more advices and opinions like these. Thank you.
is it appropiate to create contrast by changing the forms? for example lets say i want the cockpit to be the focal point so in a round shaped vehicule i use some straight lines to create atention towards that specific part of it.
Great Video your hitting on some of my problem area with styling, I'm wondering if you can do a video on styling an object using references/sources. I'd like to see an object styled from different time periods. e.g. Bike, car, I don't know... I'd like to see how you approach it.
