I served this man as Mayor’s Aide during his term as Mayor of Harare,this is a great man. A man I think the country is not fully utilizing. I still look for his speeches and get the same inspiration he gave me during our time together at Town House in Harare

I like this level of transparency. I wish we could have the current mayors on this stage as well so that the citizens can be made aware of the responsibilities at hand apart from party politics

Thank you for the show Trevor. I tuned in because of the uncertainty we face as a people in this country and had heard a lot about Much. He didn’t say much about our preparedness and other intervening measures he believes could and should be taken, even though you tried your best to draw him back to the subject at hand. This was more about himself his friends etc. Byo City council even during Much’s time was better run with “dull” Councillor’s, less educated mayor than him, why? Until the lion can tell it’s tale, it’s the hunters story which glorifies the hunt. As we under lockdown consider using web conferencing and allow us to pose questions also. Mr Ncube, good work father. May you do us a favor and involve entrepreneurs in China, with big businesses and influence. We might share a lot in-terms of how the government can include small businesses in the development of the economy and the society, at the same time attracting FDI and boosting confidence in the informal business sector to convert to formal.

My question is what changes did he make when he was Mayor...

Excellent piece Mudhara Much m happy u had the guts to stand against and in discussions with Presidency and minister Chombo at that time, but I want to tell u like u sort of confirmed, technocrats are the bigger problem at Town houses. When towns do well they take all the glory , wen disaster strikes ie covid, cholera etc Councillors take the blame coz they are subject of elections uhhhhhhhhh the managers are the biggest disaster. Well paid, company vehicles, children school fees, maid and garden boy etc Councilors only demand the delivery of services to the citizens and that is done noone complains. Yes some level of education is desired , but can imagine the level of fights between technocrats. When we had executive Mayors and executive committees things were a bit working until Managers felt intimidated. Local government need revisiting , Managers in my case are the biggest challenge

Meritocracy is needed for anyone in public office. Our Nation is not progressive because we are not putting our best foot forward. Singapore took 35 yrs from third world to first world due to employing meritocracy in public office. China prides itself in using meritocracy to elect public officials. We are at a virtual standstill until we tackle this head on.

At times the Council’s hands are tied because of the way some of these institutions are run. Plus remember the council does not have control over a significant portion of their income (For Harare at least).

Interesting that Mr Masunda actually correctly calls our city as ‘Bulawayo’ yet Trevor Ncube says: ‘Bhulaweyo’🤔🤔🤷🏿‍♂️.

As much as we are to be blamed as voters for electing incompetent councillors, we should also blame those political parties for putting people who dont have people at heart on those said positions. Moreover, we a citizens how can we vote for competent people when those people are never given a chance to compete. Politics is just dirty, busy feeding their pockets, havagute here?
