Hibbert had the exact timing in that he played in a transitional era, gone were the dominant Centers like Shaq and Hakeem, Hibbert was one of the last "Traditional" centers, his small window came before the modern era of small 5s and bigs who can also stretch the floor were not quite a thing yet.

It's unbelievable he's at this pt. He's 26, supposed to be entering his prime. He did make 2 all star games after being #1 pick. Jumpshot was the one glaring hole and he never worked on it..didn't even have the balls to shoot at all. It's a shame because Ben is an amazing talent. Just from a physical perspective and passing ability, he's the closest to Magic and LeBron. But he's so flawed. He looks rattled even going to the rim. His instinct is to use his right hand, but he built up his game after left hand. I also think city of Philly broke him. I went to school there.. reputation is in line with what you here lol. He was also a kid who had rich parents and lived in a bubble in chill Australia. All that being said, didn't see this coming. Never seen anything quite like this. Maybe Rick Ankiel in MLB? Idk. First in NBA at least

@@brooksorlando4881 remember when Chuck Knoblauch was good in MN and then made an error or two with NY (after some good seasons, tbf) and forgot how to do literally everything! He was a .340 hitter and a good/very good 2B fielder at one point. Then he fucked up a throw or two and his whole career went in the toilet (after that he was throwing routine outs into the dirt or into the stands). That's Ben. Mental went completely off the rails. Difference is Simmons has access to options that weren't available to athletes back in 2000. But he won't use them...

Jefferson was on drugs for comparing simmons to Yao. Yao couldn't control his injuries and it was a issue before coming to the league because of his height but when healthy. He was good on both ends and averaged 25. Not that he was dominant that I'm bragging about but still.
