14 years ago, I was assaulted by a student, leading to a severe concussion/mTBI. I tried to stay in the classroom, but my administrators made my life a living hell because I had to keep taking off due to migraines and doctor's appointments. They also said my personality changed. Huh, I had a serious head injury from a classroom incident, but I was just supposed to be ok.
I’m so sorry that happened to you it’s so disgustingly unfair. In our society the victims always suffers more and the perpetrators get no discipline or accountability. It’s evil but so is the USA in general they are poisoning all of us and have been for so long
I was in a car crash when I was 19. Driver hit a tree, my head hit the windshield...was out on my feet for hours with a major concussion...needed almost 200 stitches to close me up. Head injuries do change a person.
I worked for public schools 27 yrs. Homeschool your kids. They are NOT in a learning environment. School admin, boards do not care. Case: VA teacher shot by 6 yo student & the gun was reported before it happened, several reports-ignored by admin. Teachers & children suffer. Our public schools are sick.
You mean a piece of candy and a juice box before getting sent back to the classroom 20 minutes doesn't magically cure the problem?????? You mean giving a child a 50% on every assignment even if they don't do one single question, doesn't fix all the issues??????
They blame covid but not parenting. My parents would have laid down the law if I was causing problems anywhere. This is a result of how cool it is to be a single mom and get paid by taxpayers for doing it.
It's not specific to any one demographic. I've been in the field of education for 25+ years, and trust me, I've experienced it all. From the entitled brats from two parent households to the kids with single moms who would rather be their child's friend instead of their parent. All kids act up. I think your comment was misinformed and irresponsible to make.
@@imeldathornton3396 Thats not what the stats say. It is specific to one demographic. 7% of the population is responsible for 50+ % of the violent crime in this country.
Which school district is it that has this number. I retired from teaching 14 years ago and the rubbish from students and parents just got worse over time.
the teacher could actually sue the school system for allowing the student to even be in her class, as he should have been expelled after the feb 1st incident with another teacher in which he was charged with felony 2nd degree kidnapping and misdemeanor rioting and another event on april 15 where he was charged again with felony 2nd degree kidnapping, assault on a government employee, and communicating threats. the right lawyer could make money by making her rich due to her post traumatic stress. the sad thing is they will let this "troubled child" back into society where he will probably end up seriously hurting/killing someone.
Parents want it both ways. They want teachers to discipline but then when a child is reprimanded, they complain. So many times a parent would tell me something their child said I either said or did, only to find out it didn’t happen the way they claimed. I’m not saying all kids or teachers are wrong but there are usually two sides with the truth in the middle.
I don't doubt it. All those parents whose kids get arrested or shot by police with guns, drugs, etc. Their parent(s) & family always come out & say how he was a "good kid."
Has nothing to do w Covid, I'm so sick of hearing that ! It's parents letting their kids do whatever they want. Kids being allowed to call the police because they got their fones taken and then the parents get in trouble from that so these kids have become monsters. These kid's are our future. Not a pretty thought!
I'm from a single parent home. I'm 51 years old & I'm still terrified of my mom. It's how you raise & teach your child that matters. Quality over quantity. I never behaved like some children do in schools these days. If I had, I wouldn't be here today.
You cant send messages to young people that 'anything goes'... that there are no moral absolutes...you can't send the message that LIFE isn't to be valued then at the same time be shocked or surprised when everything starts spiraling into chaos... Public schools are part of what has created this current situation
It's sad all the negative comments I see about race. As a teacher I've seen kids of all races behaving badly, as well as showing excellence. Poor impulse control and poor social behaviors can stem from a variety of issues - undiagnosed medical problems, poverty, lack of parental skill, etc. The problem is when disruptive behaviors are allowed to happen daily (and sometimes minute by minute!). It disrupts the learning process for everyone else. Teachers are expected to be able to "handle" some pretty severe issues - but to handle them appropriately can sometimes take between ten and 15 minutes out of a 30-minute lesson. Schools have very hard-working, compassionate counselors who are stretched to the limit and do a lot to help kids every day. But school administrators' hands are tied when it comes to removing students who are disruptive. Laws need to change to allow schools to have more power to remove students from classrooms and to regulate the placement of students who demonstrate a need for behavioral help.
You’re correct. My 39 years in the profession were both arduous and honorable. Only due to health reasons I fully retired; however, I must confess that each school year was a little worse than the year before. Lack of parenting, peer pressure, social media……….the list of problems are legion.
Thus mess started when they began to arrest parents for disciplinary actions at home. Spare the Rod spoil the child. I they can't be disciplined at home. They are going to act a fool.in public
3 12 year olds jumped my friend's 8 year old son at schools. She called the police to investigate because the school didn't do anything because they didn't know. They said they are understaffed. Disgusting.
One of the things that does register with a lot of parents is that if they do not deal with the lack of discipline and respect that the school is seeing in their children now while they are younger, the police department and correction facilities will be dealing with it later. That attitude and sense of entitlement does not just magically disappear when your child turns 18.
One thing the one teacher said that they hear it from their parents. Know that you're from social media the gang banger is want to be rappers and all that. We need to start normalizing discipline.
My special needs son was bullied in class all the time and picked on and the teacher would sit there all day with her nose in her phone and headphones in her ears and do nothing not doing her job getting paid when I complained about this when I said she was watching Netflix they asked me how did I know what she was doing I said I don't care what she's doing she's not doing her job and I know for a fact because my son called me and I heard him go up to her at least three times asking for help and she kept you know putting him off and he got attacked Winnie had to go to the bathroom and it could have been prevented would have did her job instead of you know her nose in the phone and a lot of times I asked him what they're doing when he tells me this stuff I said how come you don't hear about go on he said she had headphones in her ear looking at her phone headphones now getting paid no supervision that's the problem right there teachers I can't I don't feel a bit sorry for him
In the 90's I graduated with a degree in education k-12 mathematics...I taught for two months, quit and went back to study electrical engineering duck the future criminals of America, to begin with the parents aren't prepared to have children.
1st generation wasn't the issue, the 4th generation is, the women's movement was funded by the CIA to destroy the family unit , they also targeted black women become of utter fear of black panthers
What is wrong with this school. Many kids have been attacking teachers over the years at this school. Sounds like the school is not serious about the matter, or the kids wouldn't be so brave to attack adults.
The schools have no power to discipline-- that has been taken away by federal and state laws; the only way this will change is if enough people demand that their representatives vote to overhaul some of these laws.
They admit the teacher has no injuries yet they want to charge this boy with 30 felonies because the chief of police mom was a teacher because I am because he embarrassed the town with a viral video
LOL all the comments blaming single moms, even tho they are the only ones that stick around. Why make abortion illegal then? If you wanna blame women for being single moms then why don’t you then also give them autonomy over their bodies lol. Also idk holding men responsible for one single thing for once lmao 😂
Most single moms are single on purpose because they want government benefits, this is a fact and not up for debate. If they didn't want to be single moms then they shouldn't be having sex out if wedlock, no more excuses
Why is this students's fault if the teachers are high in the classrooms. They were just trying to wake them up to,and notify the authorities that this is the state of teachers in our country as they enter classrooms inebriated.
I want to see discipline of the 60's and 70's be brought back to ALL schools..this is why teachers are quitting schools all over the country..bring back and enforce the real BOARD OF EDUCATION...100%
