For heaven’s sake. The kid’s voice hasn’t even changed yet! I can’t believe comments that make it seem like the kid was actually just “getting lucky” bc it was a male victim. Even if the kid didn’t feel like a victim at the time, the hidden mental scars will reveal themselves as he gets older. There is nothing healthy about an adult romantically and sexually desiring a child. Then using their status as an authority figure to pursue, manipulate and groom that child. She has deeply influenced his future perceptions on sex, relationships and himself as a person. His brain is still developing. Everything a person experiences as an adolescent greatly determines the way they will conduct themselves as adults and the teacher succeeded in giving him an experience that is entirely inappropriate and unhealthy. To have one of your first experiences with sex and romance be at the hands of a pe*ophile is extremely damaging to a child’s future adult self.
Something is mental about the woman. She smiles throughout most of this. In her interview with the officer when she first got arrested she just didn't seem to grasp the reality of it all. Plus, she was groping/touching the boy in front of his friend like it was no big deal. She's a teacher for crying out loud. She knows kids talk. Rumors are one thing, but she allowed a child witness to just hang around while she did things with that kid. Again, something is wrong with the lady at a lot of levels.
If a man had commited this crime there would not be an interview with an ex con saying how he will suffer because there isn't enough space and no AC...... Complete double standard for women.... This report is so biased
I went to high school with her... seemed like a nice girl, although we never really had a full-on conversation. She always would smile in passing. Such a shame that she did this to herself, her husband and to the affected individuals.
I'm shocked how many men on here think it was ok for her to abuse the kids. If she wasn't quite as pretty as her, and she isn't that great, would they think the same, or if it was their child, would that be ok too. Or if a man did the same to their daughter?
My son is 13. If he has sex with a girl his own age I wouldn't be very happy about it. But I would understand. If he had sex with his 28 year old teacher i would want her hung in front of the school. These people that think she did nothing wrong are very depraved sick people.

She could've had any man she wanted but she chose to throw her life away for her transgressions with a kid. Brittany had everything going for her but when she chose to do what she did, she lost everything including her freedom. It's really sad but she chose to commit the crime & now she is going to have to live with her bad decisions.

She was really wondering when she could go home as she was arrested. She was so out of her comfort zone as they were taking off her jewellery. She was in a place she'd never been before and now she's trapped in it for the next 20 years. I'd love to see her facial expression as she's asked, "was it worth it?"......just sayin'

I've heard the correctional compound in Perryville is complete torture during the summer months because yes there is no AC. I first learned of this with the Jodi Arias case.
I find 20 years excessively harsh for this offense. I’ve known people who killed someone and took away a teenager’s life via DUI who did far less time than this. It’s ridiculous. I think 5 years prison followed by 5 years intensely monitored probation is extremely sufficient.
I'd love to ask that female judge why she gave her the minimum sentence. I bet the same judge would have given a man the maximum. In all crimes from fraud to murder and everything in between women get much lighter sentences. Gender should never be a factor in sentencing.
It’s because she pled guilty. No plea deal, which shows that she “owned up to” her mistakes. That’s why they give judges leeway in sentencing. I, for one, think child molesters should never get out. I really doubt that there is a cure for that type of behavior. Maybe in 20 years there will be. Like the inmates say, child molestation is either along the same lines or even worse than murder.

Baracus Obamus exactly 20 years is excessive. Especially when felons convicted of manslaughter/murder get 7 years. You can hardly call something that the boy enjoyed and wanted to perpetuate rape and a life scarring traumatic experience.

Shes not remorseful and she only said sorry because she got caught. This most likely isn't the first boy she sexually assaulted either. People like this should be locked up for a long time because most likely shed do it again if given the opportunity. Really doubt there is a cure for people that think like her.

It appears she will have to because it a plea. The punishment seems disproportionate to the harm she caused but God almighty, why was she so stupid. Every one knows that you never ever have anything to do with someone that even looks like they're under 21. She just destroyed her whole life in a few weeks.
She was wrong for her actions but the sentence is outrageous. She certainly deserves to be in prison but 20 years is excessive. Especially when people that target small children are given probation or 1-2 year prison sentences and then they get out and re offend.
I agree with you to an extent, not because she is a woman. But I think 10 years would be perfect. After that its just a waste of taxpayer money. She lost her teaching credential, she lost her home, lost her car, her masters degree is useless. She has nothing now! So take 10 years from her and tell her to start over. And good luck. They were rewarded for returning her behaviour towards them even when it made them feel uncomfortable. Anyone who is sentenced to prison for a sex crime will be placed on the sex offender registry upon release from prison or after being sentenced to probation.
The punishment should fit the crime. If you can demonstrate that a 13-year-old adolescent -- who actively and secretly participated in (extended) flirting, sexting, touching, and multiple sexual encounters (including intercourse) -- was damaged psychologically, then maybe a substantial prison sentence is warranted. If he was not psychologically affected, then counseling, probation, monitoring, and restitution would be my judgment.
DNA proved that my favorite athlete had a psychological problem with killing White women. Anybody can claim or deny that this student has psychological problems, but I don't see how they can get any proof.
Zamora - gave a boy the time of his life. Arias - shot her ex-boyfriend dead and stabbed his dead, lifeless body repeatedly postmortem. Even snapped a few pics just before the act. Both end up detained similarly. I dunno, one's a threat to society, while the other is just a bit weird, but in a harmless way

I would've never reported her. Same thing happened to me when I was a kid and I (boast) told my mother. She said, I knew that was going to happen. I enjoyed every minute of it. Hers is a situation that's possibly going on everyday and she does deserve some time in prison-3-5 years cause her life is pretty much over after that, but 20 years? That's the extreme the US live under.
You know what I think? I think the kid had his fun, and then he was done, and the pretty teacher wouldn't leave him alone. That's what this all sounds like to me.
