Carter being the truly decent guy he was only cared that they were released. He never raised a stink about Reagan going behind his back complaining about the one President at a time laws. They were released and that was enough for him. Probably the only truly honest caring politicians we have had since Ike. A second term probably would have killed him. as an eighteen year old in1970 ,i was stationed in Georgia getting ready to be shipped off to nam and carter just won his governorship primary ... i remember watching him make his acceptance speech on a small tv in the rec room ...and i thought to myself, "if he ever ran for president i would vote for him".and sure enough 5 years later he ran and he was the first president i voted for....i was never sorry that i did...he was the most moral president we ever had..
