Well spoken Thibos Nigeria must keep their Nigeria and we will keep our South Africa . mazihambe lezinja. we need a drug free SA ONLY Ganja and alcohol is enough for us
Try starting a business in JHB first, do your research. Don't just articulate what ever you think makes logical sense. Try renting a shop as a South African in JHB first, then attempt to conclude on what is going on in the CBD. In-fact try selling on the street of JHB as a South African, try getting a stand as it is called. Angithandi abantu abakhuluma into abangayazi. You are better off as a foreiner in JHB to operate a business, they will block, suffocate and sabotage your business. Lamanzwe ahlangene ngento eyodwa lana, ukucekelaphansi umntwana waseMzansi. Bonke from Europe to Zimbambwe, why do you think we are called lazy. Ubani oLazy.
What i like about Thabo Mbeki is that he sticks to the truth and does not compromise the truth to please anyone sitting next to him whether African diplomats, Americans or the international community at large. Calls a spade a spade and doesn't beat around the bush
This happened 2 years ago but it's still relevant to the current situation in South Africa. Funny how members of other countries are quick to lable South Africans as xenophobic, while overlooking the fact that those who are being attacked have violated the South African laws. When the foreign Nationals attacked the South African Police with stones and other things in the JHB.....those who are saying South Africans are xenophobic never said anything about that. What does that imply about them?....Are they saying it is okay for foreign Nationals to violate other country's law and the members of that country should just seat back and do nothing?
the only president i see still fit to govern again south africa was better under his leadership yes not every leader will be perfect in every way but he was much better than what we had and have currently
Thabo Mbeki has explained this situation well. He has a great understanding of the South African people and is very much in touch with what is going on the ground. I am not Xenophobic.
Think who this crime is benefitting. I get angry, but I love my people( All). If we isolate South Africans, Apartheid will return and we dont want that. We will keep loving U. But behave like Africans first.
I understand your anger and frustration and I share it. But you need to understand that 99.9 percent of South Africans have never carried out a so called xenophobic attact on fellow Africans. How do you fear people who look just like you?People we live with everyday? Do you know that in South Africa there is all kinds of people? What you see is an attempt by South Africas white owned media to try and isolate black South Africans from other Africans. There are so quick to call crime Xenophobia. However, there is amongst, the unemployed a feeling of unhappiness that people who come from outside the country get jobs instead of them-this feeling does exist.Business prefers to hire people who enter the country without papers because they can be exploited easily, they are not connected to a labour union and have no way of complaining about abuse. So all the white farmers prefer to hire the millions of people who enter the country illegally instead of the locals and this will naturally cause a bad spirit between people and a tiny few will even resort to murder unfortunately. I am an African and it is not possible to isolate me from my Africaness. I love you too and I hope I was able to shed some light on the issue. My only fear is that government has done nothing to try and solve the pronblem accept to arrest a few people and to tell people not to do this. I think sadly it will still happen .The only solutions is that we all open our borders and find a way to unite. What do you think needs to done?
@@jean-pierremuchuba6509 There are many Bantu people with the surname Muchuba in South Africa. You will only be isolating your own family. Xenophobia represents the very worst of our society, It is hurtful and embarrassing to the majority of South Africans.
The best president after Mandela. He said we build houses *while* growing the economy his administration also had a budget surplus. Now look at zuma and ramaphosa and the difference is clear.
@@raveenasidel2613 when plastics were free what did we do? We would waist them and contribute to pollution. Now we paying for them, now you can back the plastic bag and use it again, what's wrong in that? Don't argue because of arguing don't be selfish. You also cry about the economy of South Africa but when a strategy is implemented you cry again. Grow up and look at things on a positive way of rebuilding our own economy.

So why for AIDS which is an immune deficiency syndrome there's no cure?" he wanted to come with a cure not a treatment that are made money out of to treat you until you die which is not the solution. But are mind are so influence to much that we can't learn to think straight we always bring down intelligent presidents/leaders so that they doctrine can be thrown in the bin. Know your story before you judge a person, hence our country is like this because we don't want to be independent to our own nature and doctrines brought by our leaders to build our nations.
Lt us nt insult SouthAfricans even if we helped them during their apartheid era tht does nt gv us the right to immigrate their country nd do what we want lt us respect their call
Respect should go both ways. Remember south Africa benefits more from backward Africa than Africa benefits from south Africa. Look at how big ShopRite is, and they still manufacture toothpicks for export in south Africa turning Africa into a supermarket. If Zambia imports toothpicks then they have exported jobs to south Africa. The exchange is simple for us billions of revenue banked in south Africa you get a few million migrants. Africa stays underdeveloped south Africa keeps producing for Africa. The list is long DStv, MTN , ShopRite, pnpay ,game. Standard bank, Nedbank old mutual, sabs, .....that is billions in us dollars.
So is the function of the police. U are after those who steal yr peanuts and leave alone those who steal yr pension and yr future. Mr President yr children are all accross Africa. You are bigger than South Africa.
@@jean-pierremuchuba6509 Thats true, but our police are corrupt themselves, they take bribes from criminals and surely we can not attack Police that would collapse our country.
I concur with him ,when he says no one who formulate and implement the strategies of attacking foreigners, People who have been in township will understand the struggles of marginal people.
Mr President! I am African who got a UK cotizenship after living here a white nation for 5 years. Our Somali brothers have been living on our homeland for 20 years and you still consider them as foreigners. Make them citizen and apply equal laws to them. Africal leadership is what is failing. During your exile(s) your African brothers never called you foreigners. Shape up!
Fokof you're talking shit, where were Somaliams when South Africans were fighting apartheid, they were fighting for anyone branded African to simply move in claim equal benefit? This Africanism shit is overrated.
The people can't take the law in their hand, where are the police work today? The south African want to have anything in granted is stead of doing the deal to make good things to help themselves and the foreigners survivors. Together we can change this world to a better place to live.
He has a good point and that’s exactly how is see it to be. Some people are spearheading this Attacks. but the simple fact that he did not severely condemn the civilians taking the law into their hands rendered his talk one sided .
Wow what an intellectual ,The people of South Africa did wrong by forcing this men to resign as the President ,...if he was still one this county would be way better than it is now,,I think they should involve him in decisions that they make in Parliament it least he must have a say ,bcz wow the brains in this men
Its a pity those MTN and Shoprite are not even owned by the black south african so we actually careless what happens to them. We just tired of seeing our own home counrty being vandalized nd infiltrated with drugs and prostitution. I mean show me a south african drug dealer that operates in Nigeria ? M sure none. But look at South africas small towns how they turned out ? Guys come on.
This old president of south africa whas wery gud in what he dit and he whas against stealing frum the tax maney and the anc took him oud to but zuma in
with all due respect former President i lived in a township in capetown for many years and there are killings of innocent blood being split every week eg in Nyanga , Philip , Kayelitsha and Delft just to mention a few and the most people who are committing these crimes are not foreigners why the community would act so violently to the crimes committed by foreigners but seems to be reluctant to crimes committed by their own people
A lot of South Africans get killed in mob justice for committing crimes. I do not support mob justice as it leads to anarchy. Law and order should be followed. But just labeling the problems in South African urban landscape as just Xenophobia does not properly diagnose the problem. If you do not properly diagnose the problem you cannot fix it.
But when are ending our debts if may be? Alwys we reminded help during apartheid? Lots of Countries helped SA to fight apartheid and not Nigeria only but they aren't bragging hle bathong....
True but the problem is this is the same guy who endorsed Mugabe on so many occasions. SADC should have removed Mugabe long back there wouldn't be many Zimbabweans In SA.Migration should happen both sides and not towards SA only.
Maybe U should send all these foreigners( dirts) back home and recall all South Africans( nobles) living across Africa. But, lets stop pretending we want a united Africa. Every penny a Somali makes in SA benefits the country. I thought an economist would easily understand that. Teach South Africans that they are Africans first! Please dont pretend there is no Xenophobia in SA, I have so much respecr for U Sir!
Which part of his speech says there's no xenophobia in South Africa? N exactly were does he call people dirts🤷 I'm so confused by your logic. If you're pretending don't assume everyone is the same.
Has anyone ever told South Africans that we all fought apartheid? All your leaders were sheltered accross Africa. We will not abandon our S African brothers. We dont want another apartheid. They cant see it coming. We will not isolate you otherwise it is slavery again.
For someone who is a resident of Uk will never understand what Mbeki is saying and what is really happening here rather put emotions aside and try to reasonate with what he is saying, im south African n there are south african who are xenophobic. However i agree with him when he says let us examine first what sparkes these violence against other africans. I assure you if the root cause of these attacks are not dealt with, they will happen again. Lastly i appreciate the role played by other countries to liberate us but that does not mean we should turn a blind i to wrong doing. All those who went yo exile bring a name where one of them was found to have commited a crime. Yes we have law enforcement police in the country but they have been currupted, those who are not n still dedicated in protecting the public against crime they get killed by those who are corrupt so they tend to keep quiete for safety reason.
I do not hear this guy speaking about taxation problems facing the South Africans, policing that is falsely towards SAz, I hear him speaking about "who" generates... he already feeding finds to look for a person when trying to resolve these attacks... ay I can't find him helping .. i would rather he never said anything. SAz citizens are suffering. Let me challenge the example he made ... somalian and a South African tuckshop..1st SAz pay electricity ... educate children pay municipal bills dey build houses that dey live in and as they do that SA develps. Now Somalians... dey dont hv bank account their money can not be taxed dey dont pay electricity they rob it. Sell fake clothes ... drive without licenses... own un licensed car n fire arms... Wait ... why do dey come to open tuckshops in SA? I would gladly welcom them opening supermarkets... but why tuckshops? Come on Mr Mbeki Sir... which other country in the land does this to it own people. You are sending a wrong message out there saying we lack thinking ability to uplift our selves.. why you speak so low of your people?

Ungitshela ngabantu ekungasibana abalana, charity begins at home. Do you save pension for your neighbors kids? Share that pension with your neighbors so because your home is for all. These leaders are not in-touch with reality. Kanti elabani lelizwe, can I go and open a tuckshop in Bangladesh?
Cry beloved Africa. However super and saintly our rulers maybe, as long as the majority are ignorant nothing can work. We had the Nkurumahs, the Mandelas etc but simply because they were presiding over "masses" not "peoples" they could hardly make a headway. By the way by "PEOPLES" we mean people who are thinking citizens; help themselves; seek education; accept responsibility; are aware of their rights; obey their convictions; are ruled by authority; believe in unity thus are rewarded by a democratic rule; whilst "MASSES" are a blind crowd; are managed by others; seek only entertainment; shirk their duties; take their rights for granted; wait for orders; Are controlled by force; want uniformity and are punished by a dictatorial rule. The question thus is how to metamorphose the majority on the continent who are "masses" into "peoples." The talk is not about how many Phd's etc but who can make the necessary sacrifices for the good of the many. Without this kind of noble attitudes, Africa's Economic and Mind Liberation will remain hazy!
@@oolu3340 In fact ONLY South Africans were killed in riot control with police to end the looting. 10 people over the last two weeks, who died incidentally, all SA citizens. What you saw is fake news, random killings from around the world were posted on social media with the claim it was currently happening in SA. It is rather sad that people in Nigeria went on a riot destroying their own shops and killing one of their own in Nigeria, even though no Nigerian died in South Africa.
What did you do about it Mr Overgrown eyebrows? Did you put measures in place when you were president instead of coming here to sound clever for the poor?
Too much noise , All 30,000 Registered Nigerians in South Africa should leave and all 18,000 Registered South Africans in Nigeria should leave , all others should be deported , all diplomatic relations between both countries ended , all trade ended all interactions ended , everything else is noise . I miss your ability to dissect our challenges without pandering to the whims of those with simplified mind, separate passion from facts and you will become a better debater, preconceived ideas masquerading as thoughts generated from vigorous mental exercise won't work here I agree with mbeki, criminals should be dealt with harshly
Tom Maroes I cannot believe what this man is saying. Trying to confuse criminal acts with acts of xenophobia when there are hundreds of RU-vid showing mob attack that are clearly xenophobic... he should have come up with a better spin.. this is utter rubbish
Tolu Omololu it’s not xenophobic but afrophobic. Because they never attack Arabs, Indians, Chinese and Europeans. The Guptas use their country like a whore house and not one Indian was attacked. All Nigerians and other Africans should leave their country for them, and you will see their education and healthcare sectors will crumble
You very stupid, very stupid.. Maybe you influenced by a white person to not read between the lines of situations and always want to say Africans hating africans
This is a big lie. The guy who killed lucky Dube said he thought he was a Nigerian. I have lost my respect for this man. A president who is actually defending a mob. What a pity.
How was he defending a mob? Do you know the story why taxi drivers started to be part of the attacks? It started as to take down illegal companies in South Africa that are used as camouflage for drugs.. Until a taxi was attacked by stopping/arguing with a Nigerian for providing drugs to our youth, and a mob of Nigerians attacked him and he was killed, if you Watched your news you would have know cause even people around Kenya, Ghana they know this and this guy was killed so the people in that community started to fight.. It's not xenophobia it was a situation of that cause and it started spreading around jhb.. So what mob is he protecting when he was stating facts.. My guy learn to know what xenophobia is
Mr. Former President, with due respect you just only mentioned some particular selective causes of the problem. Even accepting your logic and explanation of the first instance cause it did not address the why such "according your explanation" individual or group thuggery escalated to massive looting and killing of Africans living in South Africa. The worse is when one compares your logic of explanation into the White immigrants into South Africa. Here one is left nothing but to deduce that white immigrants are free of whatsoever crime - assuming so takes us further to question of the socio-culture of the Black South African. Doesn't this mean then that only white men are welcome in South Africa. In different light Mr. Respected President, how would you respond if so many South Africans are brutally murdered and viciously attacked in Lagos, Addis Ababa, Cairo and cities of Africa? I hope the answer wouldn't be that South Africans wouldn't at first place live in other cities, because of course you did and used African resource during the Apartheid struggle
Mr mbeki u not even surposed to be talking as u talking on this issue this very bad of u South Africans claiming dat fellow Africans who are operating thier business here dat thier are selling drugs but we seying ur people taking suger en papu solt en many more shame on u guys just stand up with all ur lazy people en teach them also tell them how we help u guys during apethid regem
Akim more Nigerians are killed by Fulani herds men and boko haram ....than xenophobia .its not even 5 Nigerians .....so focus home.. Fulani herds men killed 500 in one day civilian. So focus there.. ..
Please do not generalise, to bring this to your attention it's not the only recently we have had none South African here. We have maltitudes of people who came into the country long before 1994 Africans in particular from Southern Africa and elsewhere in Africa and they are forming a large part of South African community they no other place the call home except this country. One best ot the element the posses was to respect and embraced the adopted country with its diversity.
I don't want to talk before, but I think I will have to say something... Firstly, Thabo Mbeki or whatever his name is called in your language is not truthful to himself and his people. This ingrate was harboured in Nigeria while his people were being persecuted during apartheid. The same goes to the Late Nelson Mandela, the great and knowledgeable South African of all time. I asked myself, why does Xenophobia attacks not happened during Mandela's regime as it often does now? Ask yourself that. Thabo Mbeki was forced to step down when he made a statement about HIV existence among his people....was it Nigerians that sold them HIV, as they claimed Nigerians sold drugs in SA? Without any doubt, they would've said Nigerians sold HIV to them. Sorry to say, there are many South Africans in jail in Asian countries bcos they were caught pushing drugs...One biggest problem of SA are the Zulus, bcos they believe that the whole SA belongs to them, and they aren't knowledgeable (mumu). Malema has told them the truth, if they chase away the foreigners, it doesn't change their lives...bcos you are the problem of yourselves. Before, SA used to be number 1 economy in Africa, NIGERIA has overtook SA, over seven years now and still maintain it. They are jealous of Nigerians, competing with Nigeria in everything while Nigeria doesn't compete with SA. Imagine, their women prefer to befriend a foreign to their men. What a shame! Now, SA is gradually preparing for second recession in a year. Black leadership in SA is gradually collapsing, bcos they have no idea about the meaning of leadership, only late Mandela knew about it. I rest my case.
Point of correction those South African who are in Jai in another country send by your Brothers brain wash them or trafficking them and get themselves in middle of trouble
@@mthemburosemary498 You don't even have anything tangible to say. Go and sit down. Brainwashed by Nigerians, I think u are daydreaming. So, if someone ask u to deep ur hand into the burning of fire, will u? And u will claim he or she is brainwashed?. Please, be wise when talking.
