Bruh there are people who literally eat that DVD to get JaMarcus Russell's position in life. Crazy arm strength, millions and a whole city at your feet.
Jamarcus Russell got paid a lot right away with endorsements I think he racked up basically 100 million with his contract. He obviously knew he didn’t have to work for it
@@MrRushblakstax he still got millions bruh we from the same city Mobile,al he still pushing a RR he ain't broke he just stupid on some game days he was in Mobile he missed practice he didn't care about fines bcuz he had all that money
Kirk Morrison being an NFL color commentator or sideline reporter also works. He seems like he could do better at those specific jobs than many others in the field now
I loved Kirk Morrison when he played he was one of the best LBs the Raiders had during those dark days. I never knew he was a good storyteller though. I'd love to hear what he had to say about Lane Kiffin, Tom Cable, and Hue Jackson. That was an interesting time in Raider history where they had so much potential but could never keep a head coach and Al Davis kept butting his head in.
Jamarcus had the arm strength, accuracy and physical skills to be a successful starting NFL quarterback. It just seemed like he didn't care to practice, train and prepare to play football. As a LSU fan it was fun watching him play and wish he would have preformed better in the NFL.
Apparently everyone does outrageous and dumb rookie shows, kirks making it seem like Russell rookie show was out of depth and over the top unprofessional
Mark Davis was In the room before drafting him. Mark said don’t draft him. His dad Al Davis and several others yelled at mark davis and kicked him out.
I feel so bad for this guy. He was such a beast in college. It seems as though he had some learning disabilities, and bad mentorship or lack thereof. If you ask me, the fault lies with the raiders for lack of proper investigation and for the LSU staff who advocated for Russell to be picked.
Everyone always talks about him as a bust or his addiction or his weight gain. How come noone ever talks about him losing 2 of his strong male influences within a year of each other?
He quit on life and the Raiders quit on him in return. I see Russell as insecure and everything from the fur coat, watch and earring as a cover up. If he wasn't good enough to be on the team why have him surveilled and call the police on him to deter other teams. Jets and Redskins were genuinely interested.
Don'tdoit - People love to see comebacks , especially in the USA . I can remember where I was standing in 1987 when a guy told me that George Forman was making a comeback !! . I also recall during that same year that Leonard returned to the ring to fight Hagler . Just imagine how big of a story that it would be if Russell could get back into the league and have an impact . As I have already mentioned , that story alone would overshadow some of the negativity that the nfl has had in recent years . If nothing else , "" it would be a good public relations move "".
@@jeremybrown9611 yes usually, however if we’re talking bout JaMarcus, the only speed he could have been blinded by was the speed of his arm whipping the ball around! Damn that boy had a goddamn cannon!
@@unlimitedpower978 The Chargers recovered nicely from Leaf and have NOT had QB troubles since then. Think about it! They got Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and potentially Justin Herbert. JaMarcus Russell sent the Raiders to the Stone Age and it took them years to recover.
@@andrewsallee3060 Even though he had a short career, he's a top 3 receiver of all time, and in my opinion he was the best ever, at least talent-wise. But just like Barry Sanders, his whole career got wasted by the Lions organization.
I had tricks up my sleeve, but then I got high Now I'm the biggest bust and i know whyyy ooh ooh Because I got high, because I got high, because I got high....
The word on Russell coming out was that he wasn't "too bright". I just remember seeing a pre draft interview with him and his "pastor" and the the guy in the Armani Suit with Fort Knox around his neck did all the talking for him
Lonelyontop: I'm from the bay and there are some people like that were they will go for any bay team raiders niners dubs As giants don't matter as long as it's from the bay.... yeee🤑🤓🤯
glockstradamus 10mm Don’t worry, man. Khalil would win us about a game a season, but other than that our defense really can’t get much worse than it has been for years Mack or no Mack. We saved a ton of money and hopefully the Bears have two terrible seasons so we can get some high picks. If we strike gold in the upcoming drafts because of the first rounds, Davis, Reggie and Gruden are going to look like geniuses.
RB Dominic Rhodes also told the DVD story a few years ago. He said that in the offensive meetings Russell would fall asleep and never take notes. This was after he came over from Indy and was used to Peyton filling up a new spiral notebook with notes every year. Any Coach after Gruden left was hamstrung by Al Davis.
Al also didn't hire coaches who had the will and gravitas to fight the battle against a football giant lik al was. He hired the hot coach not the right coach.
He is one of the biggest busts in NFL history, mainly because of his huge contract. He busted so badly that the NFL has to restructure the way that first round rookies are paid
Jamarcus was a big disappointment no doubt...I think every black kid playing QB wanted him to be successful..goes to show talent doesn't out last work ethic
WISHBONEL7 Jamarcus and Todd Marinivich could've been hall of Famers in my opinion. Both quit, Russell's arrogance, hold out and not being the brightest guy off the field won him no sympathy.
don't do it - I am a firm believer that being at the right place at the right time , with the right support system is crucial . For instance , I can remember when Joe Montana took the stage at Notre Dame , and how he seized the moment . There is a video posted on here about Bill Belichick , Most people are familiar with Tom Brady's story , yet not that many people are aware of his story .
WISHBONEL7 I do blame both parties. He was suppose to be the savior and that's a lot to carry. WR's or Rb's don't have to deal with the pressure its more instinctive. Russell should've been benched to his first 2-3 years to mature and not take the whole blame for them losing. His blame is he was arrogant. That with coaches trying cover their own behind instead of fixing him was a death sentence. Look at his LSU highlights vs Raider highlights. His footwork was good then became bad. That's coaching and him not putting in the work. He's a fool for not working with Rich Gannon (didn't want to humble himself) but also he's usually with the Raiders so it should've never got to that point.
I worked in a high end retail store in the Bay Area back when he played on the Raiders and JaMarcus would come shop with his entourage of friends and it was hilarious because each guy had a different color denim outfits . They all had gold teeth and crazy bling jewelry and each guy had shopping bag of all the designer shops like Chanel, Louis Vuitton and others . What’s was funny about his crew they were asking the ladies who work at the store if they wanted to work for them or if they wanted to make some real money.
I seen Jamarcus Russel at a Andre Ward boxing match in Oakland. This was part of the super 8 round robin. I was a boxing writer at the time sitting front row. On the jumbo cam (big tv's above the ring) they showed jamarcus, who was sitting in the audience with his clan. The whole stadium started booing. Jarmacus got all heated and him and his group got up and stormed out of there. He was so upset, lol.
20 years from now, people will be telling another funny Raiders story about how they gave John Gruden a 10 year, $100 million deal and how Antonio Brown quit football over a helmet 🤦♂️
YungFuego25 at the time I wrote it, it was factual because he said himself he wouldn’t play football if he couldn’t keep his helmet. Turns out, the events that have happened since then are even more embarrassing 🤷♂️
InDatParish by embarrassing you mean leaving Jon Gruden and his horrendous game preparation and uncertainty of the woeful Raiders to joining the defending world champions & possibly being the number 1 WR option? Again, Go ahead and correct your comment bro...the edit option is calling your name! 🤷🏾♂️
As a Raider fan, I just make it a point to NOT watch the draft. Also as a Raider fan, I'm REALLY glad the new regime traded two measly picks for a proven star this offseason. I'll take a guy like Davante Adams over two "maybes" all day every day.
I'm not a Raiders fan and I sense your pain knowing Calvin Johnson and Joe Thomas were #2 and #3, probably some of the best all-time players at their position.
What kind of coaching staff gives a kids a blank DVD... what kind of coaching staff plays games with their lively hood and job. Forget trying to prove a point get em to buy in thats the coach job not just coach X's O's
Just stop making excuses for him golly y’all hear an interview and just act like what they did was cool he DIDNT WATCH FILM AS A QB that is horrible you could tell ryan clark aint feel bad only Channing felt bad and he lasted about as long as russ 😂
Years ago I was a supervisor at a warehouse and we used to work LSU football players during the summer. Anyway we the Center and Offensive guard working for us. They said Jamarcus was borderline illiterate, he just had all the talent in the world
Are you still a Supervisor at Someone Else's Warehouse?😂😆 *Cause I'm willing to guarantee Jamarcus Russell works for himself & is Still an illiterate Multi millionaire* & Where are those 2 offensive linemen that spoke about Jamarcus's intelligence??
Eli one of the lineman owns an engineering service. I’m not sure about the other. I was just passing what those guys told me along. I just looked it up Russell signed a 68 million dollar contract with 32 guaranteed as of now he has a net worth of 9 million... let’s hope that will last him
@@JayWilliams-ie4ke Spoken like someone with not much money who hasn't figured out that money is not everything. I bet JaMarcus himself would go back and trade it all in for another shot at respect and not being the laughing stock of football.
