I live in Pima County AZ. I disagree with Mr. Bower's political views, but I have to thank him for doing what was right, being honest and taking a stand. I am sad he is no longer in public service because of this.
@leroysanders3564 I'm pretty sure that person is saying they are not Republican and not saying they support Trump. We all respect integrity, and there's no doubt Mr Bowers possesses that.
Yes, I too am glad Rusty B. did you not give in to election interference but prior to that he said he was not for trump, then switched back over. Lastly he said he would vote for trump. What side of the fence will it be the next time.
It's a shame Liz Cheney's career didn't survive. I don't agree with her and I don't like her politics. But she showed integrity and it's a shame her constituency are still drinking the Trump Coolaid.
@@LightLegion I agree. Often when one decides to stand up to something that shouldn't be, there's a real personal cost, specifically your livelihood and career. He understood that and did the correct thing anyway.
A man that stood up to the pressures placed upon him showed backbone and integrity. He was voted out of office because of it. Which is sad because this country needs many more politicians like him.
It always horrifies me to see the damage that one man's ego has done to the USA. I truly hope that the people who care about justice will be able to prevail.
This is not "one man's ego". This is the culmination of America's foundational and unaddressed white supremacism, and it won't stop until that's dealt with. Hence the panic from the fascist GOP against the teaching of accurate American history.
Drumpf's ego was egged on and Held High by the ENTIRE RepubliKKKlan Cult Agenda. If even Cocaine Mitch had stood up for Democracy, many of the other senior RepubliKKKlans would have grown a backbone, too.
Rusty is an old school Republican. I am likely his polar opposite but he has my ultimate respect for being a truly smart, honest, good and logical person. Peace
Any Republican should just do as told when being called by Trump, no questions asked and no evidence necessary. It is a duty to president, party, God and country. It looks like Rusty has failed in this sacred duty.
To do so is his job, the one we taxpayers pay him handsomely to do. Same for Pence and the others who are being lauded and called heroes for simply doing their job. Like the rest of us do every day, just different, less well paid jobs.
Trump's attorney was trying to pressure the AZ Republican Bowers - to hold ANOTHER ELECTION, to gauge whether the actual election was what Arizonians wanted. That, in my view, is borderline treason, and am glad it didn't happen. Trumpists would want the electorate to keep voting over and over, until Trumpists got their 1 vote majority.
@@AgentAika001yep yep yep. He needs to be pressed on this every single time he speaks in public. Your convictions are only as admirable as long as you act on them. He knows better than most in this country just how much Trump has eroded faith in our democracy. Voting for him or anyone who unequivocally supports him ever again is to spit in the face of his own convictions and the people who have fought to create and preserve our democracy.
Thank you Mr Bowers, Arizona has had such great, patriotic Americans. John McCann and Mr Bowers, put the country 1st, I’m not sure the GOP has many men like that left.
💯 agree. Republican election officials, Secretary's of State and Governors who refused to go along with Trump and enablers failed Coup are patriots. They did their jobs and put Democracy and Country over one person.
You can tell the real patriots. They just do their jobs with honesty and integrity. They do not seek unfair advantage, or work to game the system. They are not loud or boastful. They accept an even-handed loss just as well as a win.
Wow. What a great man and a bulwark against all the nonsense flying around him. Rusty’s conviction and principle are what saved us from an outcome that could have created even more chaos. Under great pressure, he stayed true to his oath.
Terrific interview. Mr. Bowers is an old-school, true conservative. I may disagree with some of his conservative views... but he seems to be a very ethical man. And as I am a "liberal-minded" person the best compliment I can give Mr. Bowers is that he seems to be an ethical and formidable, conservative-minded man. Nothing wrong with that. You can work very well with people like that. You will likely win 50% of the debates with him... and lose 50% of them. But likely always end up with a reasonable solution with him. We need more people like him in government. People like that serve a critical role... gate-keeper.. from the Trump, Marjorie Taylor-Green, Lauren Borbert, Ron DeSantis, Kevin McCarthy, Andy Biggs and Jim Jordans of the world.
It's refreshing watching someone answer the questions asked, and in such an honest and forthright way, even though, and especially when, doing so doesn't reflect well on your political party. Kudos to Rusty and much respect.
I rather thought that it reflected very well of his party, in that there are in fact individual Republicans that still hold on to truth, law, and justice in spite of the MAGA Trumpsters.
It's unfortunate, but I don't see the Republicans ever getting their party back. Trump's success has already bred another Trump, DeSantis. Even more extreme and proud of it. In the Senate, old school Republican leadership is hanging on, but there's MAGAT blood in the pipeline there too, Cotton and Hawley.
I love that smile on his face the whole time. RESPECT. Regarding Republicans he's a unicorn. And that says something about the state of the Republican party.
It is very clear to me that Rusty Bowers is extremely happy for the decisions he took at the time by not giving in and choosing integrity. He is a proud person and you don't find enough of them in your country.
He failed as a Republican. He should have done as asked for by Trump, no questions asked. At that point, all tht mattered was preserving the Trump presidency by all means, legal or illegal That failure is what led to this desaster of the Biden administration.
I don't think he "chose" integrity. I don't think anything but what he did was ever an option in his mind. I've lived in five countries and I don't think the US is worse in this respect than other places I've lived, and better than some.
@@lqr824 I have lived in five countries as well and worked for over 20 years for an American multinational. I don't want to offend you but I was not impressed by the intellectual honesty of the average American business person, certainly not in comparison with the Scandinavian company I also worked for. I am happy for you that you have a different experience and I just wonder if you disagree with my assessment that the Republican Party has quite a number of members who are above average hypocritical.
@@peterdeij9388 wow, sounds like you made some horrible life choices then. I'll meet you half-way and agree that from what I hear you're likely right about Scandinavians specifically, but more generally I'd guess Americans are on a par with Japanese, Hong Kong, and Swiss, and far above Brits. One footnote is that the Swiss always have to convince themselves (and society around them) that their behavior is all to the letter of the law, without even thinking to ask whether their behavior was honorable.
@@peterdeij9388 that said Norway is not in the least intellectually honest, crowing that Statol is "carbon neutral" when it being in business probably increases the carbon output of the entire human race by several percent.
And that is the conundrum we are in, which Republicans want to do what is right and fair for the people. Or which are doing their job for the corporations that have donated to their parties.
It is still chilling to realize that our democracy was held in tact by just a few strong pillars. If we were talking about a bridge, we would be calling in the inspectors and the structural engineers to fix the problem. Right now, I guess that would be the 'engineering firm' of Smith, Willis, Bragg, and James.
not from USA - but what's even more frustrating is, that the people that stood their ground back then, another example is Mike Pence, have now a very hard time politically because of all the MAGA folks.
Barely. Even after he publicly testified that Trump asked him to fake the election, and after Trump’s minions went to Bowers’s house and screamed abuse while his daughter way *dying of cancer* inside, Bowers publicly stated he would vote for Donald Trump AGAIN. He can’t be trusted.
I Have such Respect for Rusty Bowers, especially his testimony at the J6 Hearing. He explained his Daughter was dying from cancer in his house and Trump Supporters were Outside his house creating Havoc...
God Bless Him! I hadn't heard that and it must have been a horrible time for him and all his family. Much respect for this man and what he has done for America.
Huge respect for Mr Bowers & his respect for truth, justness & integrity. Cicero, Marcus Aurelius, Jefferson & Washington would be relieved by hearing of this true public servant, vs a charlatan requiring that the entire public serve himself.
@@musiclover9361 Ever read a history book? The world has progressed in the last few decades, you can't buy a woman for less than the price of a goat anymore.
Much respect to Mr. Bowers! "Discretion is the better part of valor" and he is definitely valiant!! Love the way he answered some of these questions. The grand jury's investigative process is secret and should remain so until there's a conclusion.
This guy is quite a character. Lol! No wonder Trumpers drove him out of AZ politics. Imagine Kari Lake trying to debate someone with even half his brains/ integrity!
I have always tild my kids and grandkids: sometimes doung the right rhing is the hardest thing you'll ever do, but you're never sorry for doing the right thing. Thank you, Mr Bowers.
@@sissy-_-fnyc That's the nature of haters - they enjoy their hatreds almost at an orgasmic level, and they will tend to first hate those they can see - like Graham. That is one of the fatal flaws of the MAGA crowd. They ultimately turn on their own.
You have to remember that he originally didn't rule out voting for Trump after Trump pressured him to violate the Constitution and Bower's religious beliefs. What is more important to Bowers--defeating Joe Biden or his deeply held core values?
@@thomasdesmond2233 I hope he has realized since he testified before the Committee, that whatever hope he held out for The Coup Clutz Clown, is now vaporized in the wake of his (tRumps) now obvious miscreant behavior. As a well-known Republican judge J. Michael Luttig said, _'tRump and his allies are a "clear and present danger" to democracy'_
Just the fact that the former guy thinks its possible to expect a republican governor to go along with the criminality of his request, is a blight on the partisan American political system
Real picture? The repeated phone calls threatening, browbeating-on tape-trying to lie, weasel, push, coerce, cheat, grift...anything to stay in power despite the reality of the vote. That's the picture. The very clear, evidence-based picture. The former president is a grifting liar interested in filling his pockets at the expense of anyone/everyone else and tried to take over America out of greed and narcissism. And only failed because he can't help but be so loathsome that he chased his own voters into the arms of the opposition. He's a piece of crap that has lessened America in so many uncountable ways. That's the picture. It's an oversized, crystal-clear, hi-rez picture.
It's more of a blight on the former guy , but yes, racists fled to the Republican party after Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, and that should tell us that racism is the real blight on this country, since before that they'd all been Democrats because of Lincoln; and the one who made his name on the racist birtherism fantasy can just ride an escalator a few more floors down because he is going to have to go to hell without America in tow this time. 🇺🇲
On the same page. Why is There only one more Republican other than Liz & Adam that I've heard say " I have more Respect for what I do ". & speak logically?
They do exist just very thin on the ground they need to get together and form a new Conservative Party not beholden to religious extremists or corporate money
@@keithhoss4990 Because the majority of his party would have rolled over and went along with it. Nobody is saying you should agree with his ideology but he did do the right thing when it may have been more popular for him not to.
@@BB-nw3mj Actually quite a few Republicans stepped up on Jan 6 and in the months after to condemn Trump and defend the elections as free and fair. Don’t believe the propaganda from CNN. And now many people are coming forward unsolicited to give evidence to Jack’s investigation.
True. I’d include Adam Kinzinger in that group too. And I suppose Liz Cheney… if I was American, I’d never vote for them but I can appreciate their integrity, to ignore pressure from the MAGAts.
Bowers testimony before Congress Jan 6 Committee was riveting. A man who both understands and adheres to his Oath of Office. This man has more integrity and intelligence in his pinky finger than tramp would know of in 10 lifetimes.
Excellent interview. And although our policy beliefs differ, I am an admirer of Rusty Bowers' honesty and integrity. So foolish to vote such an honest man out, but then Trump's insanity has poisoned the common sense of a lot of people.
"So by refusing to cave to the will of your party, even under enormous pressure from the most powerful people in the world, you single-handedly saved the American democratic system from a legitimate existential threat." "Well, I don't know, I just dabble with a paint-brush."
Put on your marathon pants Jack Smith. This is going to be a doozy but you had the trumpeter hiding his face in court. “Are you feeling lucky, punk. “ lmao
Mr Bowers is a class act. Held true to the Constitution and his position even when he knew the repercussions would mean losing his job. Any company/ business would be lucky to have such an honorable and dedicated employee.
@@harveyhc7438 Ok I see who I am dealing with. He was accused by people on the far right. Vindication would be proving he did nothing wrong. I agree with you sir in that I don't think he did anything wrong and was hoping this situation would prove that to those who had accused him in the past. Now tell me he did nothing wrong to begin with so I can agree with you some more.
Thank you Mr. Bowers for being a Republican with integrity. Unlike the chickens in Congress, you were not afraid to lose your job for the truth. Our soldiers sacrifice their lives every day to protect this country, but the cowards in Congress were too scared to speak out against the corruption and crimes because they are afraid to lose their jobs. Disgraceful. You’re a true hero Mr. Bowers.
From the state that gave us Barry Goldwater and John McCain. Neither of whom I agreed with on very much but both of whom had my utmost respect. Integrity matters.
As a AZ resident is amazing that my Republican friends are saying " Republicans dont know how to cheat" that being said, they all say they all voted, now we hear Henhouse Hsnnity saying to vote early, vote by mail, so when i ask them if they will, they say "why? we voted", some even early and by mail. Now its up to us the get more youth registered and voting, our future kids need our support, as do our seniors if we are to maintain a sane America
I never knew of Rusty Bowers before his testimony before the January 6th Committee. Since then, I think of him often and check in to what he has to say - he is on the right side of the law and history - and when he speaks, I listen. Liz Cheney would say, "He has honor", and I wholeheartedly agree!!
The problem is, they KICKED HIM OUT and installed seditious trump ass kissers!!!😢😢😢 The insurrection hasn't stopped! They are just gearing up for overthrowing 2024 with their guys in place in all the RED STATES!😢😢😢😢😢😢
One by one is correct. I hate to say it, but Republicans who no longer fear Trump are a very small group. They are mostly retired from politics or public service.
