They really should have a different flag depending on who unifies Italy, to have the House of Savoy Coat of Arms on the tricolour when it was the Two Sicilies who unified it is rather horrendous lmao
Absolutely, they introduced a new system for USA flag they done a lot of stuff for flags and then they completely trascurate Italy unification and just slap savoy flag with every state. Ridiculous honestly.
Enjoyed the stream Edit: don’t know if someone told you why it’s callled the two Sicily’s but it’s because when the kingdom of sicily lost The island of Sicily to Aragon they kept the name kingdom of Sicily but when they got it back they just called it two Sicilys referring to the kingdom and the island
No that's not the reason, you're right they called the island and the mainland sicily, but the founder of the kingdom in 1815 decided to found a new kingdom to abolish both the sicilian and neopolitan senate, and to abolish the sicilian constitution that weakned his power.
@@oppionatedindividual8256 i dont think so, this is just a quick explanation on a youtube comment section its not like hes purposefully spreading misinformation
Hi I'm your south Italian commie obsessed with history guy, who will unfold the Two Sicilies "segreto di pulcinella" (pulcinella's secret) to you. Well it's an historic and cultural reason, it starts from 1130 when all the south of the peninsula was unified under Norman kingdom of Sicily. When it fell after Federico II di Svevia, the stupor mundi, it was divided in two different kingdoms a French-magiar dynasty of Anjou in Naples and a Spanish dinasty of Aragon in Sicily, they were assigned by popes that called those territories in their bulls: "Regnum Siciliae Citra pharum" Sicilia Citra and "Regnum Siciliae ultra Pharum" Sicilia ultra (it really meant Sicily under the lighthouse of Messina and Sicily up the lighthouse). Afer that those territories were under Spain, then under HRE and again Spain, for all that time Sicily and kingdom of Naples were always under two different viceroyalties. When Borbone's of Sicily got both the kingdoms in their hands, they at first considered themselves as kings of two different kingdoms, but after the congress of Vienna Ferdinando IV di Borbone (the one you're playing with) unified the two crowns and, considering the papal denominations of the two territories, lower Sicily for Kingdom Sicily and upper Sicily for Kingdom of Naples, he called the new unified kingdom as Two Sicilies. The cultural part is that our ancestors didn't call themselves with a common name, they called themselves Sicilians in Sicily and Neapolitans elsewhere, my ancestors where from Abruzzo and condidered themselves Neapolitans for example, this was because of culture differences between the two people... but Sicilians and Neapolitans considered themselves Italians too, but why Italians are in fact a only one people despite the huge differences Italians perceive between themselves it's another enormous and complicated topic that starts from when Romans stopped to call themselves Romans in favor of Italians in the IX century, but I won't discuss it now. Great video by the way, it was really fun to watch (sorry for my bad English)
You can do this in 1840 if you keep relations up with all of the Italian states and are the first to get nationalism! I have an Italy run with 400m GDP in 1880
I hate it when ppl ask something like "Is it even fun/good". Not like those definitions are personalised. Something I find fun isn't what others might find fun.
To be fair tho, asking for someone's experience before purchasing and trying out the game is a smart thing to do. And while personalized, there is definitely some overlap when it comes to personal experiences. If 9/10 people say the UI sucks (as an example), you're more likely to be wary of it. Same thing if 8/10 say the war mechanic is very fun (another example), you're more likely to try it out with anticipation. It's weird to act as if a game with a million-strong people as a fan-base won't have a lot of general overlap when it comes to what they deem to be fun/good.
In the future do you think you'll play as Portugal? The start is brutal with negative income for quite a bit i've tried it like 3 times today and i always completely got owned. never managed to get off the red. Still pretty much learning the game so maybe it's a lot easier than i'm painting it out to be but i'd like to see how you takle those sort of starts
2:50:50 that is the sardinian kingdom coat of arms. Its the actual flag of the italian kingdom, but since it has been formed with two sicilies this flag has no sense on this game, it should have two sicilies coat of arms in it. A detail, but enough to break immersion if you know that, even more if you think that two sicilian italian flag is no fiction but actually exists: it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regno_delle_Due_Sicilie#/media/File:Flag_of_the_Kingdom_of_the_Two_Sicilies_(1860).svg
Who ever asked "is that an Australian accent" how dare he, we sound nothing like the welsh hahaha. Not a fan of wars, Id rather they made it like Vic 2 or even better hoi4 now that would be amazing.
