Although we do see some good racing nowadays, racing will never be 80s to mid 00s good again. The cars were so different, everyone running different types, styles, engines and everything. Looking how my homeboy Martin just freight train down the straits as soon as power gets put down is insane compared to the others.
big fan of many series to this day but theres no arguing that the cars just simply used to be cooler all across the board. not even necessarily "better" in all cases, just cooler.
@@test-tl8dt you're definitely right there man. Now every car looks pretty much the same, or like.. It's hard to explain, but they all feel like the same car some how.
Almost 30 years later, this race still gives me goose bumps. It was like a war fought on a racetrack and you can feel the tensions and emotion from the drivers, the crowd and the commentator
Watch this one then. Crystal Palace raceway 1970 Ford Escort 1.6L vs Chevy Camero 5.7L That is an incredible race. Especially the mini coopers outback harassing thst boss mustang.
I recorded this on eurosport back in '94 then lost the tape, been searching for this race ever since. Its just as spectacular as i remembered! Thanks for uploading

Unfortunately for non-Norwegian speaking people it’s not as good, but he does have some videos with subtitles, including the documentary about Martin Schanke
Schanche made a decision in that first corner that it was going to be an aggressive race and lost because of it. the car was clearly faster and he would have won without the crashes
Schanche will forever be my fav driver to watch in any motorsport . was active from 1972 to 2001 . and in every single race he ever entered he had one mindset . FLAT OUT OR GO HOME !
My father raced schance , he said he was fast in the early years but later on he just went crazy and just shoved everyone out of its way. Like seen here.
Ahhh... days of thunder rallycross edition how fierce is this run was back then with none of the gimmicks that today's racing has been doing forever anyway thanks for the video and have a nice day bye now. P.S. Hey did anyone noticed in the background at 1:12 mark a couple of old ford race cars.
No coincedence that Schanche is rhyming slang for something very appropriate.... I saw him at his one and only attempt at Le Mans, binned it on the first lap....
Oh he was a prick alright, but I do believe that it's fairly obvious that if these races were nice and clean, the whole thing would have been a lot less interesting. And isn't it kind of cool that belligerent assholes have designated places where their disposition actually does some good? Schanche entered politics too, but that was an arena where his antics were rightfully frowned upon.
i remembr gollop an shanche's antics very well, never a dull race when hose 2 went at it,which they often did, although the team would step in and cool them off, lol.
Ahhh, it was Will Gollop! I remember that ridiculous move by Martin and how he was punished after that behavior, but i forgot who has been involved into that too. But I don't like Schancke after that when I saw his jumping and walking over the track and blocking cars. And my favourite rallycross pilot and champion is absolutely opposite to him - Matti Alamaki.
1994 was most definitely a year that stands out after having edited the races, we have seen incidents which ultimately have lead up to this race 😉 these still to be uploaded as and when
Before! This car upgraded to the first yellow escort and then there was a new build Yellow escort for 97, F1RX it was known as. Ludvig Hunsbedt took over the 1st Yellow Escort Videos of each variation are on our Channel.
Love him or hate him what he did for the sport is why it was so popular in our times, characters like schanche are essential in the sport now days especially as we all like venting our opinions on social media 😁
Tommy Kristoffersson since 1989 in the European Rallycross championship longer in his national championships, Johan definitely has his fathers Skills 😉 Coming soon more Tommy in the Gorgeous Audi Quattro and Audi coupe S2 20v 😁
This is what we was saying about Kenneth and his driving not as blatant as Martin but Kenneth still gets the job done in this Video 👍🏻 ➡️ Action what a Race 1995 European Rallycross Mandescircuit Ingelmunster Belgium. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kYXItU5SqxM.html
Entertaining to watch on track but should never have been allowed to drive on normal roads with red mist moments like Schanche suffered from,I wonder how many motorists have been bullied by his obvious problem, his Wikipedia profile makes interesting reading being the son of a WW2 fighter pilot and maybe explains his do or die attitude
That is controversial. That punt from the red car at the end wasn't anything like the bump given by the white car at first. First time clearly the red sideways car was slow AF and blocking traffic, while when it hit the white escort near the end, it clearly did it to send the competitor into the shadow realm.
Kenneth Hansen was one dirty driver. He would often do a last second bump aggressively to gain a position. Yes, Martin was an aggressive driver but he would more often power his way were others wouldn't dare to gun it. Anyway, Karma will get Hansen in the end.
The '90s was, at best, the penultimate decade of real rallycross and motorsport in general. There were no paid-off sellouts with forced smiles pushing homogenous blobs of batteries on wheels with unhappy-claptrappy propaganda that preambles longer than the race. The race is electrified by edict, while the whining pontification of Progressive programming is louder than the equalised motors. When men decide how to compete, and which method and machinery works best and wins fastest, it will be electrifying. When men can be told to worship what does not work, there will be no reason left in men, and no races left to win.
