The Emilia Romagna GP in Imola last weekend didn't mark just the return of F1 at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, but also F2 came back at Imola after two years since the last time, with the first European round of the 2024 season
For this year, F1's feeder series has unveiled a new car that made its debut in Baharain, with a completely revised aero, much more similar to the current ground effect F1s. The most notable changes are both on the front and on the rear wing, with the last one particularly different and with a strange shape, in order to make overtakes even easier
The cars are still powered by the turbocharged 3.4-litre V6 Mecachrome engine, which the series uses since 2018, even if it has been slightly modified
The Sprint race saw the win of Franco Colapinto with an overtake on the last lap on Paul Aron, with Zane Maloney closing the podium in P3, while the Sunday Feature race was won by Isack Hadjar, in front of F3 reining champion Gabriel Bortoleto and Paraguaian rookie Joshua Durksen, with the much awaited Kimi Antonelli finishing just off the podium places in fourth
