Nyck De Vries, Sergio Sette Camara, Sebastien Buemi, Oliver Rowland, Sam Bird, Lucas Di Grassi, Stoffel Vandoorne, Robin Frijns, Jehan Daruvala, and Dan Ticktum give their candid thoughts on the situation and which direction they would like Formula E to go in.

One thing that London offers that Silverstone doesn't is public transport accessibility for those with mobility issues. The Elizabeth line has made access with a wheelchair incredibly easy. Even within the Excel itself has incredible accessibility. I would be gutted if it moved.

Totally agree. Formula E is about sustainability, and moving to a venue with as poor public transport options as Silverstone would be a major step back. Keeping it accessible for everyone is important.

Silverstone will add more to Formula E. It would be good to race in a normal circuit. Maybe they can have both? (Like how F1 has 3 US GPs)

I don't think it's big enough with enough following for such a large track really, I was at the Misano races earlier this year and it was so empty, I don't think them leaving Rome was a success for the series

I think Sam Bird and Dan Ticktum both hit the nail on the head. Even though it's a fun track to watch and puts on a fantastic show for fans attending, logistically the Excel might not work long-term as the Excel itself keeps changing. But you've got to keep the race somewhere that's convenient and easy for fans - and that just isn't Silverstone

London is so easy to get to, major airports, train and road links to Europe and then the buses and underground to get to the Excel. It's such a unique circuit and it's FE's original ethos, electric racing in the heart of the city. If it has to move to another UK location it should be in a city as Silverstone is so difficult to get to.⚡️

Excel London Is The Best Track our own Monaco we all ❤ London city and it's remarkably convenient the travelling and the facilities are almost 2nd to none. Excel for Excellent Racing. And we see a new champion crowned here 3 times 2 in the Excel Centre with Pascal Wehrlein with his amazing fightback to beat the Kiwi favourites in the far superior Jaguars backed by the home crowd but Wehrlein proved why he is the best.

Formula E has to stay in London somewhere. We can't become a permanent circuit only championship when we move to GEN 4

We can’t have very fast cars racing on small tracks and causing traffic jams. Spa, monza etc will be welcome and more fans
@GeriatricFan1963
@GeriatricFan1963 2 месяца назад
@@benarcher2381 More fans? Where are these extra FE fans and why are they more likely to go to a track like SIlverstone than they are to go to a city centre like London or Birmingham? Sure, most F1 venues have got more capacity than a street circuit, but is FE anywhere near as big a draw there? You're more likely to have half empty grandstands at Silverstone, especially when even at London there were some empty seats even during the race. If we are just going to permanent circuits then it dilutes the appeal of FE: "Let's just do what F1 does" is a mission statement devoid of ambition, and in a world where F1 is hugely popular, it's doomed to failure.

I don’t think Silverstone logistically works, like it is a nightmare to get to, and only really by car, which then destroys the reason behind formula e, if everyone is driving petrol cars to get there. Although it would be awesome to seeing, it’s would completely change what formula e is about tbh.

I think a direct rail connection to Silverstone is needed if it is to stay on the F1 calendar. It's useless promoting hybrid cars and sustainable racing fuel in F1 if the only viable way for fans to get to the circuit is by car. I think it's needed for F1, but should be a prerequisite before FE even consider moving there.

I do feel very strongly that we need NO MORE permanent circuits, I'd rather they be scrapped altogether but we certainly don't need more and Silverstone would be really really poor! Keep the UK round on streets, preferably at the ExCel.

That could be a better option because nobody ever use the Grand Prix layout except the classic touring car championship

@@Bradleywood.249What? The Brands GP circuit is used regularly (as much as noise restrictions allow. e.g. GT World Challenge, BTCC, BSB, British GT, Super Touring Power, Masters Historic, HSCC Superprix and multiple club events....

If they would start to do more and more races on purpose built circuits instead of the street circuits, it would just feel like a Formula 1 race with Electric Cars. The Street circuits make the races challenging for the drivers and more spectacular for the fans as both can expect anything to happen.

Silverstone no, but Brand or Donington National would be incredible

Yes, I think Brands Hatch would be a much better fit for FE, and it's at least somewhat accessible by public transport.

Silverstone is not easy to get to. I would be disappointed if it moved there. Leave Silverstone to F1. Formula E is a better fit in London.

It is cool to have formula E races that can be directly compared to F1 equivalents. However, the Excel is a unique venue and I'd hate to lose it. The circuit I'd quite like to see FE cars on is Brands Hatch, but I'd still prefer London as a street circuit.

If Excel doesn't want to host it then there aren't really any alternatives in London. Our rights of access laws mean any road closures for events must be approved by the prime minister, and any minor changes to layout year on year also have to get approved by the prime minister. Parks could be used, but Battersea Park hosting it was incredibly unpopular locally due to damage to the park. The only street circuit in the UK with an approved layout that I know of is in Birmingham and dates back to the early 90s/80s. Other than that, its permanent circuits only in the UK.

Here's one way out of left field. See of they could talk the city into letting them re-create the Crystal Palace circuit. It would be truly incredible if they could.

Formula e would have to run a shorter layout, and whichever way you look at it, they would miss either the loop and copse, the whole maggots and becketts, or stowe and abby. All are too good to lose.
