I thought what was crazy was that this video only had 30k views. What’s actually even crazier to me is that there is only like 60 comments.

Your comment made my day. After I read it, I went to a local patisserie and bought myself a cake to celebrate. If the channel blows up, you can count on a gift! In the next video, I'll break down the numbers behind the escape from Shawshank. It'll be up in about five days. 😊

Good recap of the movie! It would seem like Forrest doesn't change like in the hero's journey, but I think he does, it's just very subtle. The whole movie he narrates, it's like he's on the outside of his life. Until that scene where Jenny dies. That scene is so moving because for the first time he talks "to" her, not "about" her. He's aware of his feelings, where before he would just run when things got uncomfortable. He also becomes a responsible and caring father. Neither he or Jenny had that. It's a big change.

That was a great video you were destined to make it...I couldn't even tell you had a speech issue, just a heavy european accent. Keep making the videos I like Zemeckis and Spielberg movies. Zemeckis' movies revolve around this concept of destiny/fate...some good ones are Contact, Cast Away, Flight and The Walk. I encourage you to ask yourself a question Lt Dan asked Forrest, whether He found Jesus. There is a reason you used the word beJesus at 20:27....think about why only that name is used as a replacement for a cuss word.
@icantpronounceletterl
@icantpronounceletterl Год назад
It means a lot to hear you enjoyed it. I definitely plan on covering Spielberg and more Zemeckis. I re-watched The Walk a month ago. It's a fascinating movie, but I'm not sure I could do it justice. I will undoubtedly cover Cast Away. The next video will be about The Shawshank Redemption. Incredibly, no one on the internet calculated if digging that tunnel is possible, so in a few days, I'll fix that. Your question is phenomenal. I was completely unaware of my choice of words, and now that you brought it to my attention, I can't stop thinking about it. It's all the more fascinating given I rarely, if ever, say 'beJesus'. God knows how you spotted it.

Great video 😁 I feel the same way about the differences between the book vs the movie. The sentimentality and heart makes the film more enjoyable. The book has some crazy and adult moments that work as a funny story but the movie was well done.

Good review. Though i like Shawshank more think Gump deserved best picture. Pulp Fiction is great but to me it just feels like the movie tries too hard to be hip. I think the recent criticisms against Gump are wrong. Gump is indeed lucky but also demonstrates the exact traits that bring success, like focusing on the task at hand rather than trying to become famous, a hero, etc. The director could have done a better job with Jenny, but i hate when people say they hate her. Abuse victims often hate themselves. I like to think Jenny knew Forrest would have given her happiness and peace, but subconsciously sabotaged herself (also a common trait). So in a way, Forrest was also a victim of the abuse Jenny's rather caused. I also find it interesting that Lt Dan calls forest an idiot and moron when they meet in NYC. When the call girl ask if his friend is stupid, Dan loses his shit and kicks them out. So it seems he hates Forrest for "robbing him" of his destiny, but also has a deep respect for him. This is further implied when Dan actually becomes first mate. It sounds like he is just making fun of Forrest in the bar, but ends up actually doing it. I think he sees something in Forrest, not evening knowing what it is. But because he does, Forrest saves his life for the second time. The other critique is that the message is conformist, be a good American like forrest and paints a negative picture of antiwar protesters. But ask yourself, would the world be a better place if everyone treated each other with kindness and without judgment like Forrest, or went out and protested? Some situations the latter is call for mass protest but in most cases, society is divided on political issues. I hate Trump. Some love him. If we met at counter-protest we would hate each other more and further our divisions. Finally, people say the film is too sobby. But what makes the movie so magical is that it is seen through the eyes of a man completely free of cynicism. We could all learn something from that.
@icantpronounceletterl
@icantpronounceletterl Месяц назад
Spot on. Just spot on. I prefer Forrest, but we are talking truly two of the greatest movies of all time, there is no wrong answer. Agree about Pulp Fiction and Jenny too. As long as there are evil people in this world, we will need protesters to stand up to tyranny. But not everyone needs to be a protester. Like in sports, we don't need to all play the same role. Forrest is a wonderful role model. But that doesn't mean we all need to be his carbon copy. And even if Forrest's character is too pristine according to some, as long as there is audience that finds him captivating, the movie accomplished its goal. Thank you for taking the time to write this comment, I really enjoyed reading it.

Great video, you made a lot of connections in the movie that I failed to see on my own. I always thought it to be a great, humorous and inspiring movie, but I never really grasped the full message. Perhaps, when I am having a hard time, I will be able to think back and ask myself "What would Forrest do?".

I was in my mid 20's when this came out I knew a girl like Jenny I liked her she wasn't attracted to me I was her friend. She was only attracted to bullies and mean guys who treated her badly sure enough ended up a drug addict she once called me 14 years later wanting to borrow money she was living on the streets. No clue what happened to her probably dead. I've been married now 23 years never went looking for her.

All 3 were great movies don't see that anymore. Seems like all the good writing shifted to TV series which isn't bad, but I do miss when go to the theater with a box of popcorn and large coke get totally emersed into a movie for 2 hours. Now days watching these series on TV not the same to me. It's unfortunate I wonder how much longer theater movies will continue to be made.

No need to be sorry, you have every right to point out what you consider to be false. + If we all thought the same way the world would be a boring place. I still stand behind my claim in the video though. I played football(soccer) for a long time at a very good junior level. A teammate of mine went on to sign for Chelsea, and another one played for Benfica. So when I say technical ability is of utmost importance, I really mean it. When it comes to american football my experience and knowledge are much more limited. But the little experience I have playing says the kick returner must have good physical attributes and tactical awareness. The technical ability comes down to holding the ball tight in a few ways.
