Nice man! I have the Blade pedal and seriously love it! Side question, how loud are you turning up your amp on the master volume when tracking? Like 5 or 6 out of 10?
Not quite. The mesa is a triple with a lot of headroom. I usually push the channel volume up and use the master as my attenuator. it is like 3-4 max. It is very loud!
For the Baritone sounding guitar, I thought that they Tempest brought clarity but still gave it girth. Gotta be honest, you have now shown me how to deal with the blue channel on my EVH. I have the same head that you do and for the life of me, I can never get it to chunk up with out still retaining that flubby sound. I just realized that you have the Black Stealth and I have the Black/Gold EVH head. That probably is why y Blue Channel is flubby
The 50 watt EL34 EVH head is known for a blue channel that doesn’t really tighten up. The 6L6 stealth blue channel actually is pretty tight and benefits from a little more gain and low end. Some people claim that if you clip the c137 capacitor on the board of the EL34 version you can get a sound more in line with the 6L6 version of the heads. But this obviously voids any warranty. Using the Hauting mids pedal in the loop has been my most effective tone shaping tool. But any solidly aggressive OD with a low end cut in front will do a lot!
I'm from Tennessee, so obviously the Blade sounds the best😎 Seriously though, I prefer the clankyness of the Blade in the palm mutes. Probably not as versatile as the Tempest, but aggressive is all I need.
Just bought my first real 27" baritone guitar,- looking into the Fortin Natas pedal,- maybe with one of these in front...? Gonna have a couple of good days coming up,- I can feel it ....... :)
