Yeah I got a JCA 22H and I did the depth mod to it to try to get some thump. It worked to a certain extent but doesn't have the punch that my EVH 50 w has. I would sell that amp if I got a decent offer for it.
Yeah, I remember how hyped this amp was when it came out and that it supposedly sounded like a big amp... It's just another squishy high gain lunchbox with no thump that falls apart when pushed to rehearsal volumes. In the order hand, other "lunchbox style" amps like the MT15, Fireball 25 or Marshall DSL20HR do a much better job at high volumes because of their full size power tubes, the low end response is much tighter and punchier that any of the EL84 - 6V6 amps.
Great video Kyle, as Always. My favorite amps are FRIEDMAN and METROPOULOS. I've heard and tried out many amps, but haven't yet found a single amp that sound as good or better than my 2 favorite style amps. Neither are cheap, but both brands are so damn versatile, with so many amazing and useful tonal options, and stellar tones, making Dave Friedman and George Metropoulos Amp Gods, quite a few steps above all of the other amp makers.
Amps not bad! I’m not the biggest Sigil fan but then again I can’t say I own one. That Schecter is beautiful, however get that intonation set up or neck adjustment set you can hear mad string buzz on that baby! Great Video again Kyle.
Sigil is a surprisingly bassy amp for its size. I think the Mesa cab doesn't do it justice. Been using it with a 4x12 from Carvin (Legacy series) and that thing slays when it comes to high gain/crunch territory. However regarding clean sounds there's a lot to be desired there yet throw a couple of pedals like delay, chorus and maybe an EQ and the sound can be shaped nicely
Yeah I agree the standby thing isn't a huge deal, but yeah, for the price its not really good enough. He likes boutique prices, be better than a Bugera.
