Fortnite - "Enable Cross Platform Parties" Doesn't Show up in Settings - Solved

Most of the issues with Cross Platform Play on the Xbox and PS4 in Fortnite have been solved over the last few weeks but people are still having problems with "Enable Cross Platform Parties" not showing up in the options under settings within the game. This is despite the fact that most people can add their Epic Friends. There is a simple solution to this in many cases, though, and I detail that solution here.

Jude Slemon Are you sure you’ve added their Epic Games name? It has to be their Epic names not PSN, XBL or other name.

Exactly the same situation for me, Im on Xbox my friends are on PS4 Ive told them my epic name and also my email and no friend request is ever being sent. Any solution anybody?

I also do have some other friends that I added a few months ago that play on PS4 and I can play with them, but now when I go to add new friends or they add me no friend request is being sent out. (Could possibly be a bug due to over fluctuation during the Christmas season not sure though)

Totally agree. This issue has raised its head again for me and I can't seem to solve it this time. It seems the "Allow Cross Platform Parties" option has a habit of disappearing, even it it's been turned on.

same! I'm on ps4, and I can send a request to every other platform but xbox. I can only play with xbox users when someone on like Nintendo switch is already in a party with them and the Nintendo switch person invites me, but it doesn't let me add the xbox user as an epic friend.

Keira Hart That’s bloody weird. My first thought was that it could be a setting within the Xbox but then you said about people on other platforms already connecting to Xbox, so that probably isn’t it.

I had this issue but I fixed it. If you have your Xbox live account a child account, it won’t let you. What I did was I made another account 18+ so it could be an adult account. Before you make the account, unlink your epic games account with your Xbox live child account. Then make your Xbox live adult account, link your epic games account with your adult account. And problem solved Hopefully this helps

You can actually get Cross Platform Play working with child accounts but it can take a bit of messing about and a lot of patience.

Are you using their epic games name or their Xbox name? It has to be their epic account name.

If it’s not flagging up the request, it still might be there. Press the view button on the Xbox controller when in the game, then look under Epic Friends. Let me know if it’s there or not.

When you get a request to join the cross platform party, what happens? You say you can join, so I assume you see each other in the lobby, is that correct?

The cross platform parties dissapered ever since season 11 started. When ever my friend invites me that’s on Xbox I join but then get kicked out less than a second. My banner then gets switched to their banner. Anyone know?

If you can add Epic Friends (you should be able to), get one of them to send you a “join party” request. You’ll then be asked to accept. If you do, enable cross platform parties should then show up in settings. It will also be enabled. That’s what worked for me and when I tested it for the video, it worked for PS4 as well as Xbox. I haven’t tested with the Switch but I’ve not encountered any issues with the Switch as yet.

Yes, that's a fairly new development. It seems Epic don't want people having control over Cross Play. It's driving me nuts.

Is this on Xbox or PlayStation? Either way, you may need to change some settings. Unfortunately that’s a hard one as there are so many variables.

Cheers. Yeah, it’s changed now. The option is no longer there. It shouldn’t be an issue if you want to use Cross Play, though. It only becomes a problem when you don’t want Cross Play, as you can’t turn it off. Be sure to add your brother using his epic name rather than his Xbox name.

Not sure on this one. The fact it said the request was sent suggests you were using the correct name (epic account name), so he should have received it. Get him to check his settings. It could be some restriction at his end. Or try to get him to send you a request and see if that works.

Personally, I think Epic have lost the plot where Fortnite and Cross Play is concerned. And now they want other developers to adopt their tools. God, I hope that doesn't happen.

It is Season 10 now and I cant speak to players on PC and PS4 and I am on Xbox. The setting wont show up for me at the moment but when I get back on Fortnite I will try this method. If it doesn't work what do I do?

It may not work anymore. You can turn off cross platform play on the Xbox but that only seems to work for solos and it doesn't use this method.

Can you get a friend to send you a cross platform party request? That might solve the issue if you accept the invite. When you do, it enables cross platform parties in the options within Fortnite. You should then be able to switch it off. Not guaranteed as it's a bit hit and miss, but it's worth a try.

Having the same name shouldn't have any bearing on it but who knows. Cross Platform Play is so flaky at present that it could be anything.

Are you definitely using your Epic account details? If you have a PC try adding each other’s Epic accounts that way. They should then show up on your consoles as well, as long as the Epic account is linked to your respective consoles.

You wouldn't use your epic id, you'd use your display name. That's how I've added friends.

What usernames are you using? You have to make sure you’re using your Epic names and not your Xbox, Playstation or Switch names. If that’s not the issue, let me know.

What happens when you get a friend on another platform to send you a "ross Platform Party invite? Do you get asked to accept it? If you do, you should get the Allow Cross Platform Parties option showing up in the settings. You can then turn it off. Let me know if that works for you.

Are your friends using your Epic Account name? If they can't add you as a friend, that could be the issue. They have to be using the Epic Account name and not the Playstation or Xbox name.

This is an old video now, and things have changed. To play with people on other platforms you would need to know their Epic Account name. Once you have that you should be able to add them as an Epic Friend and join parties, squads etc.

Gabriel Rodriguez You need to bring up the menu on the left within Fortnite, then add them as an Epic friend (you may or may not be able to do this). If you can add them, once they are added you would select them and the option to send the Cross Platform Party request should be in the menu that pops up. If you find you can’t add Epic Friends from your console, then you could try doing it from a PC. It seems that doing that has helped solve the Cross Platform issue for a few people. Sorry I can’t be more specific on the details but I’m not currently able to access my consoles. If you’re still having problems, let me know tomorrow and I’ll look into it some more.

It’s possible but ironically, I’ve had more issues with the Xbox. I think much of it is to do with Cross Play being fairly new. Everybody is trying to work out how to get it working properly.

You could check to see if Fortnite settings are set to automatically reject requests. That's under settings. There's a tab at the top of the page that looks like a person. You should find the setting in there. I doubt that's it, to be honest, but it's worth checking before trying anything else. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.

You're definitely using the Epic username? It has to be the epic account name. If it's the Xbox name then it will return the "username not found" message.

So my friend is on PS4 and I’m on Nintendo Switch and when I try to friend him it show a message that say sorry the request failed. And on Nintendo Switch it doesn’t have a choice to enable cross play in the Settings.😭😭😭

AdrianxBigTimeエイドリアン Ok, this seems similar to the issue many people have been having on Xbox and PS4. First things first: make absolutely sure that you are using your Epic Account names and not your PSN and Switch account names. Then try to get your friend to add your Epic Account name instead. If he can, get him to send a Cross Platform Party request. If it works you should get the option to accept. Once accepted, the “Allow Cross Platform Parties” option should show up in the settings within the game. Let me know if that works.

Did you try to get someone to send you a cross platform party request? If you did and it still doesn't work, then I'm a little bit flummoxed at present. My son's account no longer has the option either, despite it having been there for several weeks after using the solution in the video. I'm trying to work out what's going on but it's a lengthy process.

That's a weird one. You could try getting a friend on another platform to send you a cross platform request. If you ok it, it should enable "allow cross platform parties" in settings. You can then turn it off. Hope that works for you.

It can disappear. It happened to my kid's account. Get someone to send you a cross platform party request and it should restore the option once you accept the invite. Let me know it if works. Sometimes it doesn't apparently.

Hi. I play on Xbox, and after the cross platform parties feature went missing, I have been matched exclusively in PC lobbies. I have never plugged in a keyboard, but despite this, every game I join everybody is a pc player and I am using a controller. Was interested to see if this issue is affecting anybody else, and if so, are there any solutions??? It’s pretty frustrating that I can’t play the game against other console players like I’ve always been able to. I appreciate that I’m kinda late with this comment, but any reply would be greatly helpful :)

Joe Chip Thanks for the reply! I’ve noticed that ever since the cross platform parties feature went missing from the options tab, this started happening. For me the issue is I can’t turn cross platform parties OFF, and I think that might be why.

Daniel Beech This is a bit of a stab in the dark but you could try getting a friend on a different system to send you a cross platform party invite. When they do that you should get the option to join them. If you ok it then the “Allow Cross Platform Parties” option should appear in settings. You can then go into the option and turn it off. As I say, this is a bit of a stab in the dark but it might work. Let me know how you get on.

Are you saying that you are playing against Xbox players despite there being no cross play settings? That's interesting. I'm not sure what's going on with Fortnite but things seem to have got worse again as far as Cross Platform Play is concerned. I'm started experiencing some issues with Cross Play again, and I've had a few people on here say they are having issues too. I'm trying to work out what's going on but getting to the bottom of issues with Fortnite Cross Play is never easy.
