The PS4 might be "over the hill" for some next gen gamers but it still has plenty of interesting small tweaks and settings we've figured out over the years. Here are some you may not have noticed. Subscribe for more: ru-vid.com?su...
The things that I miss the most on the PS4 that the PS5 doesn't have, are dynamic themes. Miss just sitting there on the main PS screen, listening and watching chilled Dreadnought dynamic themes.
Glad to see you guys still showing the PS4 and Xbox One some love. Realizing not all of us still don't have the new systems is a good way to keep your viewers happy. 👍
Hey man I would like to congratulate you on getting a ps4. My plea to you is to get bloodborne asap!! . You may not think much of it now but you will thank me later. Best of luck!
@@yurtthesilentgod1225 Another relatively new PS4 owner here, and that was my number one "if I had a PS4" priority since it released. But with all those rumors of it getting an updated version, combined with complaints of its inconsistent framerate as is, I've decided to hold out for now. I've waited this long already, it'd feel stupid to suffer through 30fps right before a better option finally came alone. More than enough other games to play for now anyway.
The load times alone make the console worth it. The games also look better and run smoother, even if they are technically available on PS4. As for next-gen exclusives, that'll get more common once we're done with the chip shortage in 20-30 years from now.
The ps4 is never going to die as long as the PS5 aren't on the shelves or available online Thank you scalpers (there will be a special place in hell for them all)
@@Masada1911 and I hope it never does like it ain't getting any more expensive than this while also maintaining next gen gaming That itself is not an easy thing to do for such an old console I still have my ps4 pro and will not buy the PS5 as i never even got to see one irl here so yeah I ain't switching
After owning my ps4 for 4 years playing so many games on it... my girlfriend accidentally unplugged it while I switched it on. I just lost all my progress😂. so yeah... this generation is starting over for me😂
The folder option was a huge game changer (pun kind of intended) for me when I discovered it. Having an OCD perfectionist personality, being able to organize all of my games by genre really helped to cut down on the clutter of my homescreen while keeping everything looking tidy.
I miss the days that “next gen” was truly next gen. NES to SNES was like whoa!! SNES/Genesis to PS1 was like Hell Yeah!! You get the point. Ahh the good ole days 😂
I've been saying that generational gaming is over. My friend says I'm wrong because Xbox proved me wrong because you can play last gen games.😒 Now it is GTA5 and GTA 5 and enhanced GTA5.
I hadn't thought about but you're right. Now it's just incremental increases, slowly inching towards true photo realism. Which is kind of weird to imagine.
Bless, I had no idea that zoom was an option. I’ve always been bummed by games that don’t have text embiggening options and seem to assume that you’re playing on PC with a close monitor. Thaaaaank you
1:05 Yeahh, I admittingly didn't know about turning off the controller for 10 seconds as well, I've been on my PS4 a lot lately, so thank you for this man
PS4 became my favorite console of all time the moment I bought a 4tb ssd. I literally have thousands of games on my ps4, all organized into folders by genre and alphabetical order. The ability to instantly play anything is amazing. I'm not even going to buy a ps5 because this is the last console I will ever need
@@enzog1078 yeah? You think I'm lying or something? You realize there are tons of collections, arcade games, and indy games on ps4 right? I mean I literally just bought 900 atari games for 40 bucks.
@@shubhammathur7048 I can't remember the brand off the top of my head (it's been a few years). But I will say I strongly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it. Only if you're serious about game collecting though, otherwise I'd say save a few bucks and get a 1tb
You forgot one important trick : Suppose that you want to put your console in rest mode while intending to continue a game, you simply enable rest mode while the game is running, once you turn your console on : just double tap the PS button, you'll get back right where you left the game. Thanks for the video
I think you can triple tap to go through three items on your PS (its pretty much menu, game, app, or settings) way more finicky than the double tap as sometimes it can get confused between double tapping
"The era of PS4 is done..." Yeah sure, during a world shortage of microchips, a plethora of POS scalpers hoarding PS5's and inflation/economy crisis, guess what... We're gonna keep our PS4's for a while...
30FPS is garbage. I haven't owned a console since 360/PS3 era until I bought a PS5 at my GameStop. I still primarily use PC but fuck me the PS4 was severely underpowered and wasted. It's too bad it's not even similar to GPUs that have 60FPS on PC. 30FPS on 1080P is hilariously bad.
@@noobbotgaming2173 This is so true. After being nearly PC-only since the PS3 days, life recently handed me a used PS4 and I thought hey, not exactly cutting edge or ideal, but it has a few exclusives of interest, and if I have one anyway, why not use it? 30 FPS is why not, I quickly realized. After being so used to 60+ on PC, that 30 fps hurts. How pixelly 1080p looks on a 4K tv sure doesn't help either, but argh, that framerate, worst part by far. Oh, and it has the loudest fans I have ever heard in any console or PC, by a wide margin. At first I assumed that was just because the poor thing was so dusty, (like, the outer grills had dust so thick it peeled off in a solid sheet,) but even after I disassembled and cleaned it spotless inside and out, only slightly less like having a hair dryer in the entertainment center. I seriously wonder if all PS4s are that loud, or maybe just the early model ones, or mine specifically, or what. And let's not forget the horrible load times while we're at it! Anyway, I can totally see why people would be eager to upgrade to a PS5, as well leave their old PS4 to rot at that point. They can't be replaced too soon if you ask me.
Thank you for the swapping controller connection to usb tip! The controllers on the ps4 die so much quicker than older systems and it's not easy on the console to keep it running almost 24/7 because the remotes need to be charged at least once every other day at best.
For number five you can also use the PlayStation app to change your background and profile picture to any image saved on your phone which I find the easiest.
A feature i always wanted in a PS4 is when its on Restmode and i wanna turn it off but I'm in a hurry i would just hold the PS home button for a few secs then it would start to Turn off, I've voiced this idea to some people but they all brushed it off as unnecessary but i truly believe some would want this.
Imma be honest, I didn't know about 9 out of the 10 on this list. And these are honestly really cool things to know. Would've been really great to know these tricks right from the jump though. Could you guys please do a list like this for the PS5? I'm sure it'll be ongoing as the updates roll out, but still would be really nice to know how to fully utilize a PS5.... When I can finally get one 😅 Thank you Gameranx for always coming through with the best gaming videos!
About point 8, i know someone people will be like "omg you are killing the controller that way" but i usually just charge my controller directly to the power source, so i dont have to deal with resting mode, it also works great if you have your ps4 out of reach and want to keep playing while charging it.
The use case for outputting PS4 audio to your PC is for capturing/streaming with party chat audio. Elgato actually has a specific splitter cable for this with one going to your headphones and the other to your PC. If you're using a headset all the audio goes there and not to HDMI, and there is no way to send all audio (chat and game) to both HDMI & headset simultaneously. (e.g. capturing Apex Legends gameplay with your teammates audio from PS party chat)
Tbh I’ve known about the zoom feature for a few years now, it comes in real useful in tons of games, or when I’m using my wireless controller from a few metres away
Same here but it's more of a case of I don't need next gen until the next gen after this next gen comes out because that's how long it'll take me to get through my backlog!
@@B-A-L Yeah, I still have a huge backlog. Tbh next gen hasn't really tempted me with anything either. I hop main consoles every generation, currently PS4 and Switch, was contemplating jumping on the new Xbox as my main, I dunno what PS5 has to offer me and i'm kinda annoyed with Sony lately.
Tip: I like to go on the web and google then get an image i want as my wallpap for my PS4 by just screenshotting, and you can just crop it when setting as your theme so idk i just thought that was pretty cool to do.
Just want to say that your to 10 list videos sense of humor is really good. I find myself laughing out loud many times while watching these. I love the gifs and animations for each point.
Are some of these the same on PS5 as well because I would love to use that zoom feature and no longer have to strain my eyes when reading books in Skyrim
I remember watching some of these videos before i got my PS4 like 4 years ago and some of these things in this vid, i either never knew, or found them out out of curiosity.
The longevity is something amazing I’ve had mine for 7 years and it’s worked like a charm hasn’t given me one issue other then the jet airliner fan but I dusted it and it’s perfectly fine now we have seen so many ps5 breaking down and they are not even that old but the veteran ps4 is still showing no sign of age games from ps4-5 are not a major leap like 3-4 so yeah I’m good with staying with my ps4 and pc until the ps6 comes out lol
Also with the using a usb cable instead of Bluetooth is that the is simply going to be less latency. It basically doesnt matter how badass your Bluetooth setup is it is nearly impossible to beat a hardwired connection
Wow! No lie, I am watching this on my PS4 [normally boot up my Series S], and I am learning alot. That double tap to change between apps just blew my mind.
I've had the PS5 since launch, but till this day I still find the UI confusing AF to navigate around. My brain can never remember the difference between short vs long pressing the PS button. The controller doesn't feel as comfortable as the dual shock 4. Sony went backwards on a lot of stuff on the PS5 just for the sake of "new".
1:10 What the hell? Okay, this is one that I DIDN'T know! I had my Ps4 for about a good several years now, and I never once heard about this--until now of course! It's so crazy to me that this little controller sitting next to me is capable of doing so many things (e.g. like Bluetooth sharing, and zooming) just by different combinations of holding the buttons! It's so crazy to me! 😱🤯
I used the audio through the controller feature when playing DJ Max Respect (a rhythm game). I found that doing this reduced audio lag substantially. DJ Max is the only rhythm game I played on the console, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this feature helped with other rhythm games as well.
@@YouJustAmazeMe Controller -> Aux -> Speaker sounds fine. I’m sure straight from the controller speakers (if that’s even possible) would sound terrible, but no reasonable person would try that. If you watched the video, then my original comment probably would have made sense to you.
@@patj007ddr I understood your comment perfectly fine dude. Playing audio through the controller significantly decreases audio quality and everything sounds flat. That's fine for some things, but a game built entirely around MUSIC? I guess you just don't really care, which is fine. But you're not going to sit there and gaslight me by saying nonsense like "it's perfectly fine" 🤦♂️
You cab make your background on the ps3 as well. Glad they kept that concept. But I didn't know about holding the ps button for 10 seconds. That can be helpful when I need to switch out controllers.
I will have a PS4 for a few more years. Once I can buy a PS5 for $350 then I will get it. There aren't any games worth it yet. And there are plenty of games I haven't played on PS4. Once Gta VI and Elder Scrolls VI comes out then I will think about it.
foo get Elden Ring I just finished it best 180 hours I spent in a game. Moving on the Red Dead Redemption 2 now that played a game good enough to be ok with the ending be spoiled... No man's Sky looks sick too I slept on that one so. much options
@@guillermolopez1377 i want Elden Ring bad. I just finished RE Village. Id like to revisit No Mans Sky. I haven't bought it since it first came out. And at the time it wasn't that great, but I've heard they have done wonderful things since.
I finally got my hands on a PS4 Slim back in April 2023. I mostly wanted to play the SP exclusives like GOW and Horizon. Our original XB1 does not want to load any game discs, on it but we are looking at purchasing the XB1 X soon to replace it so we can have a working XBOX console for once, and for the new consoles they are too expensive so a lot of people haven't purchased the new consoles yet but I have seen some people on Facebook sell the both of them for dirt cheap like $100-200
The ps4 is god like and will always be remembered, may future generations go back to it and see what it was all about... the Ratchet and clank reboot, the robot game where you could grow and showcased the particle effects that the ps4 was capable of... so many great memories
Well if you consider that the PS5 has been out for 2,5 and yet most people are on PS4 I wouldn't say it is over . Avaliability has also been pretty bad , games are not looking very ''next-gen'' and the leap from PS4 to PS5 is the smallest in the Playstation history . So in about 4 years from now , we will be seeing PS5 to rise . Till then see ya
Ps5s are every where wym if you don’t have one now your prob just broke. And graphic wise yeah it’s not a crazy leap but getting 120 frames or playing in 4K is huge. Plus loading times on m.2.
@@cinema_yo lol I'm not going to pay 700€ for a console that is not even that good . 120 frames are available on very few games and 4k resolution was first seen in the 2018 PS4 Pro . Loading times have been like this on the PC from 2016 . And also the stock is currently trash . So yeah maybe use your brain more
You forgot a bit about connecting a controller via the USB cable... On the ps4 pro it cuts lag by a whole lot. Basically the response is nearly the same as a mouse on a PC. Very handy for fps games
A cool one for PSVR is plug any HDMI console into the VR box and you can play on the headset, XBOX One, 360, PS3! It just acts like a 2D headset so you can game if on any other system if someone is hogging the TV!
#2 is actually useful for me because one pair of headphones and talking on discord app on PC. I have a 25in monitor next to my 55in TV on my desk and my PC tower and Playstation on a side table next to it. It looks jank but gives me more space for work and play.
I really hope the ps5 gets more available soon cos the last gen consoles are really underpowered now lol I feel sorry for all the people stuck on last gen. The games releasin on them are clearly struggling now but as long as the ps5s hard to get I guess they have to keep makin them for last gen
@BLS And the chip shortage will continue for years to come, now they don't even have enough for the machines that make them. (i readed this from online news)
You can also play pc audio through your ps4 controller. I found that out cause I was charging the front the computer while watching something and the audio got real low and sounded strange. So I had to go into my computer audio settings and disconnect the controller.
