Fortnite has REMOVED skin Rarity from the Item Shop and the community is NOT HAPPY. I stepped up to speak my opinion on that matter and Fortnite actually responded, which honestly dug them a deeper hole..

Hi happy power. 1.) Everyone is talking about they took out color rarity on skins and other things but that's how I feel way before they did that. Because they been adding regular rocketleague stuff on fortnite which they probably did it because that's why we don't have multiple trim lines rewards for the vehicles, wheels, trails, boost like on regular rocketleague. 2.) The rules of the game is changing its not the same no more so we need to adjust and like things at the moment when playing the games on fortnite. We are in the beginning of something new and probably huge in the future. 3.) We might get sports mode, Disney, fall guys, open world, dauntless. I say dauntless because I play it and noticed some things also I believe epic bought them out. 4.) Thank you to all who reads this that I have put together have a nice day and night. Enjoy fortnite and I'm your lazy chapter one season 10 OG player signing off till next time you read my words.

it really doesn't make sense to change it because the battle royale look was "outdated". Battle royale is the only reason Fortnite exists, and honestly the quirky looking ui of early fortnite looked really good, it fit the cartoonish aesthetic that the game had at the time and was a fan favorite for all players. I feel like they've done stupider things for sure, they're just continuing to insult our intelligence, they're just doing it directly now without hiding it behind the rarity rating. Epic could decide to charge 1200 VB for a skin over 800 because they choose to or they could choose to and slap a rarity rating on it to justify it, which is based on, well nothing, there's no legislation involved in assigning a rarity to an item. I'm just trying to put this in perspective, if we feel like they'll be lying about price qualifications, they've been doing that for years already but just using a valuation system that is of their own choosing to justify it

@@HappyPoweror just make PBE server for fortnite just like it is with league of legends, they test new features here too before some exploits hit the live servers and you can get league's currency inside the pbe so you can test skins on this server, you cannot transfer the currency to the main server though but I think this would have been a cool option for fortnite too

They said they're not gonna change the pricing but they've already made the avatar skins ridiculously over priced being 2000 vbucks each instead of the 1500 or 1600 price they would have had if they didn't remove the rarity system. "The old battle royale system of colours"- That is what they based themselves off of, that made the game unique, and one of the only things even resembling what Fortnite was in it's prime, now it's removed, I dont think anything in the main game is even the same as how it was anymore. It isn't the Fortnite I remember, this feels like a cheap knock off for me now

The rarity just felt so nice to look at plus it helped me decide which skin I wanted to buy and to see why it was That rarity! But now they're just trying to make Fortnite just as Bland like any other battle Royale game nowadays! I feel like doing THIS is just a way for Fortnite to pretty much Scam their players buy making us pay like double the price for what's possibly an Uncommon skin but we wouldn't know it's an uncommon since the colors,tags and rarity are gone! Just change it back Fortnite! No one asked for this in the first place! :(

First they added the stupid roblox menu that no one wanted. Then they added Lego, Rock Band, and Rocket League that no one wanted or cared about (Look at how many people play it, it's bad.) Now they added the worse locker change ever known and now taking out rarities. Honestly, Fortnite isn't really good anymore. I think Season Two of Chapter Five might be my last season. I started Fortnite at the very end of Season Six of Chapter One and got the battle pass the next season. How the mighty have fallen.

I particularly enjoy how, in removing item rarities, they completely DESTROYED how you sort your locker. Emoticons spread among all of the emotes, basic skins mixed right beside legendaries, and there's no way to sort it the way it was sorted originally. As a side note - Pickaxes still have rarities in game 😭

They say it won't affect the price of characters, yet a new one in the shop was skin only priced the same as isabel, a skin with 4 variants, 2 variants of back bling and emote.

I think they simply just mean they’re removing the color rarities from the shop but the item will still be labeled as uncommon or rare, or whatever. Simplifying the look of everything not having to worry about random colors being next to eachother in the item shop. Uncommon still being 800 and epic 1500 stuff like that the only change is the removal of the color

Whatever they have in mind, it's definitely not leading up to any good. Moving their focus from BR(which is what they're known for), screwing up the UI, item shop shenanigans, not having proper QC on dozens of bugs before staging the updates and so many other stuff.. epic really needs an overhaul and actually take into account what the community really wants :/

I understand where epic is coming from when you consider they never release epic emotes anymore just icon or rare ones, although I'll miss the rarity system I'm sure we will eventually get use to it. (Also just buy a skin of you want it and if you don't then just don't, a rarity should not dictate if you buy something or not).

Epic realizes they can get away with absolutely anything because theres a number of Fortnite players who will defend literally any change they make. Dont be surprised when they bring back old battle passes. Zero Build brought a wave of weirdos and 40 year olds to this game who complain when anything is "unfair". This is another one of these changes. They want everything to be fair and on a level playing field.

One thing I will point out is it's ultimately up to the consumer to think whether a price is worth the price or not. Even without a rarity. If you simply don't like a cosmetic, then don't buy it. Or if you think a cosmetic is worth the given price, then buy it. You don't need a rarity to figure things like that out.

I don't think the rarity being removed will change how much the skins cost because even with the rarity they could still scam people by making a basic skin "legendary" so they could sell it for 2000 vbucks. I feel like it's just become a lot more noticable because they removed the rarity. The yule trooper is a great example of this. They reskin a 1500 vbuck skin and resell it for 1500 vbucks. Moisty merman is another example where they make a basic skin and sell it for 2000 vbucks. In other words it's always been there but it's going to be visible to people who think that the "rarity" determines the price. Even if you say that the "rarity" means how often it comes out then compare recon expert to red knight. Red knight has come out way more than recon expert but yet their "rarity" are completely different. No matter how you look at it, you've still been scammed.

i could care less about the locker changes, i personally love how mostly everything is in its own category and the main page is the stuff you mostly want to see and the rest is for the minor stuff, the one thing i hate about the whole locker is the removal of the equip button, equipping this the moment you click on the item is a bad idea, especially when if you only hover over an item it stays on ur screen for 2 seconds then switches back to your equipped accessory, you want to check out the styles to a skin/pickaxe/backpack without equipping the item, nope you cant, you want to test the swing on this specific pickaxe but dont want to equip it since your not fully sure? nope you cant swing the pickaxe without the page bugging and showing ur equipped pickaxe. Epic doesn't have to revert the way the locker looks, it looks fine to me (they can def add more flair to the ui tho), they really need to fix the functionality of the locker and make it simpler to equip and preview items and styles

I don’t think that looking at rarity as a way to determine a skin’s price is the way to go. There are a lot of legendary and epic skins that shouldn’t be epic or legendary. There are a couple of rare skins that should be epic or legendary.

I mean, since even chapter 5 dropped i stopped buying any single skin from the item shop for fortnite releasing meh type of skins, i have been buying and having for fun in other games such as Team Fortress 2 and others. So basically the item shop for me is dead untill they decide to bring some good stuff there for once.

This isn't always true where higher rarity skins are worth more. Like red knight DOES NOT need to be 2k and legendary so i can see the other side. But i dont like the change

Epic assigned all these rarities. Have to ever asked yourself why something is legendary and should cost 2000 VBucks? Does it mean Epic put in more work into a legendary skin than they did with a common skin? You are buying pixels, not precious metals and stones. Epic always priced them however they wanted. What is different now? When Epic tells you something is legendary you are okay with paying a triple price but now because you don't see the legendary color you think you are overpaying. The argument about pricing based on color doesn't make any sense. However, I agree the new locker looks terrible and I want the old settings back. Also, I want to be able to save more than 100 presets.

I was thinking about sticking out this game for another chapter, but after this season I'm done with this game, its not just because of them removing rarities, but with the route their going down, this game at one point was fun, but now its just filled with children and sweats playing like their in a world championship

It's not a bad update as long as old Legendary item shop skins get reduced like that Jonesy dinosaur skin that is a rare at best. Highly doubt they would do that though, so its an L as of now.

I agree with what you say. I don’t think item rarity is outdated bc it’s been such a vital part of the game for years and no one has ever complained about it. The locker system now is such a pain in the arse to navigate editing a style of a skin your not wearing automatically equips it it’s so annoying. Also Fortnite’s listed as a creative game but when was the last time we actually got original skins related to the story, the theme or the game in general it’s been so long. I want to see what epic have done before but better bc they can do it chapter 1 was peak
