1: Know your cars and which class they peform best in. 2: Know your upgrades and don't just shove as much power you can get under the hood. 3: Know your tuning. TUNING IS KING! These 3 elements are most important in developing optimal performance.

The "fast is fast" thing is something a lot of people don't realise. I've always heard that people are only good because they play Forza or GT and that they will never be good in a "true" sim which is most of the time just wrong for the top drivers. Same goes with FPS games really. If someone is incredible good at, let's say, Battlefield, he will be also good at other shooters. Situational awareness, outsmarting people, aim etc all caries over. The rest is adapting to different gameplay.

Talking about telemetry: don't forget to switch "Anna" for "Telemetry" in the Advanced control options. I don't understand why Anna is a required option when you customize your controls, but yeah, you can replace it with Telemetry. #engamentgang

6) Learn basic tuning: Even just a small adjustment can make a difference. Things like tuning the gear ratios can help mitigate wheelspin and launch say a RR car better off the line. Of course, this won't help in fixed setup races, like the monthly rivals event. On a side note, I found that running sim steering is much more forgiving this time around. So much so that I can actually do long drifts with it on. Haven't tried cross country with it turned on though... I wish PG would do something about those illegitimate times and stuff related to hacking onto the boards.

Definitely agree about the brakes feeling weaker then FH4 or Motorsport, for me I've found setting the brakes at 90% pressure and balancing them at around 60 towards the front.

It should be noted, that turning off ABS is really only beneficial to the high tier racers who have the skill to push for top 10 on the leader boards. For the majority of people, there won't really be any gain in turning it off. I'm currently working my way around all the tracks, getting each into the top 1% in rivals. So far I haven't come across a race that I haven't reached top 1% with, and in some of those I'm in the top 100 with a few in the top 50, and made it into top 25 on like 2 of them so far. All while having ABS turned on. I'm sure I won't be in the top 25 in those 2 races for long as more people do them. Point is, turning off ABS won't necessarily make you faster, even with practice. What will make you a lot faster though, and I think is a LOT more important than having ABS on or off, is learning brake control. With out practicing brake control, it won't matter if ABS is off or on, you'll still be slower than you could be. Throttle control is also important, and becomes more important as the power of the car you're racing increases. This was something that wasn't mentioned in the video that I think probably should have been.

Can you talk a little about simulation steering in this game? I personally don't think it's worth using in online lobbies because of the clusterfuck they are, especially on cross country races. In rivals it could be good though. Nice video btw 👍🏻

Sim doesn't feel as dangerous in this game compared to Motorsport, before this game I hadn't played Forza in over a year and I haven't had a sim twitch yet. Haven't given it a go in mp though

There is a lot to this game. I pretty much finish at the end of the pack every race. Can’t seem to get better no matter what I experiment with. Too bad. I like the game. I feel like an amateur among professionals.

I have no idea how the most popular racing game on the planet doesn't have a proper fucking replay system for rivals and just in general tbh. It's actually mind blowing. Then again I guess they don't want people watching replays of the broken ass drivatars accelerating to 170mph in cars with 200bhp randomly so yea lol

Its so annoying on online fh5.. im always doing my best, but some drunk ass guy just passes by me total out of control.. on the straith lines they simply fly.. like omg 100m/h faster than me, and at the corners , they do them with so much higher velocity them me, I pull my joystick to the max and I have to brake down all the times cause my car simply doesnt have enough steering.. it doesnt make sense.. how could them have faster cars and at the same time have more steering and control? For my seems like ilusion..

It's because they're using either max hp rwd cars like the noble m600 or AWD pure handling cars like the lotus Elise gt1

I absolutely love rivals mode, but it's really lackluster in the fh series. I'm not sure if you can do it now, but I hope you can take the tunes of people who set leaderboard times for yourself #engagementgang

You can't do this in any Horizon game, unfortunately. Finding one specific leaderboard tune through the search is a pain. I don't know why they don't make it just like Motorsport.

You can just look at the creative hub of the rivals player and hope they have the tune uploaded. If they use a tune from another person you're fucked and have to look for it.

@@S3mj0n yeah that is such a pain in the ass, and people can always say that a tune is a record tune but actually make changes to the one they really used. That was a problem in FM4, the current FM system solves that

I see some guys talking a kit tuning. Do I need to reinvent the wheel and do my own tuning when there are ones I can buy from experts? I’m curious how many good races are using the steering wheel set up. Or have been gaming since they were 7. I’m in my 50s and just started a little over a year ago. Let me tell you; I have great respect for those of you who are great at these games. They don’t come easy to me.

I literally walked through tuning and parts setup with a friend step. by. step. By the end his car had at least 15 more horsepower, and another .5 worth of tires grip. SAME EXACT FERRARI 360. I am done with the game. Just fucking had it. Whoever made the building hitboxes on city tracks and these god-awful checkpoints needs to be strangled gently to sleep.

This maybe obvious but I'd like to add 'pay very little regard to the ingame breaking zone/racing line', it's helpful if you don't know the course but as you practice you soon realize it's mostly bullshit, especially the breaking zone thing . #engagementgang

About 6:00... It is the truth, but it's also really disheartening to a point. I finally got my friend to buy the game when I had about 120-ish hours in the game. This guy had no experience playing any forza game, maybe played a few old NFS games with a keyboard, never held a controller in his life... And suddenly from the get go, he's beating the absolute crap out of me no matter what kind of race we do, no matter what cars we use, similar or not. It's infuriating because it makes me believe I'm doing something wrong, while he isn't. And no matter how much I look or practice, he's just better. And I still haven't understood why \o/

Man the leaderboards in this game are a joke. I have hit 3 very fast lap times in rivals so far, and half the times above me are stock cars with auto gears going 1-2 seconds a lap quicker over a sub 1 minute lap 🤷‍♂️ Then all the top page or 2 are just stupid times, like 3 second laps.

Do you know how to drive those "powerbuilds"? The RWD cars pushing upwards of 1K HP. Everytime I get into a race with those guys its instant loss. Idk how the control those things

Throttle control if its RWD, or just put traction on, it's often not worth the headache to have it off

So a question about ABS breaking, does it actually cut down on people's lap times to turn it off? IRL the reason it exists is because you wouldn't be able to break nearly as well without ABS as you would with it (its the reason its been a safety standard on cars for like decades now), so wouldn't that make it so you wouldn't break as effectively? Thanks for the tips

Yeah it will make you faster in the game if you can do it well. Its a thing in real life for safety, as you mentioned. In an emergency situation you aren't gonna be worrying about the lock up point, you just wanna slow down and will slam the brakes as hard as you can, which would cause a lock up without ABS.

if you would keep it smooth you'd be a lot faster, in this clip i see you throw the car around and loose a lot of momentum with translates to not beeing that fast. smooth lines, smooth braking and knowing when to get on the power without slides is what makes you fast

Over 170 fucking cheaters on that leaderboard... that's disgusting. I was half a tenth behind that time you posted and I was 600 and something I believe, minus the 170 and that's almost top 400 (def top 400 for you, good stuff dude!) . I'll take that. It's always nice to know your pace is at least there, or there abouts when you are feeling not quite there on a newer game.

The real tip is to stop playing this BS game and play a driving game. FH5 is so far away from anything resembling actual driving that it might as well be a cooking simulator. As far as all the "cheaters", garbage games attract a lot of garbage people. This has been a problem in Forza lobbies for years now, and will never change, because Forza died with 4.
