Congrats Xbox fans, I'm a sony bloke myself but I applaud any game that puts this much effort into making cars and tracks as authentic as possible... plus Top Gear, no need to say anymore.
It's amazing how even 5 years later, this game is still beautiful. It was the first game I bought for my Xbox, and I remember being so excited to play it.
I wish Forza came on PC as well. I can not afford Xbox One because I'm a university student but I remember having so much fun with Forza on my Xbox 360 and I wish I could repeat that experience but I can not
I bought a halo 5 limited edition Xbox one for £159.99 pre owned and it came complete in the box, it's honestly like new. Maybe you should go out and buy one of you haven't already
Forza 5 is so far the only next gen game on Xbox one or ps4 that takes advantage of the next gen physics. So far most of these "next gen games" have been just an increased player count and visual enhancement. Tip my hats to the devs for making the best car and raceing simulator to date.
phatalityprophet Ryse was complete garbage, look at the reviews and user reviews it just makes me laugh xD, and Killzone Shadow Fall did not live up to the hype compared to Killzone 2 and 3, but it doesn't suck that game is like 7/10
NOTE: Forza Motorsports 5 was one of the 21 launch games for Xbox One that were released alongside the 3rd single album from Aqours, Happy Party Train. Released on November 15th 2013.
The American version is better imo because its funny and they always have crazy ideas. The UK version is more informative if you like that but I don't.
bob fred What a load of crap...the British version is all about ridiculous ideas like building a fold out house inside a van and building sailing ships out of an old Toyota. Also British humor is waaay funnier than American humor imo
TheTrollingHamster I agree the episode where Jeremy Clarkson was driving that 3 wheeled car was epic! Especially once he put training wheels on that piece of shit.
Next Forza they NEED to include night racing....I love night racing so much more, and that's why Gran Turismo has been my go to racer since it first came out.
It will. There wont be another console coming out at the time of the release of forza 6. They were rushed in this one because of the xbox one release. If theyd had more time i can almost guarantee it would have been in forza 5.
So, again, not many cars, only 12 little tracks, no night races, not much content. Yet it got a high rating? Tiny ass game, Not enough Simulation to be deemed to be a Next gen racing sim, where did they get 8.8/10 from?
I got on my brothers car to try and learn how to drive stick (I always drive automatic) and I failed horribly. Picked up forza and got so hooked into it and played the highest difficulty and mastered it and loved it. So last week I got on his car to try it again and you know what I got the hang of it and started to love it and I am selling my car to get a stick shift car. What I am trying to say is that this game taught me how to drive stick shift.
There is no other voice fitting better and automatically connected with the passion of cars than Jeremy Clarkson's. Great game, engine sounds are the best in racing genre!
I swear IGN is just contradicting themselves every chance they can... This game shouldn't score anything over a 7.2 when they review but I'm sure it will get 8.3 or higher
8.8 seems good....*looks in comments* ......PS4 IS SO MUCH BETTER OMG THIS GAME DOESNT HAVE ENOUGH TRACKS SO IT SUUUCCCKKSS.....damn fanboys can't admit one game is good, not even one
MasterChiefsGnasher why do fan boys exist. If you are a true gamer appreciate and play all the consoles. You can pretty much play everything for Xbox One on the PC now so PS4, PC, and Switch is what to own
sannukas0016 yep the more complicated games get the more they have to focus on a smaller selection of content, surely most have worked this out from the last gen leap up.
If I only had a few words to describe this game, they would be; micro-transactions, lacking (of both cars and tracks), over focus on graphics, and little attention to gameplay
SmartAleckVids I think Micro transactions are good because we only pay for parts of the game we want and leave out the stuff we don't want. Provided the base game is cheap. If FORZA 5 had a cheap base price then I wouldn't mind paying for extra maps an cars I like. But since the game s 105 dollars it is an unacceptable and a fail of a release.
I'm not going to lie, this game looks like a watered version of Forza 4 with little improvements and large amounts of DLC's to make up for its lack of content.
They probably had limited time to get it ready for launch. Most launch games suffer from this, next set coming out to PS4 and MS in March should be more polished
To be fair though this is a launch title, where as Forza 4 wasn't, in fact it came out later into the Xbox 360's life, so it's possible it had more time to develop than this because Forza 5 had to be ready for launch, that being said it looks like a more than solid launch game and a more than solid racing game, kinda like how Killzone is for the PS4 with it being shooter instead.
John Rivera Nope, they are trying to make a few extra bucks for starting next gen by making you buy cars in future DLCs that have already been in Forza 4. Marketing strategy that idiots will fall for every time. they started developing this game soon after Forza 4 release so in 2 years time And MICROSOFT MONEY* they should of had this with atleast 350+ cars and I understand the tracks, that's hard to capture with thousands of photos synced to graphics but this is a big disappointment.
Just a minor nitpick I've noticed while playing, but has anyone noticed the stock-photo crowd and PIT-stop crew? Note: nothing major, don't hound me down for noticing a small detail like that. I was just not expecting that from a "next-gen" game with a rather nice game engine.
I can understand that the E3 Demo would have that sort of thing, but im assuming that Pawptart Gamer bought the retail version and it has that sort of issue. I dont mind them cutting corners in games generally, but some stuff like that shouldnt have been in-game i think. Like to me it wont make or break my experience, but looking at it as next gen and what they can do with so much more power surely that sort of thing shouldnt have happened. Know what i mean?
Faeez Hendricks It was the retail version, yes. That's what I was saying. I would expect that on an Xbox 360 version so the cars have more fidelity. I'm guessing those rumors about them using high-end developer kits at E3 was true, or no one took the time to notice at the event. I still have tons of fun with it and the cars look awesome, but I would expect my $500 "next-gen" system to pump the extra juice and at least have a polygon crowd, or something.
So true. I know they need to make money from there games, but seriously they should have stuck with at least 500 cars from the start and then include DLC of newer upcoming models, concepts, prototypes even, maybe new fun game modes (Park mode to test parking skills and you can base your outcome with accuracy and how fast you can park) maybe in fun Drift modes or something as DLC or like a kinda of Canyon Duel similar to Need4speed Carbon. The one on one style races on mountain passes. I just think with examples i gave that they should be thinking a bit further just to add more value to DLC instead of just extra cars here and there.
Pros -Plenty to do. -Clever AI. -Great online and multiplayer features. -Runs at a full 1080p with 60fps. Cons -Short on content for cars and tracks. -Some very visually unpolished sections in the game. -Poor lighting. -Less than stellar visually, especially as car games go. -The lack of features like weather and night racing. My score = 8.4
I played the demo of Forza 5 at Best Buy. I was pretty disappointed, honestly it felt like I was playing Forza 4. Its funny how Forza 4 had 500 cars and Forza 5 has 200 cars and 80% of the cars are micro transactions wow pathetic!
People should not call F5 a race simulator game or any game a sim until you actually sign up & play IRacing. So practice racing, daily testing, timing, pitting & tuning for (5)+/- days just to be ready to race (1) main race a week= A sweating heart beating, nervously brain racking true simulation game. Forza is like a Jr sim or a serious racer genre.Which is cool!. That I can jump in and go without the crazy options of IR.
Just looks like a polished Forza 4. Read that the track and car count is quite low. Not sure how many old tracks are in the game. No way is this worth full price.
Sorry, but the amount of the grinding to get cars in the game can't justify 8.8. And you didn't even mention microtransactions. Sorry, but in my opinion this game is only 7.5 at best. The pacing of the game is messed up pretty bad. The game is awesome and really fun, but the grinding and microtransactions ruined the whole experience.
Snowmangaming92 Are the microtransactions as bad as they say? Greedy shit like this just makes me want to flip shit. If it is that bad, I'm definitely just skipping out on the Xbox One. Knowing microsoft, I doubt it's just Turn 10 doing all of this.
I own forza 5 and i kind of like that you have to earn every car. It makes you think about what car you buy resulting in you appreciating them more. This also has made online mode more interesting in my opinion.
jim bob No, simply no. The car lotus is 50 dollars. I don't wanna spend 45 hours to get it. (which I actually did, it took me 45 hours.) Grinding should not be the "meat" of the game. It's like if I buy the 60 dollar title everything should be obtainable without paying in a reasonable time. If I buy NHL, I shouldn't be paying or grinding to be 1 team. See it makes sense.
***** Yeah because a next-gen racers should just reduce the amount of cars & tracks, amp up the graphics & have rather questionable drivatar A.I. It's an update. Like I said, 6 will be the true leap. It's still good, but not as good as it should've been for what Turn 10 touted as next-gen.
If Forza celebrates cars then why say 500 cars and have only 150 available? No, they celebrate the fact that people love playing with those cars so much that they will give Microsoft their money. I'm usually ok with micro transactions but this is outrageous, it would be like me buying FIFA and having to pay to be able to play with Manchester United
Credits really aren't that hard to get so if you spend money on token packs or whatever the microtransactions are you are ridiculous. They don't want cars to be "easy to buy" so why not just rob the people who are too lazy to earn things ^_____^ fine by me! Not my money haha It is ridiculous though how they push for them. Also, they said the game would have 150-200 cars, which it does. 500 cars was a statistic from Forza 4, which they couldn't do because of the amount of effort they put into remodeling the cars, they just didn't have the time to get all 500.
Si it just me or have i heard this "Skynet versions of other people" some where else. If you remember Real Racing 3 the mobile game have the same idea.
It's not rushed, if you read an article on ign you would understand that they use laser scanning for their tracks which takes a very long time. They tried scanning more tracks but they didn't meet their expectation for QUALITY. A car in this game also takes 6 months to make. I'll take quality over quantity any day but if you are disappointed then fair enough, at least I can enjoy the game.
Gonna stick with Forza 4 because i rather have more Content then just slightly better Graphic's, gonna wait for Forza 6 to make up for Content unless Forza 5 adds those missing Cars for free.
cornmen12 +bobthemidget98 This coming from the people that old me they would like a game with more content that better graphics(Your excuses with DR3 and Ryse) Stop being ignorant.
Forrza 5 was obviously rushed out to be a day one exclusive which show with the lack of cars and tracks. Hopefully GT7 can do better and bring us a real next gen experience.
***** Where did I say anything about GT6... and yes forza was rushed the visuals look great but the game has only half the tracks and cars that forza 4 had. They rushed it out to be day one when they could have taken more time to add more cars tracks and things like night driving, dynamic weather and offroad.
Exactly, most of the tracks were incorrect and looked terrible which is why they didn't make it to launch, they had to rush for day one, they didn't have a choice!. It isn't because "turn 10 is being greedy".
Oh look, here the IGN guys barely don't mention any bad point of Forza, unlike in the GT6 review where they say absolutely everything they can to bash the game... What about forza being a FAKE ASS game? Fake sounds (over the top, unrealistic) Fake graphics (too glossy cars) Fake handling cars (a bit arcade-ish)
Graphics are not to glossy. The sounds are accurate. Just because they sound like law mowers in GT6 doesn't mean that's what they sound like in real life. The handling is adjustable from like you said arcade like to full simulation. When you crash into a wall at 200 MPH with damage on then you car is pretty much useless for the rest of the race. Its as much as a simulator as you want it to be. The car and map count are truly disappointing that being said every car in the game looks amazing on the track and in Forza Vista mode.
Sound are all nearly spot on. They've been recorded from the actual cars. GT6 pure physics are good but the game effects really let it down, it's hardly much different to GT5 I feel after playing it for a month with a G27.
***** Sometimes GT looks so good that you think it's a real life picture, thats why it's graphics are just brilliant. On the other hand, in Forza 4 (I say Forza 4 becuase of the hardware equivalent) you notice its not real life, but a video game. Thats the difference. Can't wait to see how will GT7 look on Ps4. My bet is: it will be JAW DROPPING.
***** Yeah, but the shadows and blurry details are basically the PS3 reaching the limit and not being able to handle proper shadows and stuff. Thats why I said GT7 for PS4 will be amazing because all the imperfections that carries the PS3 will be fixed.
Ive got a general question, I was playing today and I came to realize that the game automatically breaks for me when going round corners, is there any way to turn this off? cause it seriously lowers the experience of the game for me. I assume its got to be something with the difficulty settings.
Lee Goodman Sir.. You need to fix you logic. If they did not want your money.. The game would be free. There is a process to making games that you do not understand
i haven't got either of the consoles yet, i'm starting to drift towards the ps4 but whever i see a video of forza 5 it makes me want to just change my mind and get an X1. its a hard lyfe
I'm downloading it right now cuz the special idditon was on sale for 30$ I like the free cars, this makes me even more exited for it to download faster
Difference between Forza 5 and Gran Turismo 6: Forza´s pros and cons: + Sounds + Graphics - Handling physics - Gear change sound Gran Turismo 6 pros and cons: + Car selection + Track selection + Handling Physics + Multiple racing events( rally,F1,GT racing, karting....) - Sounds And that´s it. And remember Gran Turismo is a last gen game FOrza is Next Gen.. Can´t wait to see GT7!
tee duke GT is considered the realest racing sim series because of it's amazing physics model something the forza series can't top. The reason GT doesn't have have damage models is because of the large amount of vehicles, it would take the developer too long and cost them to much to implement, also many vehicle manufactures would only allow some there vehicles to show damage not all, also they have control as too what extend the damage shown will be
I feel a bit like IGN is trying to damage PS4 in a way. I understand DR3 and Forza scores but I think it's bullshit that Killzone got reviewed by a person who doesn't like the series. It's feels unfair
Killzone was dissapointing, pretty, but boring. Multiplayer is fun but I think I'd have better fun on BF4 or ghosts, so I think it got an unbiased score
...Don't forget...Inferior physics...Inferior frame rate...That's HUUUGE when it comes to a racing sim...You can have your inferior game, I'll still with Forza 5.
if only Gran Turismo had the car sounds from this game I just love the way the car sounds in this game unlike the beauty of hearing vacuum cleaners in GT
***** it will be the same than current gen...xbox starts well and end up having only 5-7 exclusives that are worth mentioning while ps4 will have at least 20-30....I just think that....wait and see :)
w3r0ification whats wrong with flower and other indie games? you don't like them because they use imagination and innovation to make their games? and yes there will be lots of amazing PS4 exclusives in the long run same happened last generation
Gran Turismo 7 on PS4 will beat this game easily.Only 200 cars, few tracks, not that great and realistic gameplay,microtransactions....Pffffff.......Ok this game looks beautiful until Gran Turismo 7 comes out and beats it easily.Lets now see what Driveclub has to offer too.Need for Speed was a dissapointment too.
When Gran Turismo 7 or whatever its called comes out, it will be years from now. At that point, we would be comparing it to Forza 6 which will ultimately win.
Stavros Kyrtsos Naaaah. You can change the settings in Forza to make it more realistic if you want. They give you the option which, in my opinion, is far better.
Stavros Kyrtsos It's also a FACT that Gran Turismo developer Polyphony puts a crap load of cars in their games and fails to put a cockpit view in over half of them. Some racing sim...
GT needs to work on there collision model and sound bits. then we can talk. and although forza 5 isn't the best we can look back to its predecessor Forza 4 and its 600+ cars
So if i want a car sim with the best controls and customisation options. This or Grand Turismo on ps3? Yes i know different gen but i don't care. I'm hoping for an answer from someone that has played both
It ridiculous how much money they expect you to pay when all they do is reduce the content, then on top of that you pay more with DLC. Games have gone shit.
SApcGUY Also, the developer of Need for Speed Rivals, Ghost Games, has taken notice and will consider making an Underground 3. But the Executive Producer said that if he knew a new Underground game would be able to sell more than it's predecessors, he would make the game.
That idea of MS paying ign for reviews. Really people? If it was the other way around and PS4 got better reviews people wouldn't think that Sony paid ign...... Correct me if I'm wrong but there was an MS ad at the start of videos not about PS4 and suddenly when they're on videos about PS4 that's when it suddenly matters..... Leading to both their release, both had starting ads, however, it seems to people that only MS paid ign...........
It looks like just as last generation with the Microsoft Xbox 360. the Xbox One is home of the definitive exclusive experiences. And the definitive exclusive sim racer available on the market today. With the likes of a variety of gaming gems such as Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and Forza 5 up to this point. The Xbox One Home Entertainment Media Center is an well rounded all in one gaming machine. Leagues ahead feature wise, graphically, online wise, and offers much greater AAA titles than any other next generation platform on the market today. The Microsoft Xbox One will go on to out do the competitors by a significant margin. The People and critics have spoken. The Xbox One is set for pure domination and Forza 5 is just the beginning. This will be a very exciting generation for Elite Xbox supporters. God bless the Xbox One and no one else. Rated E For Everyone
personally I like the idea of no free play, e.g if you really want to drive a certain car you have to work hard to earn enough credits to buy it, so you really feel something special when you finally buy that hypercar you've been eyeing for a while. Besides, its not too hard to accrue large sums of credits as opposed to gt4, I was glad just to buy a stock corrolla back when I still had a ps2
So its, forza 4 with less cars, less tracks no new features no dynamic light/weather and ageing partical effects(tire smoke looked very poor) but on plus side cars look better and awesome AI. I think 8.8 is a little high I was thinkin it would get an 8.0.
I don't know if I'm missing something, but on free play, am I really only limited to try the rental cars and/or buy (using CR or TK) cars that I want to just drive? What ever happened to "free" play? I want to try out a lot of cars for free but I don't have enough CR to afford all of them! D:
Purchasing an xbox one just for the forza franchise, it really it leaps and bounds ahead of gran turismo in terms of game mechanics at the moment and overall i just like the way forza feels more than i do with gran turismo. I own a ps4 also and even though driveclub has just been released i am not keen on the arcade-like handling. My point is the ps4 is really lacking a great driving simulator in my opinion.
I assume there's a bit of content compared to the other entrys in the series because only so much you can do with super high quality graphics and a regular cd disc.
