Bought the Fosi Audio DA2120C Bluetooth 5.0 Amplifier 240W Stereo and a set of Jamo S 803 speakers so the whole system $337.00. Now it isn't a high end stereo but for a the right room, it's great. I use with BT and stream from TIDAL or Spotify from a phone or tablet and it's great. Thanks for your review!
Do you think the FOSI DA2021C Is a better device and Has a better sound than FOSI Audio V3 Amplifier? And, do you think FOSI DA2021C Is better than FOSI ZA 3?
This Fosi Audio DA2120C integrated amp is currently $149.99 Canadian on Amazon, but there is also a $50 off coupon right now, so for $100, this amp is a steal. :)
Very nice review. I have the douk version that has tubes and dac only. It works good and has bass and treble adj on remote instead of the presets. I put it on an Aiyama A07 amp w 36w 10amp power supply brick type. Supposedly boosting amp to 120watts. Who knows exactly but it drives my polk tower speakers like they should. Interesting thing about these Chinese dacs is They really need tone controls bass mid treble or a true 5 band eq. To reduce the rough mid to highs. Some of those higher frequencies can wake the dead.🤣. It has the little tubes in it but I turned the tubes off that's another thing you can adjust if you want it to use tubes or not from the remote It is the DAC T1 Pro. Basically it's a dac with tone controls and a remote. I was surprised there aren't very many units that do that and that extra 2 features makes it good for living room for tv audio and laptop for music. The only reason I say that is because it looks like it's basically made in the same factory with the same volume knob, screen, and everything so thought I would add to it. I can see how the subwoofer would have made it a lot better considering the kind of metallic sound from these types of dacs. My other tube integrated amp the Douk ST-01 sounded warmer with thick bass and full sound but this one the Dac T1 pro is very clear and has a cleaner output for amp instead of the 3.5 line out on the st01 that buzzes a tiny bit on the amp w bigger power supply the dedicated dac w rca plugs did not but tubes are not as effective.
refreshing to see audio reviews from people like you who try to get best audio from low cost device reminding us it is only midfi without the unnecessary audiophile hifi snobbery. i am curious curious to know how it fares sound wise against the well reviewed $80 aiyima a07 that removed all unnecessary features (not even offering tone controls) focusing on sound quality / price ratio
Thank you for the review. I was wanting to buy some active speakers for my office and was having a hard time making a purchase decision. Weeks went by and I became fond of speakers in the 700-1300$ range, but I just couldnt make the leap into a new set. I have many speakers I retired and put aside and sadly forgotten about. I recently hooked up my Athena B2 bookshelfs and fell in love once again. So because of the small footprint of the Fosi I will be putting the Athenas back into good use in a few days and I'm very excited. Thank you
Been a few days and I am absolutely floored. I pushed the speakers more than my Harman Kardon receiver was ever able to and there was no distortion at all. I'm not able to go over volume 65 because it is just too loud and I'm very surprised by that. I keep the EQ at Normal , bass +2 and treble +4, volume 40 and that's my sweet spot with no ear fatigue. The unit doesn't get nowhere near as hot as my HK receiver and only warms up a smidge even after 3+ hours. BT sounds great but with USB to my PC at 192Hz and Spotify playing, quality sounds even better. I'm hearing things I've never heard before in my favorite songs and couldn't be happier experience it all over again. The Athena's sound amazing and I'm very glad I seen this review and made the purchase. Thanks again, Cheers
My speakers Are the elac debut 6.2 ,and im Kinda new to the Audio Game .i Rly dont know if it will pair good with the speakers and will it be a big upgrade
Thanks for your detailed review, nice job ! , One day when save size meters for my Beast ADCOM GFA555 MK2 , I will consider this small size footprint hhh.
I was going to buy a topping dac for my Pc but i guess i could save money and just go for this and i'm guessing I wouldn't need to bother with my pre amp either then.
Great review, appreciate the effort. I'm looking to use for a TV amp. Does this remember its power state on the power button. ie., if its on and you unplug the power supply & reconnect, will it be powered up without pushing the power button again ?
Thanks for the review, subbed ! Really tempted by this to tune my kitchen. I'm thinking of pairing this with some in-walls B&W CCM362 (or maybe some CWM652 if I want to upgrade, but I'm not sure if this amp is worth it or if I want the budget for a system that is primarily designed to have background music, ideally more or less precise even when the kitchen hood is full on). What is your opinion on that combo ? This is my first system, so I don't even know if they compatible in terms of power etc. Thanks !
Thanks for listening and subbing. This amp will definitely power those speakers well. No doubt. This is a great Integrated amp for a kitchen I think due to its small footprint and connectivity options. If you plan on using it streaming music with bluetooth, then it should be ideal.
@@sidsreviews1110 Thanks for the response ! Do you think the ccm362 will be powerful enough for casual kitchen background music OVER a noisy active kitchen hood while cooking ? Or should I consider upgrading to CWM652 ?
Can the equalizers and bass and treble control be managed through the front panel? Or is there a complete dependency on the remote control to perform the functions?
@@sidsreviews1110 Awesome, thanks dude! Thinking about buying this amp to run a 2 channel setup for my TV. Don't want/need a big old stereo or AV receiver.
Thanks very much for the review. Just wondering - when connecting a sub, is there any way to dictate the crossover frequency or how does this unit determine what frequency to do the crossover? Thanks again.
@@sidsreviews1110 Hi Sid. Thanks very much for your reply!! Yes, that was what I was thinking alright. Bit of a pity as one of the benefits (as I understand it) of having a crossover on a amp/AVR with a separate active subwoofer is that it allows the amp to use it’s power for the L&R speakers only for frequencies above the set crossover. It would seem that without this crossover setting on the amp that the amp will still be sending the full range of frequencies to the L&R speakers and that the crossover on the subwoofer will be just controlling what the sub is handling as far as which frequencies it will deal with. Still though it is a very interesting unit and I’ve gone ahead and ordered one. Should be here Friday so looking forward to checking it out. Like yourself someone has asked me to make a recommendation and not looking for a full blown AVR type solution. I going to be trying these with a pair of Q Acoustic 3020i speakers. For the sub I’ll be playing around with a mediocre Jamo (which I have spare so would be able to give to my cousin) and a BK sub which is a much better sub that I’d be just experimenting with the Fosi amp (as I’m not giving away that one 😉 ). Should be interesting. The connections and small size make it a very appealing proposal. So as long as it has enough juice for the job it should be a good way to go. I am debating as whether to recommend this with the 3020i speakers and the Jamo sub or to go with Edifier S350DB active speakers with sub. While I don’t have the Edifier S350DB I have their R1850DB with the Jamo sub connected which I think would be comparable to the S350DB setup. While the R1850DBs with the Jamo sub is very respectable sound and my cousin would likely be perfectly happy with it, it doesn’t compare to my Q Acoustics 3020is connected to Denon X2700H AVR (not that it is a fair comparison due to price/footprint, etc.), so it’ll be interesting to see what the 3020i are like connected to this Fosi unit. Anyways, sorry for waffling on and again thanks very much for the review and your reply!!
I'm interested in how the power works on this. Can you get it to power on the moment it's plugged in to power, or do you have to hit the power button? Or does it happen to have auto-power off/on based on audio signal? Thanks!
Great review 👍🏻 . I’m looking for amp to help my center channel in my 7.1 set up I’m running a klipsch RC-64 iii got a deal that I couldn’t pass on . And with the Yamaha RX-A1080 sounds pretty good but I think it just needs a little bit of a push to get it moving a little quicker. I was looking into an emotiva amp but it is ridiculous too expensive!! Is there something under 200.00 that I could use just for my center channel or maybe just get a 3 channel amp under 400.00 so I could run the center and the surround backs ?? Anything cheap out there ?
Man under $200 for an amp will be tough to find I think. Maybe on the used market. My question is, what do you find lacking in the centre channel? Is it dialogue?
@@sidsreviews1110 yes dialogue I have it bi-wire and that didn’t help don’t get me wrong it sounds good when there’s action scenes all my other speakers are good . This center channel might be to big for my set up but is gonnna have to work some how 🧐. I heard that an amp gives you a different and better sounds so that might have to be my alternative. I looked in Amazon found a OSD Nero XA5180 class H 240w x 5 that’s $699.00 would this give me better control of the center channel? And I’m sure it will help all my other speakers. But is not cheap 🙁
@@ccheg.v.6407 A separate amp to handle all your speakers can deliver better control no doubt. I can't comment on that particular Amp as I've never tried it.
@@ccheg.v.6407 The RC64III despite its great 99dB sensitivity, according to its specs needs 200W continuous power. No need to go that high, but let's say the 1080 is somewhat inadequate. We'll get back to that later. Your 1080 is 110W@8 with only two channels driven. Who knows how much less, it outputs with all channels driven...So let;s say you need a bit more "juice". Under $200 there's nothing that can give you that. I'd buy a power amp and use the center channel pre out of your 1080, to connect the two. The 3 channel power amp is of course an option. I'd consider Emotiva's brand new model BasX-A3 (3x140@8) for $500. As for the 2 channel option I'd consider the also brand new model Emotiva BasX2 (2x160W@8Ohms) for $450. The OSD AMP300 at $400 and 2x150W@8 AB Class. There's also the mono option of an OSD SMP300 power amp (D Class 150W@8) for $350. Several remarkable power amps from pro audio manufacturers like the QSC RMX850A (2x200@8, AB Class), the D Class Crown XLS1502 or the smaller 1002. All three under $500. Last but not least, from renowned Swedish manufacturer Lab Gruppen, the new D Class PD3000 with LF, HF and full range filtering at a whooping 2x800W@8 for however a steep $600. By the way the OSD Nero is 120 Watts RMS@8 all channels driven. More expensive and less wattage. www.osdaudio.com/amplifiers/multi-channel/200w-5-channel-class-h-stereo-amplifier.html Now forget all that. Let's assume your 1080 outputs as low as 65W@8 with all channels driven. With your RC64IIs at crazy high 99dB sensitivity, you get 106dB SPL at 12 feet distance, from it. Are you sure this ain't enough? 106dB SPL is between as loud as a helicopter close by and live music loud ...If the answer is still no, then how come your other speakers (R, L, Srd) can sound fine? They must have a sensitivity of more than a 100 and I really, really doubt it. Never heard of or seen such thing, to be more precise.
Thank you for the review! Have you had a chance to test it out on movies? Looking to use the optical port for this on my bedroom TV with my bookshelf speakers. Second question - When you set the eq to specific preset, and then change the treble or bass after, does the change alter the preset or does the sound eq go back to flat and then it changes the treble and bass levels?
Good review. I just switched from some older Polk towers and center for a great deal I got on some B&W 606 bookshelves. I have them connected to a Yamaha RX-V565 with optical to the TV since it's non-4K. It was a budget receiver years ago when I got it and have always thought it didn't sound very good. Would this make any noticeable difference in sound compared to an older budget receiver like this one? Thanks for any advice!
Hey Sid, I bought klipsch r-51pm speakers. They’re powered. They make an annoying hiss/static sound 1-5 ft away. Neither my jbl soundbar nor my logitech 2.1 for my computer have this problem. Does this amp create an annoying hiss or static sound??
@@daledrolet1332 Appreciate it. This will give me an idea of which speakers to pair. Randy at cheapaudioman recommends 3030i, Elac b6 debut, & Micca rb42
@@schoeffeur4762 I've owned the Elac and the Micca's Both very good for the price. Never heard the 3030i but my sense is it would be the best choice among the 3 you mentioned.
