I notice the Marantz was more detailed on the highs and a little less boomy on the bass, I can definitely hear a difference, I like the sound of the Marantz better.
Fosi offers a 48v 5 amp power adapter, it got it when i purchased my v3 it helps a lot. 32v5amp 4ohm 100w 8ohm 50w / 48v5amp 4 ohm 230w 8 ohm 115w. its defiantly worth upgrading the power adapter.
I love mine paired with Gale 3010’s and a Bluetooth streamer set up in my bedroom. It makes you wonder how something this small can sound so good? but it certainly does.
Buying one of these for my bedroom as its small and Bluetooth to hook up my Klipsch Rp600m speakers to . I generally don't use Bluetooth for audio unless I'm at work but for lying in bed to relax I think this setup will do .
I got the Fosi V3 paired with Fosi DS1 headphoneamp streaming Tidal Hifi from my phone's USB C and I did an op amp roll with OracleII-02 op amps. Try it - a really good! It plays as good as my 10 times more expensive stereo setup. Speakers are XTZ Spirit 4 with upgraded filter components. Unbeleavbly nice for almost no prize!
All the TPA3255/51 amps are very similar in design. The difference lies on the components, more specifically the coupling capacitors and output filters( inductors and capacitors and bypass caps). The original A07 and A04 which had better components did everything right except the output inductors. New designs like the Fosi V3 does everything mostly right. It's components are audio grade(not the highest grade Elna Silmic II, but a decent ones), but the output filters are very high quality. I wonder what would it be if the Fosi used the best coupling capacitors. I recently got the new A04 with tone controls, and that design is very good. I'm planning on upgrade the coupling capacitors which are not the best ones or probably fake ones. A good Nichicon Fine Gold and Muse KZ will do.
Thanks for a very good review. It is amazing to me that these modern Class D amps can be so good. Here am I farting around learning how to make tube amps! Hmmm.. From the land of Oz
Got mine on 48v 5a paired with SMSL su1 dac and Fosi p1tube pre amp(tone controls) feeding some QA 5020s A succinct and at times warm and wide soundstage .... unbelievable they've got an amp like this at this price. Cannot wait for the mono blocks I hear are in the works.
I got the V3 with the 48v adapter too with an SMSL SU-9n and a Topping L50 headphone amp connected to 2 Emotiva B1+ and a Jamo C910 sub. And your right it is an outstanding amp. I wish they would just pair the better power adapter instead of the 32v one with it.
I have the Fosi V3 coupled with a pair of Q Acoustics 1020i and a Wiim Pro streamer in my 10ft square office. I mostly play old man rock (Genesis, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac) and the setup works well with that kind of material. More than happy with the setup. I use it daily when working. No fatigue at all!
A interest question is if we could parallell OR bridge connect both of the Internal chanels amplifier ? When it is only a amp then by parallell or bridge it then we get a lot more power and one chanel speaker output. Then it will probably be a interesting unit for driving a passive subwoofer! But who knows this information?!
As per my AKG K500s and my ears ,,, I hear the midrange and highs more pronounced and a tad harsher with the V3,, but I hear softer warmer highs and mids with the NR1200.. Which one do I prefer ? I’m going with the NR1200,, but having said that, the V3 is definitely worth it for the ridiculously low price 🤷♂️
I look at the Fosi V3 as an poweramp with variable gain 😆 Personally I love the low power consumption/good efficiency... my old poweramp had a idle power consumption of 100W.
Of course I diy the whole system in a wheelchair, no feet one eye 30% heart ,57 years on insulin. Took untried ,high tech short cuts that worked uuh 500 different ones, thinking about a senile 70 year old , audio challenged pro
Have to say, the marantz sounds terrible in comparison. I might pick one of these up for my shop speakers because just from this it sounds way better than my Cyrus 8. I also appreciate the no frills
I like the sound of the Fosi, Its clearer and less coloured. Also the sound separation was wider. It would be good to hear it with a powered sub woofer.
Thank you. Great sound comparison with a receiver. That's the test I was looking for. Everything running flat and at the same matching volume. As I discovered in most Fosi amps, the detail and separation and warmer bass come through on the Fosi. I may have missed it. And if so, I apologize. Was that test with the 48 Volt Power Supply? Thanks in advance.. You gained a subscriber and a like with this video. Just some future advice. You should use the same section of the song on each when doing a sound comparison. A different sections of songs sound quite different. Aside from that it was an excellent video. Thanks again.
The FOSI gives better separation, details and pressure level on the highs, and also on the upper mid. But maybe it could benefit from better power supply.
I found the Marantz a bit too much "midrange forward" I think that would irritate me quickly, hearing that sound signature on my own music too. I'd take the Fosi, & maybe try running my valve pre-amp into it. It's like a power amplifier with a vollume control (& an op-amp input gain stage) But it sounded very good in comparison
Just bought one with the 48v power supply, anxious for it to arrive. I also have the NR1200 and was planning on trying the V3 hooked up to the Marantz's preouts.
Seems to me that the amplifier price points each have a pretty clear first choice up to a pretty high level, with one exception: $65 Fosi V3 $160 Aiyima T9 Pro $250 SMSL AL200 $500 ???? $850 Camridge CXA-61 $1400 Naim Nait 5si $2000 Hegel ______ $3000 Hypex Nilai and matching preamp So what's the category-killer in the $500 range? I had a Dared DV-6C that I loved but it was a really quirky piece, really only good for a person whose DVD player had analog outputs and who didn't want to run any other sources -- which was me at the time. But I never see reviews of amps (ChiFi or otherwise) in that price point.
Just my opinion, but I prefer the V3 over the aiyima t9 pro. You do get a dac and digital connections + Bluetooth on the t9. If you already have a standalone DAC I do believe the amplifier functionality of the V3 is better than the T9 pro's. Just my opinion. P.s. t9 pro is great value for money, I really like the unit, my brother runs one hooked up to his TV.
@@danielh12345 I'd have trouble without a remote but I'd get over it. Also, after posting my comment I realized that the $400-$500 category killer does, in fact, exist, and it's the IotaVx SA3.
@@CinemaDemocratica ah yes, I didn't really factor that in to be honest. My DAC happens to have a remote (which I don't use since my system is desktop based and I just use the controls on the amp). Currently running a wiim pro (again the physical buttons are nice to skip / pause), smsl su-6 and a 48v fosi v3. Previously used aiyima a07 with the standard PSU (32 or 36v?) Fosi 48v is an upgrade for me. T9 I AB'd to test for my brothers system if it was any good. It is, just not as good as my dac + aiyima a07 at the time which the fosi is better than imo
I used to have the 12.1's and was quite impressed with them but they didn't get down low enough for me. So I would imagine the 12.2, with its larger drivers, would sound really good with it.
You said that if I wanted to connect the v3 to a PC I would need a DAC, but actually I can plug the RCA input to the 3.5 mm output of my motherboard (every pc has it) and use the v3 right away.
PC soundcards or especially just a motherboards' 3.5 audio out jacks are just awful in all respects. Yes it works, but he was right to advise you that you need a dac for proper sound without the computer noise just being amplified. 🎉
Saw your link before it was removed 😂 Try a dac if music without noise and ground loops is important, if not then enjoy. My patio system even has it's own Schiit Modi 3 dac that sounds awesome, so yeah I practice what I preach ❤
not an "Energy Saving" component its a soft start component to stop speaker popping. All audio amplifiers have log pots...... I have one of these Fosi V3 as a desktop amp fed from a Cambridge audio 200M DAC which is fed from my Apple silicon Mac mini. the Fosi is not Audiophile by any stretch it just sounds good. My Real Hifi is in a different league. Don't know what you use to record sound but it's not good.
Hi my friend i m Sanjay Sharma from India i want to some suggestions about Fosi audio v3 can i use Q Acoustic 3050i speaker with this amplifier because I have already have speakers 🙂
Get the 48 volt power supply. Mine rocks a pair of Elac Uni-Fi 2.0 towers. Add a Schiit Loki Mini+ with a mix of Led Zeppelin on top! Or Just have some fun, great review!!!
Great review however I am still unsure what 48V 10Amp power supply to purchase in order to fully utilize the capabilities of the amp? Will you please supply the link to the 48Volt 10Amp power supply you recommend?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thank you but the item you have linked to is the 5Amp version. FOSI gives a power rating for a 10Amp power supply but I don’t believe Fosi sells a 10Amp version nor do I know what 3rd party power supply is recommended.
@@ts6640they’re making one but haven’t released it yet (AFAIK). Their 48/5A PSU measured fairly well. I have one in house for a tv setup and I like it.
Fosi are giving these things out like candy, just once in a while someone actual puts one on the bench and REALLY tests it, not just turns it on for a quick listen followed by an opinion of how wonderful it sounds. I won't be GIVEN one because I do test them with test equipment. They often don't like what I find!!
Amir over at Audio Science Review tested it and it measured well. However, I've listened to amps that measured very well but I didn't like how they sounded. Measurements don't account for personal taste.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thats very true, lots of people like valve amplifiers that add colour and many harmonics. Not real HiFi for sure. Nothing should be added in true HiFi. But, if you prefer that added sound, why not.
It's already been tested, there's a video online comparing it against the aiyima a07. Search for something like aiyima a07 vs Fosi V3. I'm assuming that's the testing you mean?
Funny how Fosi are making a big deal about log volume pots. The rest of the world has been using them since to 40s at last Fosi has caught up. Well, it had to happen! It's not a big deal, you should be ashamed it's taken you so long.
Can be connected to high level speaker inputs on powered sub and then high-pass out to your main speakers as well. No rca sub out needed and volume controls sub level with mains. 😊
In regards to performance, both have been measured by ASR (audiosciencereview), V3 measures better. Functionality wise you will have to compare features, V3 has no tone controls but has a pre out connection, for example.
I'm scared about tone controls. My ears are sensitive and I can't keep the treble in flat, usually I put the pot at 10 o clock. So without tone controls will be fatiguing for me
