We lived (and I worked) there from 1984 to 2006 when I retired. Great community and environment, but visiting back in recent years, it seems that the density of housing is ever increasing, and empty spaces are harder to see. Friends still there tells that the traffic going in and out of the city is getting harder and harder, especially at commute time. Great memories!

I miss my hometown.😢. Iived there from 1971 through 1984. Was recently there back in May. Boy has it sure changed. Some of it I still recognize. There's an old saying " You sure can't go home again". I'll say😢

good thing it doesn't use San Mateo's tiny USPS system. thinking of moving here. thanks for the info. although I'd like to see what, if any, steps to prevent liquifaction in upcoming earthquakes. we have some pretty large buildings there now and I'm sure EA sports and Visa planned for it, but have the apartments?

re: your statement of "... liquefaction in upcoming earthquakes." There was a report done by some geologist with the US Geological Survey back in 1969 addressing this problem in Foster City. It asserted that in a major quake, the substrate of the place would turn essentially, to quicksand - there is no solid rock for at least 300 feet below. The top 300 or so feet is just unstable sediments and landfill. Not surprisingly, the report was suppressed by the "powers that be." You can see for yourself what Foster City (Brewer Island) used to look like by Googling "Historic USGS maps," and look at the San Mateo, CA 1899 15' quadrangle. - Tony Arioli

Is there any truth to the urban myth that when Foster City was under construction, a bulldozer sank into the mud with the engine still running, and the ground was paved over and still exists somewhere today under the city?

No, absolutely not, that would jeopardize stability.
