Interviewer- "Let's move on to Pumped Up Kicks. My two-year-old loves this song," (*Mark smiles*) "I'm just really glad she doesn't know what it's about." (*Mark's smile fades and he turns grim.*) "It's the sweetest most evil song I've ever heard."
Aww! 😧 The way Mark quickly and genuinely smiles cuz the guy says his 2 yr old daughter likes the song is Fing adorable! But then when he says that he's glad she doesn't know what it means, his beautiful smile disappears so fast! His reaction really made me sad, I wanted to hold his face in my hands and keep the mean man from saying things like that that hurt him, I don't think he liked that remark very much but didn't have the chance to hide it, lol, cuz it was totally there in his eyes for a few moments...that was a pretty badass-straight-up-hot-AF look in Mark's eyes for a quick moment, that was awesome. It's from like 5:30-5:50, I think, somewhere around there. Mark recovered well, but that did look like it stung a bit and caught him off guard. Ugh 😔 I just love him, he's honestly such a sweetheart. Pontius back there, too, he wipes his hand over part of his face, like to say "Ahhhh, THERE it is." Wonder how sick they all were, maybe still are, of answering the same questions and giving the same explanations of Kicks, I would've been so sick of hearing ppl tell me how crazy and strange it seems for Mark to write such dark lyrics in such a catchy, poppy, and fun-sounding song, I'd have wanted to puke on ppl after being asked to explain where it came from and how I wrote it and that it's fictional, told from the character's POV not my own or anyone else's in specific, such as one of the Colombine shooters, for example, so many times there's no way those ppl didn't already know what I was going to say next and so many years of being made to feel like I needed to defend the song, and then actually needing to when kids started using it as their anthem for the violence they planned to carry out against whoever had wronged them, or already had committed, so now they're considering retiring the song, now, said they won't play it live anymore if they do, Mark wants to, he'd never be good with his art being what gives a hurting, mixed up kid somewhere the courage or idea to do something horrific to others, that goes against who he is, he's right to retire it, he should.
The hotel he was talking about, congress, that he stayed at is a haunted hotel. He mentioned he stayed in room 242 which has the most ghost activity with a reported woman that haunts the room. Which is why mark said he turned out the lights and said "Hey lady." and said nothing happened lol. Thought i'd reply since a lot of people were confused on what he was talking about.
7:39 "I went into the room 242, for like an hour and turned off the lights. I said, hey lady! Show yourself to me!...but nothing happens." LOL! I love you Mark! ♥
this is from last year - if you look at a more recent pic (like from the Mexico/S America tour in March) he's beefed up a lot. All the drum playing, I guess. :)
I was wondering why they are not being asked any questions. My assumption is that they only ask the so called "band leader," who in this and most other cases is the singer the questions.
