I don't know why they didn't put this on Supermodel. It's a wonderful song. And, they put in The Angelic Welcome of Mr. Jones, but not the rest of the song. Idk why.
It's similar to Goats In Trees and The Truth, I bet Mark wrote it but had second thoughts about it, because its about very dark topics in his life. And he decided not to put it on the album cause it was too personal. It makes me cry even more from knowing that..
3:15 OH MY GOD That's where The Angelic Welcome of Mr. Jones comes from. This just blew my mind. Why have I not heard this song before? Now it all makes sense! My life is complete.
Around the time when Super Model was released, in an interview, Mark Foster got asked about The Angelic Welcome of Mr. Jones and he said it was from a song called "The Unforeseeable Fate of Mr Jones which had yet to be released... and now they finally did xD
LYRICS [Verse 1] Well Mr. Jones took a terrible fall He had built the stairs but he hadn't counted them all And the lights and the pain said it would rain He said it would snow He always said that, wherever he would go And he would write down his thoughts on the wall [Pre Chorus 1] Something about the power of it all Call if you care for me at all I've been surrounded by this loneliness And If I could I would do it all over again And I would be calm and wait for you To show me all the things that no one else can do Now what you need, what you got, what you want from me I've got the wild inside to conquer and then I'll be free [Hook 1] If I was free, if I was free I would fly in between the moons of consciousness And ride on the back of a shooting star And float into your arms [Verse 2] And when he woke up, he went outside and changed the light bulb Figured out that life was worth living when you could see The doctor said they'd counseled him before and his tired mind of war Pre Chorus 2] But he was at war with himself and he lost it all He was at home now feeling the power of the crumbling wall [Hook 2] Oh, if I was free I'd fly in between the moons of indolence And I'd ride on the back of a shooting star And float into your arms If I was free I'd let go of all the weight that's dragging me And never again and never again I put it all down and never again and never again [Bridge] Ahhh Never again Ahhh [Verse 3] And he met God that day And God said, "Well, welcome in I've been waiting for you Your bed is warm Your sheets are made" [Hook 3] Free, and I was free I didn't even know that I'd been captured But I remember the call, I remember the call I remember when your voice came through the wall And I was there and I was scared I didn't even know that you were listening And all those times I was shaking my head From all the things I'd said [Outro] Ahhh
It's really great to see how they started as a total indie/alternative band, and even after landing a radio hit (Pumped Up Kicks), they have not sold out and continue to make beautiful, humble music like this. Foster The People forever.
WHITEPERSUAS1ON they’re still my favorite! :) I’ve been able to see them perform live twice and be able to meet them as well. They have a special place in my heart since I’ve basically grown up with them for half my life. I will always be thankful for how they shaped the way I enjoy listening to music. Funny enough Ive been listening to this song a lot this past week :,))
I don't listen to foster the people often but I always seem to go back to this music during hard times. When I went through bullying. When my health went bad in the military and I had to reroute my life goals. When I suffered bad domestic violence. When there was reconciliation. When I was thinking of leaving. There is something about their music that makes you not feel alone.
For me this is exactly why they are so good. They don't make a song after song with bad quality. They master them to every little sound. And we appreciate their art because we get a new album very rarely :)
That's actually a good thing. Bands that tour and produce constantly burn out and start to suck. Everyone needs a break. It's why this band is still good.
+Gabriel Cruz made me think of my uncle he had diabetes and was about to die soon. and the lyrics "but he was at war with himself and he lost it all,he was at home now feeling the power of the crumbling wall" these lyrics made me think about him so much. idk why maybe because he was at war with himself...💔
This has been my favorite song and I kept it a secret because it’s just so special. I shared it with an ex and now it’s all I think about. That rainy afternoon, in a muddy park. Looking into great clouds passing by. Looking at his face, wondering if it was watery eyes or the rain. I think it was both.
Daniel Clark Just read some articles/interviews from the band. Mark Pontius says it's about halfway done. Mark Foster said that they have about 70 song ideas for the new album, apposed to 14-18 for Supermodel and Torches. I'm predicting a couple singles are going to be released some time around March 2017.
Bianca Rich Here you go! www.channel24.co.za/Rocking-the-Daisies/mark-from-foster-the-people-tells-us-all-about-coming-to-sa-20160823 Enjoy the anticipation. ;)
They started playing some of their old singles on the radio here in Austin, Texas, lately. I wonder if that is sign of things to come. It feels like it's been forever. I wish they could release a new song every month or something lol
I'm dying to have more Foster the People in my mind. I'm so sad they're not in full-swing anymore. Supermodel and Torches is all I need for some days when it comes to what I'm listening to, but it makes me sad to see little evidence of a possible tour or anything in the future.
Don't be sad. They are currently working for their third album plus you can download their collaboration with band Nanakato! The "Hide and Seek" track where Mark was the one who played guitar and a bonus Foster the People's Hide and Seek remix track.
Jeremy Iris Pineda I saw that one track but I thought that was all they were going to do... and it's all Japanese or... some language, forgive my ignorance. I'm not a fan of music I can't understand BUT, if they're working on something then that's amazing to know. How did you find out? I've looked around and I can't find any recent news about them. :S
Mark announced that they've been working on a new album. I think he tweeted that he couldn't wait to come back "next year" (this was in 2015) with new music. Though, with the looks of it, I think we won't see any new material until early-mid 2017. He also mentioned working with One Republic on a song that is supposedly "Houdini's little brother". Cant wait!!!
This song has that kind of calmness I can't describe. You just gotta feel it from inside. Seems like i know it forever. Thank you ftp for this. "If i was free, I didn't even know that I have been captured"
3:16 en esta parte me da una sensación en mi pecho, amo tanto las canciones de Foster The people, cada una me transmite un sentimiento, me inspira, me relaja✨
I love this band so much , I can't wait for their new album this year , hopefully.... their music is just so good , really makes you get so contemplative 💯
I personally would prefer Time to Get Closer to get a full song. The synth start of Orange Dream always shocks me whenever I put their songs on shuffle, so I removed it.
I mean, in a perfect world we go both :P I just feel Time to Get Closer is more "complete" in its current state, while Orange Dream leaves you wanting more. You can even hear the riff start over in Orange Dream, as it fades out
Foster The People.
listened to this song for the first time today, for some reason i never found out about it. needless to say, instantly fell in love. wow. you’ve done it again to me mark foster.
Do you have the archives Foster & Co uploaded to uTorrent? The link doesnt work anymore and i don't have the old archives that had the song in Hi Res Lossless .wav
i think is kinda on purpose bc how they both talk about illness but in such different point of views, I also think thats one of the reasons this song wasn't included in the album
It's almost been 3 years since this came out, yet it feels like yesterday. I can vividly remember what I was doing when I listened to this for the first time.
Thank god it finally came out, I have been waiting on this song for some time. I have listened to all of their songs, my favorite's on Torches is "Helena Beat, Pumped up Kicks, Call it what you want, Life on the nickel, and I would do anything for you" I actually own the Torches cd. My favorites on Supermodel is " A beginners guide to destroying the moon, Psuedolgia Fantastica, Nevermind, Best Friend, Are you what you want to be?, Coming of Age" and now this song, I love Mark Foster and Mark Pontius, so sad that Cubbie left, but I know they will pull through their music career without him.
This Isn't on Supermodel but my favorites on Torches are: Miss You, Helena Beat, Houdini (which actually has a reference in this song), and life on the nickel Supermodel: Psudolodgia Fantastica, A beginners guide, Are you what you want to be, Coming of age, and goats in trees
+IJMiller _ IJMiller _ Houdini: "What you want what you need-" Mr. Jones: "What need what you got-" It also is delivered in the same(ish) way. I'm not too sure what the significance + tie is between the two, but it definitely was on purpose. If you look at what Houdini is about, which is a band/ person (Mr. Jones?) who is famous controlled by his/her label tired and scared of being in the media. And that line stated above could have been the label/press/interviewer trying to give the famous person whatever they wanted or trying to pry stuff out of them. This could be about Mr. Jones who died because of that, it started the war in his head. Not confirmed ^ just speculating (:
+Hannah Gillespie Ah I see, I actually remember thinking that line was similar to Houdini as well, but that's a cool theory anyway, maybe it's correct? (:
