I went Metal Detecting at several places today. The first site was a small patch of woods where an old farm house use to be in the late 1800s. In the woods along a rusty barbed wire fence , I managed to find a padlock under a large quartz rock with the Garrett AT Pro. The 2nd site was an 1820s Plantation house and man it sure was a trashy spot, I did pull out a neat Toy Gun and a Sterling silver ring but that was it. I always save the good places for last!. Site # 3 was the jackpot! I was hiking through the woods and I stumbled across the largest bottle dump ever!. There are literally Bottles everywhere! You can't walk with out stepping on a bottle. I got distracted from Metal Detecting and ended up digging in the bottles. You won't believe what I found, I dug up marbles, coins, Sodas, Household items , a Medical Corps collar disk and Even a Blue Bird!. The Collar disk is probably from World War Two. I hope yall enjoy the video! Thanks for Watching! God Bless!

About Nugget Noggin:
Hey! I'm Michael, I love to get outdoors and discover awesome things
with my metal detector. I started treasure hunting when I was 12 years
old and shortly after received my first metal detector. Since then, I've
been hooked and just love going out to search for the unknown. You
may see me in the woods crawling under an old house or diving down
in the river to search for rings. Wherever the adventure brings us, I'll try
my best to keep you entertained.

I think half of the fun of Nugget's videos is his imaginative explanation for things. Like walking in the woods and seeing some quartz rocks = gold mines everywhere! I wish I had half of his enthusiasm!

The white bottle at the beginning of the bottle dump looks like an Old Spice bottle. My dad wore it in the 60's and early 70's. That particular bottle may be older but the bottle shape was about the same as the Old Spice he wore. It had a silver colored metal collar around the opening and was stoppered with a gray plastic stemmed button type stopper. I love your videos. I like them better than all the ones where they find things worth a lot of money. It seems like that that's why they are metal detecting and some just don't seem "real". Your enthusiasm and excitement for metal detecting and history and not just the monetary value of the things you find sets your videos apart from all the others. Also your respect for other people and their belongings is a quality that is hard to find nowadays.

Need to go back to that bottle dump and dig down a few feet in some places. I'm sure you'll hit some 1800's bottles somewhere... That medical pin was really cool, I'd love to find something like that !! That jewel oil was a keeper and was that a jade plate ? Keep @ It and HH !!

That lock under a rock was a landmark. You either needed to dig deeper there, or use a compass and metal detect in the four major directions north, south, east or west, up to about 20 paces, and you will likely find what was buried.

Old dumps are easy to find. I know where at least 30 of them are. Most date from the 20s to 50s but a few are from the 1870s to turn of the century, which are the best and my favorite. 1 is producing blob tops and lots of cool embossed bottles. Its fun getting down and dirty in the dumps. Keep looking as they are out there. I keep discovering more all the time.

Wow! I'd go back with a bit of flagging tape, tag four trees to mark a big square, and do a quick grid search with a small rake. Would help you pinpoint the older sections to dig deeper into. You might consider carrying a keychain UV light, some types of glass (usually green or pink) actually used uranium ore as a pigment and they'll glow. UV can also sometimes help you make out faded inks/patterns on ceramics as well as textiles.

That reminds me of the woods next to Waverly Hills Sanatorium. I watched a documentary about the place and when they closed the hospital, all of the bottles, personal items left behind by the patients, etc.were dumped in the woods. There were bottles everywhere. And, I bet that those bottles came from a similar place. I'd love to know the history of the area you were in. There had to be a large medical facility nearby those bottles.

I live in Pennsylvania and visited the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon near Wellsboro, PA. While in the area, I drove to Corning, New York and visited the Corning Glass Works. I was amazed to see some beautiful historical artifacts made of glass. There was a display of cobalt blue glass which was behind some very thick glass plate. Evidently, at one period of history; the cobalt blue color glass was created utilizing material which was radioactive. A Geiger counter was in the display of cobalt blue glass which registered the radioactive output of the glass. Consequently, some Cobalt blue glass was crafted with radioactive ore and is dangerous to people.

I noticed what appeared to be an abundance of "milk glass" without threads for a screw-on lid, not to mention all of the bottles that appeared to have 'cork' closures. I know I would love to come across something like that! It would take me a number of trips to extract all I would like to appraise, but, I truly believe it would be highly profitable!
