Well, you most certainly have birds. As I’ve been watching and listening, I’ve heard crows, Cardinals, Nuthatches, and a Northern Flicker (woodpecker). Very cool. And some very cool finds too.
I see a cardinal every now and then. In the morning, it sounds like a bird sanctuary outside with all of their singing. I might record it one day for a video, if only to help identify what birds are in my yard!
Corrected myself that character is Buster Brown! and the Ring Rattle with "water"??? haha Long ago when my children were babies, they had those rattles and yes, even then had the fluid with sparkles or thingys floating in it. The jacks and bag are the best. We use to put our jacks and ball in our tiny little purses so we could play at recess. That was in the fifties! Great memorabilia. The Betty Rubble character, I think, is from the sixties and had Mr. Bubble bubble bath in it. I could not see it that well, but think that may be it.
Nope definitely not Buster Brown. Wrong type of hat. I worked for a Buster Brown store for almost 20 years and have items around her with him and Tige, now the little brown plastic dog sure resembled tige!
It looks like you found a toy box from the 60’s! I was born in ‘61, so am a true child of the 60’s-70’s and many of the items in that toy chest were things that I remember from my childhood! Great find! I am a re-seller and also a collector of vintage 50’s -60’s dolls and toys. The old doll you found looks like a Vogue Baby Dear doll - very popular in the 60s and came in several sizes. I have recently been thinning out my collection, trying to pick my absolute favorites and limit to one cabinet. Everything else I am listing on eBay, since we have been stuck inside. I am right now watching you while I sort through vintage doll clothes I had stored in a closet. I had been putting this task off since I love my old toys. But now is the time to tackle those chores we have been putting off for lack of time. And sending things on to homes who will treasure them. Thanks for keeping me company while we both ‘play’ with our old toys!
There was a jewelry maker like the creepy crawlies. It made brooches, my poor Mom wore those crazy things to the store. Our beautiful jewelry we made for her LOL
Most TOYS from 50-60's. Had wallets like the 1st one. LOVE Weekly Readers. I used to get so excited i'd cry running back from the mailbox after it was delivered! And the dancing horse is awesome. Back in the day, there were all kinds of push-up toys, we called em.
Renee, I had completely forgotten abut "The "Weekly Readers". They were so much fun when I was little. Better to lose your jacks than your marbles:) Thanks for the toy box. I had one painted in blue foryears and years. Cheers, Rik Spector
Love the little kids book ! The pages would look so cute matted and framed for a new babies room ! I just love the graphics ! Love looking threw the toy box with you !
60s Weekly Readers. Wow, that took me back. I couldn't wait to get it in school each week. The pencil from the market looked like the pencil that butchers would use to mark the white paper wrappers on the meat you would order.
Cooties. The round.body and head looks like one of the bugs from the cooties game. There would be holes to attach the legs. Whoever completed their cootie first won.
Hi Renee, being 60 I remember a lot of the items. I have my brothers cap gun, I would love to find a box of caps for my display. I think your noise maker is from Oktoberfest. Hand wash the vintage doll clothes, lots of people look for the real thing. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. Keep well ❤.
I could not wait to see this video. Love the old basket and picture book. Great colors and drawings. I think she is a thumbalena doll. I had her. Oh I like your hair short. It's so cute on you. Love the old paper dolls. You got some really great items and older. They look like creepy crawlers. I played Jack's all the time. What a fun video to watch.
I had those ballerinas on my birthday cake when I was 5yrs old. ('60's) I think I saved them. Now I have to go find them. That green lid kinda reminds me of a spray soap foam you used for bathtime fun(Also in said '60's). There was a hole in back so you can push down like a spray can and different color soap foam would squirt out. Gosh I haven't thought about that in decades! Fun trip down memory lane.😏
Hello Renee. I've been waiting to see what was in the box . Really it was like opening a time capsule. So much fun . I hope to hear more about the money and how it was used that would be cool. You enjoy you evening and Thanks for the look see into the past . Stay well.📷📷📷💯💯💯🍄🌸🍄🌸💓💓💓
Memory Lane! Straight from late 50s and early 60s I had that book, and the Creepy Crawlers (the Creeple Peeple one too!) That pink plastic fan! 14:42 was part of a set you could make creatures, different legs, arms, antennae, weird toy. The green cap I think was from Crazy Foam and if the whale tail has a screw thing like a bottle top, it might have gone to a bubble bath container. I agree that the white guy is the Cracker Jack kid or Buster Brown. And I loved my Weekly Readers too! Thanks for sharing!! I needed that today.
The "Diamond Ring" rattle came with water in it like a snow globe. The clump of stuff stuck to the inside top was glitter, so when you shook it, the diamond would sparkle. Fun stuff! Leesa
You can remove odor from old books by wrapping them in parer towels, or put them in a pillow case, then bury them in clean cat litter for a couple days.
Some great finds, they reminded me of some of the contents from my toy cupboard at grandma's house (the cupboard is in mom's garage. I was born in 61 and remember paper dolls that you could dress. The little dog with the beaded legs that you pushed underneath, I remember having one snd playing with it for hours. Crayola crayons, love them, they don't change much. I remember having rolls of caps, I would sit on the kerb with my mates snd would bash them with a stone to make them pop. Alas, they are banned over here in the UK now.
Just a quick note to let you know how much I love your videos. Along with Taco and Vid Vulture, you guys are all my favorites. Such super nice people with a good way about you. Take care out there!
I got so excited when you pulled that baby doll out. I am 65 and I have that exact doll from when I was about 8 years old, Mine is in great shape and has it's original pink pjs. My sister had one in blue but it is long gone.
Take the roll of caps, unravel and place on concrete porch or side walk. Get a heavy, palm-sized rock, slam on powder cap circle, and POW!POW!POW! some fun.👍
oh my gosh, can't wait to watch this one when I get home... I want to also compliment you on your exceptional lighting and camera work when you do your porch hauls... truly looks professional... even your fade in and fade out to your opening and closing scenes.. really well done.
Oh yes creepy crawlers so cool. Those ballerinas were cake toppers. I had them on my cake when I was little. Love that fan! The Jacks bag was the best. I have never seen one before! All the paper stuff was really nice!!
I think the boy on the spring is Buster Brown. They gave little toys with their shoes. I really like the Ballerinas. They were probably from a cake. My brother had the Creepy Crawler machine and we burned our fingers on that thing LOL! Fun finds!😊 Stay safe!❤
Several years ago I was cleaning out a closet and found a doll-sized clothes closet from my childhood, full of little bits that kids love to save. There were jacks & cracker jacks prizes & bottle caps & parts of old toys. Not worth saving but hard to throw out. This vid brought back memories.
That hair curler I remember. In my teen years my grandmother had a nursing home and one of the "old" ladies asked me to wash and set her hair. I washed her hair in a dishpan if you can imagine and those were the curlers she had. I had to drip each in "Jocur", setting gel. It was like slime. Lol. Made it very hard to do her hair but we made it through and it turned our so pretty . She was very happy. I remember she wire the reddest lipstick I had ever seen. Such a memory that was. Thank yoh!!
We used Dippity Do! My hair is straight as a board and absolutely nothing would make it keep a curl. I was a victim of many Toni Perms! I can still smell those!
That doll is Thumbelina. My first doll was Thumbelina. Still have my Thumbelina. She is 55 years old. She has always been my favorite doll. Thank you for rescuing "creepy dolls". I don't think dolls are creepy at all. I never have thought they were creepy.
You always seem to find such good stuff in the trash. The furniture.....I like refinishing furniture but its a rare day when I see such good items in the trash.
Oh my gosh..was it the one with the metal molds that you'd put in a heating machine and they'd get rubberey?? I can still smell it...wish I had one again.
That was such a great find. I love the Jacks, a real blast from the past. The box is cool too as it's got a great colour and nice chippy paint. Hope you manage to save it. You've got some cute little decor pieces there. Thanks for sharing x
I am growing out my hair too. I love how the longer hair softens you’re features, hopefully it is doing the same for mine. I loved getting the Weekly Reader. Those wallets have hidden pockets. I should know I have a red one, that I carried all through high school in the 1960s. Mom used to set my hair in those hair curlers. I still have them. I think that ring was a teething ring and the water is meant to be in there. Moms would freeze them and give them to baby to help soothe the gums. I am surprised the water is still in there.
"I somehow have a collection of small brooms" lol. It's funny how collections will find us like that, isn't it? Thanks for another fun video. I look forward to these.
I thought that today would never come so I could see in the box! I always though that the best part was digging through the mystery boxes ... PLUS this one was FREE!! Thanks for Sharing!
You could have a box in your flea market booth for people to sift through these things. We love to watch you pick through boxes at the flea for small objects. thanks
I LOVED my Creepy Crawlers bug maker! The smell of that goo heating up was so distinctive and plastic -y , who knows what we were inhaling lol. I love that Jacks bag with all it's little treasures stashed inside. Great video as always Renee! Thank you for sharing!
Love this discovery box full of toys video. I sometimes buy these boxes on the Marketplace just to discover goodies in them. Thank you for sharing. Take good care of yourself and your family. Best regards from Finland, Pascal
You can still make Creepy Crawlers. The newer style machine has a wimpy bulb though, lol. It does work, but takes much longer. Seriously kids need to be kids..... teach them how to be careful. I still have the original machine that was my brothers and a ton of molds. He never would share it when we were kids, so now I can make them whenever I want, lol.
15:00 I think that is a lid from "Crazy Foam" It was bath shaving cream-like foam bath soap. I had one that the head was a monkey. In fact I still have mine. Don't know why, but I do.
Nice find, you made a good decision to have taken that trunk. Taco, did take that old dresser you had no room for, in yesterdays video. Glade that it wasn't left behind. Again, smart to wear your gloves when going thru stuff.
1966, I was in kindergarten. I would have gotten those weekly Readers...I loved them..my brother had the creepy crawlers and I had one that made flowers. Stay safe and thanks for the vid’s
Your hair is very pretty today. I guess we are all going to have to trim at home or let our hair grow. I like all the books in this haul. The noisemaker is great.
