FOUND A TRENCH WITH GERMAN WWII SOLDIERS / WW2 METAL DETECTING 

At the end of the day the overwhelming majority of the young boys that died were fighting a fight because the leaders of their respective countries told them to. They came from all walks of life and wanted the war to end and go home. Many of these boys never had a chance to love a woman, have children and experience life like many of us have had the fortune to do. Respect every one of them because individually it was not their fault and they gave their lives over it...

Unfortunately, battlefield robbers run rampant in Russia. They’re not there for any honorable work. Their only objective is to retrieve as many artifacts as possible to sell for pure profit. Those dead soldiers aren’t going home.

They’re actually just all about the money. Battlefield robbers are rampant in Russia. It’s doubtful those dead soldiers will make it home. These guys are just after the money. They dig up the artifacts and sell them for pure profit.

This is clearly not at that level. These people are just relic / treasure hunters chasing a financial return. As soon as the found human remains they should have called the German Government War Graves and informed them.

It looks like they have some "dog tags", as the American GI's called their identification plaques. Is any effort made to repatriate the remains, or at least contact the appropriate authority in Germany and forward the ID tags for possible identification ?

There is a problem with German WW2 ID disc's (as many of you may know). It is that they rely on records in the rear areas to identify the wearer. In many cases these records were destroyed, lost or mixed up during the war. As a result many German soldiers would actually scratch their names (and occasionally address) on to the tags. Another problem was that the cord attached to the tags would deteriorate over time and the tags could fall off. Many times when remains are dug up it is often impossible to determine which tag belongs to which set of remains. Especially when body's are found together. This may not seem like a truly terrible problem to overcome (DNA) however, I watched one video where there was a list of of soldiers temporarily buried at a site, near a field hospital, with their names. They ended up being temporarily buried for about 70 years. When dug up there were more remains than expected (some must have been buried at the site after the list had been made), and there were also both mixed and missing tags. And some soldiers still had both halves of their tags but they were so rusted they could not be read.

I saw the number of German soldiers still missing from the war, and that number is astounding. No doubt most of them died in the east, and most of them will remain forever undiscovered.

Actually, these kind of guys are rampant in Russia. They do it all for the money. Doubtful those dead soldiers will ever make it home. They’re just after the artifacts to sell for pure profit. There are no good intentions with these guys.

@@Mikael5732 Yeah I know they are archeologists doing serious research. The things they find aren't being re-sold to collectors and the Russian, Polish etc etc governments aren't trying prevent this. The only reason they are doing this IN SECRET is because they want to protect the historical sites from actual grave robbers, right? FACEPALM

@@Montblanc1986 Not true. For instance my mother and her sister are both alive and the daughters of a WW II US Army Air Force serviceman, and he was older than typical GI’s of the period. There are plenty of children and grandchildren & great grandchildren of WW 2 vets.

@@Montblanc1986 I am here also. My father was a WW2 vet in the Pacific. What is more my son's knew and loved their grandfather. War echos on for many generations.

@@Montblanc1986 even if that is the case, there is a massive chance that there are relatives of some sort that would be relieved to see these guys bought home, and at the end of the day it's important to show respect for and give any fallen soldier of any nationality the burial they deserve.

Ojalá me equivoque, pero esto tiene pinta de montaje. Es extraño encontrar todo ese muestrario de objetos juntos en un solo punto y la mayoría lucen sobrepuestos más que excavados.

I do not want to be insensitive but I cannot put aside the thoughts that these very German soldiers had murdered, brutally, Soviet fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters and little children. They reaped the carnage they had sowed in Russia. And all that is left, are dead remains. All are in judgement now, whether good or bad I cannot say.

@@Mikael5732 Most of these were just young conscripts, who had not really a choice. To call all German soldiers Nazis ist just an awful insult on their dead bodies. What would you do, if someone knocks on your door and orders you under the pain of death to fight in a war?

They are usually repatriated through the German Embassy. Then later interred in a German Military Cemetery. ID'd if possible, and families notified, if any survived the war.

Sometimes the living relatives or descendants are embarrassed by the history of their forefathers and don’t want anything to do with their remains. Very sad.
