Yes sir!👍👍I started driving a 8n@ 6 when I was 8 we acquired a 7000 and yes like yourself it brings back some pretty good memories. That tractor was awesome.👍👍👊
Nice to see these classic john deere tractors being restored hoping farming simulator 22 will release it no computers just hp torque diesel pto hydraulic
Just found your channel. Im a die hard international guy, but i love the fact that you found grandad's old tractor!!! Hope you can bring her back to life!!!👍 Great video, and i subbed ya. Im also in Michigan, just south of Travers city .
A John deere 8640 is going to be really nice to have around!! Even better to have a tractor that was once in the family back!! My grandpa has has 2 8630s and a 8440 and a 8430! Impressive pretty sure he bought them all new too and hes been using them even since!!! Keep us posted one your's!
You might already know this but after it has sat awhile, before starting I recommend checking the oil. Also loosen the engine oil drain plug carefully until something comes out.. if all you get it is good. If the first thing to come out is coolant, not so good. Drain that off until you get oil and take note of how much you get. If just a few drops or a tiny amount, Run it, but check oil often and check drain plug again the next day before start-up... 8640's are notorious for having head or head gasket problems. Also there are liners that can let coolant in the oil. Also, at least where I am, the 619 engines are obsolete and hard to find.
But, if you get a large amount of coolant out the oil drain and your oil level is way overfill, don't run it until you find the issue, as antifreeze is bad for engine.
@@MichiganMarineFarmerthat starter sounds like a cow making that noise sounds funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why is someone not using this valuable asset on their farm. At 275 hp this would fit right in with the modern tractors except for technology - but that too can be added.
@MichiganMarineFarmer they're really easy starting engines🤷♂️ as long as they have fuel they start, unless it's below 32 degrees they'll crank a little longer, but still Fire up fine.
Sorry you're getting so many snarky comments. Truth is, the bendix on the starter wasn't engaging the flywheel. Pull the starter, free up/lube the bendix and you should be good to go, if you haven't already done that.
I have 2 8640's and 8650. Personally, except for when the hood needs lifted, Imo the 8640's are easier to do daily oil and coolant checks and crop ups. Because on 8650 you have to lift the hood every time to check or add coolant or to add oil. The 8640's you only need to lift hood to fix a problem under there.
Kool find i love these old jd. But Yall better get somebody who know what they're doing. Cause yall gon, burn something up, or ruin a good engine if fuel is primed up properly no starter fluid is needed but it Is your video keep them coming
My Grandpa's auction was in 2014, Sept or so i think. Wish i could find his Farmall B "Culti-vision" And the Old Skid steer. Love that Old Ford sitting next too the 8640. They selling that?
I love that tractor. Glad you guys got it back. Did your grandpa buy it new?👍💯 No technician needed if you have problems. Unlike the ones we use. Breaking down sucks with these internationals. But they sure are comfortable though.
I have an 8650. Deere has stopped making the 619 engine for these and I can't get one. Even a used block that isn't cracked is almost nn existent.... I am current waiting for a bock to be tested. It's too bad, cause these can put out when they are running good.
Is that Marine as in the U.S Marine Corps? I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps. So, Semper Fi. It's always good to see something good done. Congrats on getting it running
@@MichiganMarineFarmerpretty good but it started leaking hydraulic fluid and so now it has to be worked on but it got us through the rest of the field work and now we have more time to work on it
Your solenoid does 2 things at once turn the engine over and engage the starter drive Pull the starter take to a shop and see if yo need a selonide or starter or both. Good luck
@@MichiganMarineFarmer I’m a history buff myself but John Deere has basically went woke and sold out to cheap ass parts and I won’t and don’t agree with it if you want a tractor built in USA every bolt buy kubota
Wow, that's nice!! Most farmers I know would walk over a mile of broken glass for a tractor like that, parked and left untouched, I just don't get it!! That's alot of money sitting outside wasting away
