Keep the muzzle away from anyone. Clear the gun. Remove the magazine and pull the slide. It will clear any chambered round. Visibly check and feel it then its safe. same for the shotgun.

First rule of handling a firearm. ALWAYS!!! treat the firearm like it's ready to fire and you will not become one of those tragic accidents that didn't have to happen. If it's closed up it can fire. There's no such thing as an assembled safe weapon. There are too many dead people that got that way by mishandling a "safe" firearm or caused the accidental death of a loved one because they did not respect the tool they had in their hands. A preventable accidental death is not something you want to carry with you for the rest of your life. DO NOT put your finger on the trigger if you are not intending to fire the weapon and don't EVER point a weapon at anything you don't want a hole in... You... Your sweetheart... Pointed at the ground is the safest direction for the business end of a firearm. If your .30 caliber hunting rifle is accidentally discharged into the air... that 185grain .30" diameter chunk of lead and copper will come back to the earth at roughly 300ft/sec. That's plenty fast enough to do damage and possibly kill someone if they are unlucky enough to be the first object that projectile hits.

Hi Jeremy, at 29:35 you have a postage scale. The little clip is to hold an envelope and the balanced pointer will show you the weight in ounces. The Rossi guns are really great.

Even if you "Know" it's safe. If it's been out of your possession, it's loaded. Even if you just put it down for a minute, if there's someone else there that could have loaded it, it's loaded. Until you check it. Again. Yes, you will waste time doing it again, but you won't be the cause of an accident.

Before I ever even owned a gun I knew better than to pick one up without immediately clearing it before handling, and not flagging people with it. And anyone who's been around guns long enough to be an instructor knows the difference between a clip and a magazine, and wouldn't get so excited over a cheapass hi point they blow their load and "forget" to clear it and the way he reads off "Hi Point firearms model 995" like he's never seen or heard of a Hi Point, some of the most unmistakably/distinctly ugly guns around. At least he kept his booger hook off the bang lever, but that's about the only basic firearm rule he didn't break, this video was an ND waiting to happen.

From an old firearms instructor. Please, if you don't know how to safely clear and check a firearm. Or even know the difference between a rife and gun. Or a clip and a magazine. Just leave them alone, so no one gets hurt or worse.

I must also tell you they have a lifetime warranty and are made in the USA Do not attempt to take it apart yourself for any reason as most people aren't trained well enough to do so. You made out on the guns I'm happy for you, theres over 1000$ worth there, the mkshighpoint995 I'd 450$ of it. The clock looks like a first year(1986 box) may be valuable if not shot. They always came with extra mag and a cleaning kit aswell. As for the Rossi, looked like a 20guage shell you showed... The receiver alone was worth your cost of the container. Good job.

Just wanted to let you know that the scale you found is a carburetor scale yes some people use them to weigh weed but the name for it is a carburetor scale and you can buy them at any Auto Parts store

The sad part is this was somebody’s prized collection. For whatever reason, the owner(s) couldn’t pay the storage fees, and lost all this property, what appears to be a lifetime of somebodies life. A shame that this happened. I wonder if someday, the owners happen upon this video, what their reaction will be.

@@WhatTheHales That is a lot of younger person's type/designs of purses, so it wasn't some older lady who died. Making it very tragic for life cut short. The "compass " at 29:46 you found is actually a scale, used to weigh drugs most often. The bag clips into the alligator clip, you lift by the center ring and the complex physics of leverage uses a weight ratio to move from fulcrum the numbered part and the metal arrow piece points straight down(due to gravity) on the clipped item's weigh numbers. But it is for "weighing mail" just see any packaging...... If this person truly did pass , she was young most likely in her her 20's possible thirties at the latest. What you have is some her stuff and things she was holding of those near and dear to her , and what was likely a storage locker no heirs wanted to pay for not knowing what was in there. By the way how can you be a CCW and have never heard of Rossi? It is not a high end but a common name. Most likely one you would have quickly skipped for for a concealed carry piece due to quality It sounds like you two are the honorable type from the "personal identification" about returning it, but you are literally fulfilling the lines from Miss Havisham from the book "Great Expectations" about when people come to "feast upon her" . ....

If ya ever need a guy to appraise your guns you find or give ya info on the models feel free to get at me . I gun Smith and do sells at gun show on older and newer guns . Be more then happy to give ya the book value and what ya could get and ask for those rossi few years ago price was up here in NC at local gun shows brand new tax out the door price is around 150 to 160 ish depending on the combo if its 410 and 22 ya can typically find them new 130 the 20 gauge with 223 looking at 150 ish new 12 gauge combo with 270 ya looking 160 ish typically. Also very knowledgeable about knives as well . As well as reloading supplies.
