Now THAT'S a barn find! Minus the ridiculous knobs and steering wheel...and other "custom" touches. 🙄🤨😑😄 thankfully the original steering wheel and engine parts were in the trunk! Amazing car! I live on the east coast, we don't see cars this nice after sitting so long. That thing is pristine!

Great memories! We used to rip around town in these old muscle cars in the early eighties. A guy could easily afford one as young as 17 or 18 years old. I remember having no problem drilling the dash and doors of my '66 Comet to install the latest Pioneer stereo system that we thought sounded better than mankind could ever improve on!

_"A guy could easily afford one as young as 17 or 18 years old."_ I remember those days. Yours truly and virtually all my buddies had a late-1960s/early-1970s supercar because they were AFFORDABLE--really affordable. GTOs, Road Runners, Chargers, SS Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, etc.

670 are the hi performance heads on the front passenger side of block next to timing cover their is stamped into it the suffix code and vin # to decode the engine. There's also the casting number to the left of distributor on the engine block.

BF is a Fremont, California-built car. Smog pump equipped California emisions (pump is in the trunk) standard engine was 335 HP 400 w/360 HP optional. Rally gauges package, likely 4-speed. Factory 8-track!!! Oh, and the round head key is for glove box, console and trunk. Hex head is ignition and doors only.

I would say the car had 106,000 miles on it, and the lake pipes are hooked to cutouts that can be opened to allow the exhaust to flow through them un muffled and then closed again for the exhaust to flow through the original exhaust for a quieter sound.

In the 70s these were just used gas guzzlers. The period-authentic mods make sense and are kinda charming in a way. No one thought they were defiling a sacred artifact by modding some old Pontiac back then.

Frenched Antenna’s , Lake pipes, shaved door handles. We call that a mild custom !! All those things started in the 50’s. Kind of rare on a late sixties ride, but some habits die hard. 😎

Great car, the small custom add ons were not to bad, shaved emblems, door handles, and the sunk antenna were common in the 50s & 60s. The emblem at bottom of front fender is original where its at. The other GTO emblems belong at the back of rear quarter. The small steering wheel is so you can drive with handcuffs on lol !

Back in 1968 I had the '66 GTO in the same tourquise color. Same interior. Full gauge cluster, same console and a factory wood grain steering wheel. Under the hood was a 389 with factory chrome valve covers and air cleaner. In 67 they went to the 400. Loved that car. It is a shame what was done to this car but it is a survivor and should be restored to its majestic glory.

That's a GREAT find. I'd like to know the story behind it. I mean, the odometer doesn't lie but it doesn't seem to match the story that the mechanical evidence under the hood and in the trunk tells. Either the odometer quit working at 06036 or it has rolled over and it's actually 106,036.0 miles on it. In 1967 the odometers only cane with 5 digits so when it gets to 99,999.0 after the next mile it roles over and begins again and eventually gets back to 06,036.0 where we see it know. When I got my 1978 Corvette in 2006 the odometer was at 041,332.0 and I knew just by inspecting the car inside, underneath and under the hood that the odometer couldn't be right. But it was ok because I bought the car to resto-mod it and drive it all over the country. Either way though, that 67 GTO is a GREAT find, thank you for sharing it with us.

Very cool find.. Thanks for sharing. Is made cooler by the fact the original steering wheel is at least in trunk. These cars were popular in late 80s into 90s with younger guys that could get them for 4-6k then pimp them out like you see here. This has got a LA gangster look to it.. the steering is way small so a dude could drive with cuffs on his wrists, ( make believe though) the nobs are pure bling type fashion.. pipes are called 'Lake' pipes. Antennas for radio are frenched style. Performance heads, wonder what the deal was with engine- was the carb acting up or was an upgrade in progress? These had nylon timing gears that were known to loose teeth after 70k so maybe there's actually a timing issue... 🤷‍♂️ I Would be curios what the deal is there. Anyway, it's a cool time capsule.

I’m sure you guys know Driver side of the engine towards the back underneath the exhaust manifold usually it’s stamped into the block what the engine is (400 )! that should be raised stamped on the block ! That was one good thing Pontiac did to the engines Wow you are Lucky till this day i kick myself for not buying 67 GTO from a guy down the road in 1983 it would’ve been my first car but I stayed clear because people told me the reason why he sold it because it was eating front tires On one side because it been hard at one time but I did end up buying a nice 67 Pontiac Lemans sport I loved it but I had to sell it

The Craig 8 track deck is pretty cool! Back in 76 or 77 I bought a Craig 8 track deck like that with 2 speakers for the rear deck of my 67 RS Camaro for the princely sum of $39 plus tax! However I only made $1 an hour back then washing dishes in a restaurant! So even though it seems cheap now not so much back then. If I was you I would make Ben an offer on this car. It is worth the effort and sitting outside with the window open & just a car cover isn't doing it any good either. If I was you I would make that Guy a deal! Oh by the way it is most likely 106,000 miles!

Okay one more comment the tree spokes was a brand of rims. But I don't understand the steel disc behind it with the cut outs. Unless they were to protect rims from brake dust but that car should have drums all the way around. The pipes on the side probably had cutouts. Perfectly legal until you go to race and you open the cutouts uncapped the pipes and you got straight pipes. A little bit more horsepower. The other thing that goes way back before me but sometime we run a little rich and you pass spark plug or some kind of ignitive they shoot flames out of those pipes. And that is cool. It's real easy to do I did not see on those pipes unless it's underneath. Just put a nut or something where you can screw a spark plug in it and run a hot wire to it but kill switch and hit the switch whenever you want. Step in it let out quickly and step into it again you'll get the flames. It's great to see people whose parents wasn't even around probably when that car was new. Somebody your age to carry on the love of these cars.

I believe those are called Lake pipes. The worst thing to do to the car is having a tarp on it.It traps moisture and will rot the metal and yes we have not had much rain in California.I would have to disagree with your statement about it being well kept.If the engine wasn't torn apart then yes it's a possibility it was kept.

The fact that it has no rust whatsoever, the paint is still in great shape and the car is all there (including parts)… I’d have to say it was very well kept in comparison to other cars I’ve seen. I heard the owner had it stored in a garage for over 30 years before it was recently moved to this ranch.
