Here is my foundation and concealer routine! You may want to use a color wheel to cancel out any discolaration in the skin. Often an orange color helps cancel out darkenss. It's really important to pick a foundation that has the right amount of coverage for you. The better you color correct the less concealer you will need. Hope this helps!

Yes I was thinking the exact same thing. As someone who has a yellow undertone I noticed right away. Not to mention at the beginning of the video around her mouth and chin it looks like she already has foundation on. Maybe she shot another video earlier and just didnt remove it all the way idk?

I did a speech on how to do makeup and got an A. However, my professor wrote this, “You put on concealer after foundation really?” I looked up this video to see if I did mess up since I never used concealer before. The girl in the video does it like I did and it looks really good. Love your makeup.

How the hell are you people still finding time to comment on a video 3 years old about her foundation not being the right color? OMG. She worked at MAC y'all, she knew what color she was. Lighting plays a huge role in making videos. Just like when your makeup looks bomb af in your room but rough af in the car. Go watch her more recent videos for better quality. also, stop by her video a few months old targeted towards the negative BS that is continuously stirred up. I don't see any of us as far up in the beauty industry as she is, keep that in mind.

Thank you so much for your help Jaclyn! I've never been one to wear foundation or concealer because I've always been told I didn't need it, well and I've always been all about my eyes. I'm a shadow lover :-) I got engaged this year and thanks to my beautiful cousin (and bridesmaid) I've been watching your videos to prep me for doing my own makeup for my wedding. My cousin loves your videos and you of course. Now I do, it's not everyday you find someone with a great personality that is an amazing teacher and gorgeous. OMG AMAZING !!! You can see in some of her other videos she explains that when she talks really quickly her chest gets really red but if you look at her actual neck and arms instead of her chest you can tell it's the same color.

She explains in a few videos that she gets anxious and nervous on camera and her chest and face can turn red. Shes also said that when shes off camera and her nerves have settled down her face makeup will match her neck :)

If you just want to conceal it can be the same color or a shade lighter. But for highlighting 1-3 shades lighted is perfect (:

I'm in my 40s and have a couple of lines under my eyes and whenever I put my concealer, it creases. Should I use a primer or do you have any special tricks so it doesn't get in the crease?

Its funny how you looked way better before applying the makeup. The skintone was more pink, which suited you better for one imho, and highlighting that much under your eyes and forehead distorted the proportions of your face, unbalancing it. If anything, I think you should try to broaden the jaw area, and avoid broadening your forehead and middlezone with so much highlight. I Also dont like that much black eyeliner on you, it looks very harsh. Just MY opinion, of course.

+Liz Torres I don't think she asked for your opinion on her makeup techniques. her highlight actually compliments her eyes, and so does the intense eyeliner. and there is nothing distorted about her, the highlight looks very balanced considering her highlight was distributed evenly on her face. and if you knew anything about makeup you would know that you are supposed to apply a generous amount of highlight in the middlezone to flatten your tzone and forehead. and most women tend to keep their jawline narrowed and contoured considering a narrow jawline is feminine and softer

That brush that you're using, I've heard good things about that brush, however brushes never work for me. I use my fingers (pat on the foundation) or a beauty blender, because I like the airbrush look. For some reason whenever I use a brush any kind of brush, it'll leave streaks, sometimes it'll shed onto my skin (even the real techniques buffing brush, though I've heard that more for if you want your foundation to look sheer i believe) they never work for me. I've always wanted to try a stipling brush, but I'm afraid of it making my pores more visible, any suggestions? I'm just afraid of my pore peeping through my foundation. I have really big pores on my nose and I use the porefessional before hand to minimize them.

I've had the same problem...lol....then I tried the Real Techniques Stipple Brush!!!! I love it!!! I can use it with pretty much any liquid foundation or powder...and its a great price - especially if you buy from iherb ..It is my absolute favourite & have 3 of them now:) I think Sigma Brushes are well worth the investment - I like them better than the MAC!!!!!

Hi Molly, No your not too young, just don't overdo it. Your skin still needs to breath and your natural beauty show through. I would recommend starting with a BB cream such as the Garnier BB for acne prone skin. Some brands, I think Rimmel is one, have concealer especially for acne. Good makeup that is very reasonably priced is Essence makeup and Elf make great cheap brushes. I use Essence eyeshadows, highlighter, eye primer, blush and lip pencils and I think they're as good as more expensive brands like Rimmel. Essence products are also not very pigmented so it will be an easier application for a beginner. Good luck and I hope this helps. Cheers.

Elf also has great starter brushes but If you want a little better quality but still a great price, morphe brushes are amazing, same quality as MAC brushes in my opinion.

Whenever I apply my foundation it seems dry and cakey. I always exfoliate before putting on makeup and then moisturize properly, then apply the foundation, followed by a concealer and a face powder. However no matter what I do its always dry and cakey and looks fake. Ive tried different products but MAC Studio fix fluid is the thing that suits me best in terms of foundation. Sometimes I just want to give up on putting makeup

I am having the same issue I went to sephoras and bare minerals and it all looks to fake so I end up just putting on moisturizer or a tinted moisturizer and just doing my eyes because I feel like it doesn't look nice I even tried naked by urban decay and it comes out like water and it still sits on my face weird between my eyebrows my nose and chin

trust me, it is. I wouldn't wear a foundation that didn't match me for no reason. Its because my chest is always red when I film. it makes my neck, arms, & everything else.

well Hon, I am a hairstylist and a makeup artist with MAC, so I know what I am talking about too. Just cause someone puts videos on youtube doesn't mean they are the best or don't make mistakes. I have the UD(Skindinavia) setting sprays love them all my favorite thing no matter the season sticking my face in the air conditioner right after I spray it. Setting spray then ice cold air till it dries!

Jaclyn, I love your tutorials and your sense of humor! LOL! Everyone raves about the Mac Prolongwear concealer, so I bought a bottle. I am not very successful with putting on make-up because I rarely wear it, but the older I get (40's), the more I desperately need it. At Sephora, it was suggested to me that I should purchase Bobbi Brown corrector in Bisque for my purple circles under my eyes. Then, I bought the Mac Prolongwear. While I feel that my ugly purple bags are still there, sigh, the prolongwear seems to crease and make my wrinkles more visible under my eyes. Any suggestions to correct what I may be doing wrong? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)
