Halotron is actually the non-cfc replacement for halon so not nearly as toxic as halon was. The similarity of the name is simply for marketing purposes I think.
Halon doesn't extinguish a fire by displacing the oxygen. It extinguishes a fire by chemically interfering with the combustion process - preventing free radicals between heat, fuel and oxygen from "dancing" with each other. You can have ample oxygen and still have a halon/halotron extinguisher work very, very effectively.
@wcresponder most boat engine rooms have a "fire port" which you can stick the nozzle into before discharging. Ideally you want to cut the fuel and electric supply to the engine and then empty the whole of the contents of the extinguisher into the engine bay and then dont open the cover. halon and halon replacement is not usefull for much else than the engine bay. most dont extinguish class a fires very well which makes them a bad choice for the cabin.
when are we gonna get the technology of a pull pin barrel cooler for mini gun kevlel is a for retardent but the colling of the barral would work like a rail sysytem accesory
first operator in this video used poor technique. You might want to mention the fact that a confined space with a discharged/ing oxygen depletion system as shown could incapacitate the operator.
