Great video joe. My local bee supply house tried to sell me all kinds of expensive stuff for making foundation. This is very helpful and will save me lots of money.

Im gunna have to try this again , I used ordinary dish liquid for release agent , probably to much because the bees hate it , they don’t want to draw at all on it , they build the Combe beside the foundation I made , so question is can the sheets be released with just the warm water only and not dish liquid , my bees don’t like it one bit.
Hi Joe; I appreciate your video and how you got the process to the essential. I have heard that wax sheets done this way can be brittle. When you process them later to put the impression on them do you warm them up again? thx
Hey Joe, great video, can you use another softwood like Pine or should it be a hard wood? Why do people put impressions on the wax if it is not needed - is this to catch new people and trick them into buying the pattern stuff?
If you don’t have a fancy mill thingy, use a rolling pin. It does the same process to the wax that makes it less brittle and more flexible. Don’t know why it works but it does.
Be careful next time you make a vid. That fluorescent lamp is dangerously close to your camera. You do not want to be enveloped in a cloud of mercury vapour.
@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay Have a look at your video where sometimes the camera is almost hitting the overhead fluorescent tube. If I recall, I think I heard you hit it.
