Thank you for creating such an incredibly detailed review. Super useful to be able to link people to when considering Passport.

I learned so much from him. He is the best RU-vidr as far as crypto security and cold wallets are concerned. Very perfect and excellent. May God gives you more grace to continue till the world ends. Please make a video on hashwallet and dcent card reviews

Thanks :) The reality is that there are a large number of smartcard based wallets that are very similar (Tangem, hashwallet, etc) The main challenge with most of them is that you need to enter the seed words into your phone to initialise them. (I did a video on the Satochip + Seedkeeper cards which can avoid this, but they don't have good mobile apps at this time)

Between Foundation Passport and Keystone pro3 If you have to pick one, which one would you pick?
@jpp62200
@jpp62200 2 месяца назад
Btw keystone pro is discontinued you should remove it I guess from your list. only version3 is available. Not sure why you put a lower score, for me the pro3 is better than the pro. Source has been published and bitcoin only firmware released since your review.

I own both. Passport for Bitcoin. Keystone for all else (and some Bitcoin).
@CryptoGuide
@CryptoGuide 2 месяца назад
The Bitcoin-Only firmware just launched for the Keystone Pro 3, with multisig support being added last week. In terms of user experience, I do think that the Passport is a fuller featured and more accessible device as of today, with a more mature codebase, especially paired with Envoy. (Though is also almost double the price of the Keystone Pro 3) On the UX side, the touchscreen of the keystone 3 is much larger, so that will be important for some folk, and it also has the ability to store multiple seeds, as opposed to just having one. (Though whether you actually want multiple seeds or are happy with multiple accounts is your call)

I've had my Passport for almost two years. I didn't know about the Key Manager! Does that operate the same way as a Seed Signer, for same device multisig, etc? That seems very strange that you cannot delete the additional keys. (PS- love your channel)
@CryptoGuide
@CryptoGuide 2 месяца назад
Thanks :) It's basically BIP85 with a nice UI, so it lets you generate seeds, etc, that you can export, but doesn't have an option to make the device set that child seed as the currently active seed. (So you would need additional devices to use these seeds)

Please guide me. Choose good one with good security for me. I am your fan. Ledger x, keystone 3 pro, onekey pro ( keystone and onekey pro are airgaps) please give me the one you think is the best among them.please 🙏☝️
@CryptoGuide
@CryptoGuide Месяц назад
They are all very good, the main question comes down to which supports the coins/chains that you want to store.
@asteriskesque
@asteriskesque Месяц назад
Why do they brick your device instead of wiping it out? If a device gets bricked, is there no way to wipe it out and start over?
@CryptoGuide

It's the same security model as the Coldcard, it's just a design choice.

All are solid options, it mainly comes down to whether each supports what you want to use it with.

What happens if the envoy app is attacked or whatever may happen?
@CryptoGuide
@CryptoGuide Месяц назад
Basically the most likely thing that a hostile version of the Envoy app would do is prompt you to enter your recovery seed into your phone. (Probably with some scary error message) It could also generate receive addresses that below to a scammer, not your wallet. (Hence why verifying the receive address on the hardware device is important) It could also produce malicious PSBT files which send the funds to somewhere other than the address you provided. (Hence why it's important to review the transaction on the hardware device) This is also true of any malicious wallet software.

@@CryptoGuide thanks for the reply much appreciated but I should've been more specific. What would happen with the passport should the goverment become hostile and pressure apple and Google play store to remove the envoy app from there stores. I'm not very familiar with the passport. I have blockstream jade right now and want to try this one out

Hi Steve, Nice work you do our RU-vid channel. So I would like to have a private session with you. I have issues login into my blockchain account. I have what is supposed to be my 12 seed phrase. Have lost my second password. But it keeps saying import wallet and later says there is no account associated with the phrase I am using. Please I have some funds there alongside my sisters because I just recently introduced her to crypto and she trusted me with her money. Please is there hope of a recovery because am really frustrated. Would be expecting a feedback so I can go ahead and book a session with you. Thank you

Then just buy a Ledger or a Trezor :)
@huhu6759
@huhu6759 2 месяца назад
Ledger has no storage space, trezor has no Bluetooth and no mobile app. I will go with safepal S1 Pro. Keystone 3 pro is the most terrible device I have ever bought. 3 pro camera and scancode algorithm are very badly programed. Scanning codes for long time without scanning. It's so annoying. Poor battery power. One transaction drains the whole battery. Ellipal Mini is good also but many people in reddit complained their coins were moved from the device and also on RU-vid people complained they transferred their coins without using the device. Sounds so scary
@CryptoGuide
@CryptoGuide 2 месяца назад
Ledger Nano X has more space than you could ever need, works well with Bluetooth and the mobile app is very good. The safepal S1 should really be avoided... It's never been a good option...

Oh I see. I have Safepal S1 pro, onekey pro, tangem, dcent card wallet, hashwallet card, keypal card wallet ( made by keypal), keystone. Will you recommend keystone or onekey pro or dcent card wallet? I might stick to keystone or onekey pro
