Thank you. I say this because I almost felt hurt when commenters on Pete Peppers channel talked about the “trash” that Goyer or Espenson wrote. To speak of someone’s own work for over 10 years as trash is just so mean spirited but also it comes from ARSE -A Raging Sense of Entitlement which is what a lot of the NTB’s (Not The Booker’s) have, in my opinion. It’s great to hear people appreciate this adaptation, though.

I absolutely love the fact that Goyer is so accessible and happy to meet with online folks doing reviews for his show like your channel and like he did with Pete Peppers. I'm wishing him and the show all the best and many more seasons to come (all the Seasons he needs, AppleTV+),...mostly for selfish reasons (I want more seasons), but also because more great TV and sci-fi needs to be made.

Great interview. On so many channels & videos literally ALL I read a year ago was criticism (actually just whinging) about how Goyer & others “ruined Foundation & created trash.” It amazed me because not one could suggest something in its place. I think Goyer has made an adaptation absolutely worthy of the source. The themes are all there with some terrific new but relevant ideals.

Really enjoyed your interview; great questions and 'wow' Goyer's generosity in his engagement with fandom is brilliant! Did anyone note that Tellum Bond's attempt to 'infiltrate' Josiah was stopped when Salvor, using Raych's knife (aka the knife which carried Hari's consciousness) killed the young boy. Are we really done with Tellum ??? And regarding "diversity"; as a Gay Man, can I tell you how extremely chuffed I was having included in the series such masculine, powerful, moral and capable Gay characters in General Bel Riose and his warrior husband, Glawan Curr. It's really rare to see such well written, non-stereotypical, masculine Gay Men, portrayed with such respect - it literally blew me away! I am so on board with this series, Foundation is quickly moving to the TOP of my list of favourite science fiction series!

Yes. We're done with Tellem. Her consciousness died with Josiah. She expended all her energy just to relocate her consciousness into Josiah, just like she did when she told the story of her second incarnation at the end of episode 8. Tellem was scared because she knew death was coming, and that was the fear she shared with Gaal in episode 6. Throughout our time with Tellem and specifically in episode 8, we see Tellem's current incarnation dying, which is one of the reasons she wanted to relocate into Gaal.

Thank you for thanking David S. Goyer for the diversity. That's what emotionally attached me in a very powerful way to the show. The way it's portrayed is not gratuitous or tokenistic. These characters embody powerful elements of the story, and to make them all white would have been so bland. An entire white cast on any show or even in any image feels manufactured to prop up the myth of white superiority. Kudos to any show that intelligently destroys that myth in a way that has credibility and integrity. It is one of the most brilliant aspects of the show that they completely dispense with the social construct of race, and do it in a way that doesn't seem forced or preachy. There's no message in the way it's done. The Black actresses and actors of color are not burdened with having to deliver any message about race. White supremacy is a ridiculous myth, and the way the show excludes it makes it feel even more real and authentic, not less.

I love the TV series! All the departures from the original books are justified. I've read and appreciated the book series and Asimov's writing is frankly, too cerebral and concept-centric for adaptation to film. A faithful adaptation would have been boring. The unique and stunning imagery of the series alone makes it a worthwhile watch! The acting is superb, the characters engaging and the plot-lines intriguing - not to mention the sets and costumes and effects! I'm sure the good Doctor himself would have loved it! Thanks for this great segment! I've subscribed :)

To understand why Tellem is not the Mule, listen to what Josiah says in the finale. "She's so weak now. I feel her dying with me. Scared. Fighting. Scared. But I'm not." These are callbacks to Tellem's shared experiences earlier in the season. At the end of episode 8, Tellem mentions the energy it took to relocate her consciousness into her second incarnation. "Remember when I told you that I was mistaken for a god when I was a little child? I was so protected by my people, I felt like a prisoner. Most of the time I sat on a crystal platform in our tallest sacred tree, all by myself. Some days felt like an eternity. But it was still a shock, the day I realized my skin was soft and wrinkled like a rotten fruit. I'd gotten old. It wasn't fair, I thought, that my life be almost over, and I'd never even gotten to live. But then I discovered a child. A little girl like I'd been. I had to use all my power to relocate my consciousness inside her. And I was afraid that I'd fall between bodies, like falling between a boat and a wharf, getting crushed in between. I practiced for a year. It was still terrifying, but I committed. This leap through the air into an occupied mind. She was my second incarnation. ... Her parents were so proud. And our religion was renewed by this great miracle. And so, every six or seven decades, when I felt my current body starting to fade, I would select another child. Each new incarnation, my powers grew." In episode 6, Tellem attempts to convince Gaal she's not a threat by sharing her own fear. "I'm afraid of death. A paralyzing fear, beyond the usual." Tellem is dead. She dies with Josiah. Josiah wasn't under the effects of a residual echo of Tellem. Tellem didn't jump into Thalis, the girl with the throat tattoo that is pushed by her people to lead them.

0:32 > this is up there with like my Game of Thrones ... season eight. Could he please return for another interview where he gets asked hard questions? I mean, even the things he said here are horrifying. Even this interview, not to mention his others, indicate what an incompetent Goyer is. He doesn't understand the material AT ALL. 5:19 > you know not all of the writers on the show are really steeped in science fiction by Design because we want writers from Comedy and from drama because it's it's got to work as a drama it's got to the comedic moments But it's HORRIFYING. His writers and the person running them (yes, him) are idiots who wrote some of the dumbest thing possible. Season 1, a room full of academics choosing the sundial over the waterclock because what if you settle a planet with no water. I understand even in America, children are taught the importance of WATER in the third grade. The writers, the other writers in the room, the showrunners, the actors, the producers, the director, the editors, *ALL LET THIS ERROR THROUGH*. In 1983, the BBC got savaged for letting through a scientific error in "Doctor Who" where the Doctor says that the fresh feeling in post-thunderstorm air was due to positive (instead of negative) ions. But now we have "settling a planet that has no water". Goyer is an *idiot*, his show is *garbage* and that's *BEFORE* you compare the show to the original book. These cretins had SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS to get it right and they're idiots. Does anyone ask Goyer why he lied about Asimov's motivations for writing "Foundation"? Goyer says it was the Germans marching across Europe, when the first collected edition in 1951 has Asimov saying he was not at all worried about that because he was more worried about what story he was going to pitch to his editor. Does anyone ask Goyer why the tagline for the show was all about rebels defying the Empire to save it when the entire point was that the Empire was going to fall, *had* to fall and not be saved and Seldon was trying to save humanity 29000 years of horror? Does anyone ask Goyer why psychohistory is treated as psychic magic instead of the work of originally 50 and eventually hundreds of mathematicians instead of just one, his "magic quantum computer that's also a spaceship" and one woman with psychic powers? Oh, they "reread the books between seasons" THEN WHY IS DORNICK STILL TELLING THE MENTALICS PSYCHOHISTORY IS LIKE MAGIC? The VERY FIRST SENTENCE of Dornick's monologue in the very first episode proved that Goyer was going to screw the books, deliberately messing up the very special place where the Second Foundation was logically SUPPOSED TO BE. 8:04 > you know another example was in the books Harry is just a recording. AI was not a thing that existed in the late 40s or early 50s when Asimov was writing I think if AI had existed back then Can none of you see how stupid Goyer is? Asimov started writing the Robot AI stories in 1939! The point of making the Seldon recordings was to provide only certain limited information. Making it an AI that they might ask questions of or try to trick into revealing more detailed information means Goyer DOES NOT UNDERSTAND any of the basics of the books or what they meant! 6:25 > key things and the key characters and and boil them down and think you know how do I expand those while not betraying the core elements of those But he did. He absolutely betrayed everything that was even slightly important in Asimov's books. That the show gets to smear the name of Asimov's work is a horror. And if you called Goyer out for it, he'd never come back, I know. If you called him out for it appropriately, he'd need an ambulance just to survive. Stop worshipping Goyer. Stop congratulating him on his work. Goyer's a monster. Call him out on his trash.

Dude, the show is shot in the UK and in Europe, so it's no surprise that most of the actors are British. That being said, even the black representation among the British cast is impressive for a show of this stature. And even having said that, Season 1 had Clark Peters ( he played Lester Fremon on The Wire). Not surprising given the fact that he lives in the UK. Most Americans (black or white) wouldn't want to have to relocate and live in the UK or Europe for a couple of years to film a project, so it's kind of unfair to blame them for not being able to have more on the show.
