I’ve been going through this slowly over the last couple of years with my now 7 year old. She’s in level B and we are picking up the pace now that she can handle it. The most important thing for me was that she always enjoyed the lessons when she was 4,5, and 6. Now that’s she’s 7 we are doing longer lessons and more often and are getting through it much faster. My goal is for her to be finished with foundations by the end of 2nd grade (she’ll be 8). But I’m not stressed if she doesn’t. It’s not a race with homeschooling :) one of the beautiful things!
I Love this program. My child is in kidergarten via virtual learning. I clash with the teacher because as a former teacher I believe that phonemic awareness should be taught first. The way she's teaching my child is very confusing to her and the standardized testing is 60% of her grade and she has test taking anxiety. I'm looking for a curriculum that will teach and build on the foundations to reading.
We hope you are able to check out more about our Foundations program at www.logicofenglish.com! It sounds like we might be a good fit for you and your child! :)
Love this program. I don't agree with starting with cursive because the books they read are printed in manuscript and we want them to begin reading asap. Manuscript will be what they encounter most when reading. (I'm a Kindergarten teacher and reading interventionist so this is my opinion based on my experience.)
I'm feeling some kind of way, because I notice @Logic of English responded to absolutely EVERYONE but you. Girl, if they can't even respond, leave their curriculum alone! There are others out there that are just as good, if not better. #ProBlack #BlackDollars #AreStillGreen
So if my daughter finished 1st grade in public school, is ahead of grade level reading, should I start with essentials? I think level B would be much too easy but I’m afraid essentials will be too hard. Idk where to start
