Great to see the Four Corners Monument! It’s a really remote spot, but so cool because you know exactly where it is on any USA map! The marker is around 1,800 ft. east of where it was actually intended. -- A basic tenet of boundary surveying is that once a monument has been established and accepted by the parties involved (in the case of the Four Corners monument, the parties were the four territories and the U.S. Congress), the location of the physical monument is the ultimate authority in delineating a boundary. So it became, and still is, the exact legal boundary marker. Previous technical geodetic details are absolutely moot. All four state boundaries lead directly to it. So yes, you got to be in four states at once for real.
