I do try to keep politics and religion etc out of our channel; however, it is a presidential election year in the US and for my homeschool, it is good learning material for us to watch the debates and discuss current events. I encourage my kids to express their views and opinions and ask questions; if their comments get too argumentative I will not include it in my video. I felt the comments made by Finn (14) at around the 12 minute mark were acceptable to be published. Renee

As a experienced commerical fisherman, being below decks and not seeing the horizon can really trigger seasickness. The inner ear is a unforgiving pain in the butt

Looking into the horizon on the front of the boat 🚣 helps me more then anything. The inner ear and the eyes can be awful bedfellows.

@@DerekMurawsky i have been out fishing inshore with a 40-foot cape island style lobster boat in 55+ knots. Definitly not fun, but if I was not able to see the horizon I would have tossed cookies all day (was out for 8 hours that day... my knees ache every time I think of it)

I’d like to make some suggestions: as the kids get older, the journey needs to become more about them, instead of them just feeling like passengers. eg. - enter Jake into some kiting contests and pick destinations based on the circuit. - Spend time on land finding Finn some jam buddies (or enroll him in online music classes) - Encourage Katie to start exploring/experimenting with cuisine (that Keith catches, or from the locals) that is ocean related (I can imagine if she develops a taste for seafood, she could totally open a restaurant later and know exactly which ocean/what culture to source what food from. The back story behind such a restaurant would be so amazing. - your teens could become sailing influencers (get brands to work with them/sponsor them to wear their clothes, test their products, or visit their locations) As much as the initial goal of circumnavigation and family bonding was fun, there’s starting to be a sense of “same sh*t different ocean/port” going on. When you dock, it’s all about provisioning, hiking, swimming, accessing wifi, getting passport paperwork and leisure. And while a life of leisure is good, leisure is not the primary life skill that should be taught to children. I think the primary life skill we should all teach our children is purpose. Finding our purpose, making sure it brings us intrinsic joy, and excelling at our purpose. Whether it is being a good kite surfer, or an excellent sailor, or a great chef, or an excellent guitarist, or a photographer, as parents we are supposed to equip our children with the skills to tap into this purpose. This is what makes getting up every day exciting, and fun, and enjoyable. When you have a purpose. It’s becoming time for the children to start exploring their talents and aligning them with their purposes.

One of the things that I noticed about sea sickness while working offshore was that it seemed more psychological than physical, especially in first timers. The people who were worried about it experienced it and people who kept a positive attitude didn't. When it got crazy bad I would think of it like being on a roller coaster and try to enjoy it. People who were busy didn't tend to experience it either.

It's a great school exercise, get Kate to do an essay on the benefits of having Instagram and it's draw backs. When my kids want something I have them do an essay on it, if they really want it they do the work, and they learn the pros and cons of what they want. I hope it makes them more responsible with it.

Smart idea ! The other day my adult daughter was talking about design on their house addition and how she likes neutral things because your likes change, she went on to give me “her logic” in why not to get tattoos and how she is glad she didn’t as a teenager......yippeeeeee, she listened ! I’m not saying tattoos are bad, just that a decision when your 16 might not be what you want when your 30, 40 or 50 🤷‍♀️

Great work guys! Ms. Kate I think your better with zero social media. There’s a long answer to why, but I am providing my wisdom as my hope you would trust in my response. My mother said to always be different and not jump off cliffs just because “Jack” jumps off a cliff. (She always said Jack- not sure why) Her lesson was that to experience life in a different way than others allows you to know both sides. Otherwise you will only know the side everyone else knows. So be different young lady and you’ll be the leader; not the follower. That’s not real news anyway on is instapoop :-) or any social media.

Thank you for the videos. It always cheers me and my son up watching. My son is 22 and has autism and loves the water. We watch and dream of one day sailing on a boat. I'm sorry for the negativity about the political comments. Personally I am not American but I have family there and love visiting. I think everyone has a right to their point of view and should vote for who they want. Kids should always have a right to discuss politics, it's part of learning and homeschooling. I see the comments and how scared and passionate people are about the election. Don't take any comments too personal. My point of view or anyone else's doesn't have to be the same in order to be a decent human being and to be kind. We are all people with our own stories and back grounds and every single persons point of view is valid and true to who they are. Continue with the videos, David and I will be watching. Bula and blessings from Arizona! Not sure that’s how it is spelled. I remember around 30 years ago listening to Tony Robbins who bought an island in Fiji, said the villagers would say, Bula Bula Bula. People of Fiji are warm and welcoming and what I Love is they are so happy even if they live in a shack. Brings perspective on life. I have always wanted to travel to Fiji and I will soon. Being on a sailboat and the ocean is my therapy, and e can all use it now! Your son is a very wise and informed young man! I subscribed to your channel from watching the Wynn’s. With all the hauling out, and all the upgrades you've made, how come you've never replaced your standard props with feathering props? i agree, with this,,i have wondered for a while why Keith hasn't upgraded to feathering props. i know the Z-boat is big, heavy and kinda slow. Everything I have read says that you might get an extra 1/2 knot of speed with feathering props. 1/2 knot doesn't sound like much, but on a long sail it would knock off several hours of sail time.

420GratefulHippie, electric power? ZATARA will needed a lot (lots) more batteries & Oceanvolt Saildrive motors are not cheap. Along with 🌞days, with little or no 🌤 days. Kids make enough noise, don't need to add wind generators (2) too!

@@stevenr8606 I was mainly asking about the lack of feathering props and the sail drive was just a secondary question in relation to the first. Yes he will need more batteries and I know that Keith mentioned that he needed to upgrade their batteries which I don't think he's done yet. Yes I know that sail drives motors are expensive. Also I never mentioned wind generators.

Beautiful, well done guys. My two cents - if something can fall over it will..I'm not crazy over this but with valuable/essential kit, bungee nets or similar. It's as easy to knock something over with your elbow worth a 1000 bucks as to wait for some choppy weather. But we're all wise after the event, so... life goes on.... Computers....I'm a slob so quite cheap pc laptops for me.. sometimes used. When (not if) they break, less tears..Have it backed up and move on..Keep doing what you're doing all and many thanks for a fine movie as usual 👏👏👏👏👏

6:35 The quality of Apple products and software has plummeted. I have a 14 month old Iphone 10 that was "bricked" by the latest IOS 14 update and they would not do anything for me. It also took a week to get an appointment at an Apple Store. They offered to sell me a replacement for $400 with trade-in of the existing device. I guess I should not be surprised. This mega corporation offshored their headquarters to avoid US corporate taxes and they also offshore production to Chinese sweatshops only to sell their products at a premium price. The CEO loves to talk about what is best for America and virtue signal about human rights too. The audacity and hypocrisy is ridiculous, but common place these days when words speaks louder than actions. #endrant
