Another helpful review. When you are done with all the individual tour reviews, would you consider doing a final short video to summarize and make recommendations, maybe even rank the top 5 you visited?

Military i.d. will get you into most places for free which is a perk. Four Roses was free for me, I missed the tour by 10 minutes but most distilleries will have a tasting only type thing that goes on after the last tour heads out. I think the 4R facility was great, i think if you're truly into bourbon and the brand, it's worth checking out. If you aren't that into all that stuff or limited on time, there are better tours available to maximize the use of your time. Very least, throw it in at the end of the day like i did, still got a free tasting and free glass and could explore the grounds a little bit.

Great episode, Chris! Love the 4Roses barrel strength store picks have, and the Small Batch Select is in my faves this year. Awesome content on this and your entire distillery series. Cheers brother

Four Roses Single Barrel is my favorite reasonably priced bourbon. I like it better than plenty of more expensive bourbons. Great stuff. I'll likely pass on the tour though lol

I've had 4 Roses small batch and it is good bourbon. I do hope to try some of the select expressions.

I wish I could get ahold of some small batch select. The regular small batch was the first bourbon I ever bought or drank.

I heard a lot of people say that about the regular small batch actually. I think it's a great starter introduces you to some rye spice and the classic bourbon flavors. Hopefully some day they will increase their distribution on the small batch select, and you'll be able to pick up a bottle!

Thanks for the review once again. I went to a nice bar last week and tried out a bunch of different whiskeys. The Four Roses Single Barrel OBSV I tried was excellent. I will be buying that again. I also tried a few Buffalo Trace products like Blanton's and Elmer T. Lee which were OK. The Michter's I had was pretty good. The Four Roses really stood out to me.

Hey Chris, was just there last week and had the same opinion as you. Glad I did the tour but not on the list to revisit. Thought maybe if the bottling and barrel houses where on the same property might have been different, but I didn’t have time to visit both. Anyway another good video, cheers!

Absolutely buddy. Couldn't agree more it's unfortunate that they are so far apart literally about 45 minutes apart from each other. Would have been cool to see that side of things at the same time. I appreciate you checking it out!

Great review Chris, really enjoyed it. Utah has only been carrying 4 roses for maybe 2 months now, so been enjoying it quite a bit lately. One of these days I need to go take some tours myself.

which distillery that you have been to has had the best gift shop offerings? Michters?

Michters and Heaven Hill. While I was there HH has the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Select grenades there everyday (limit one per person) . They tend to have limited bottles come in occasionally

Maybe give people your recommendation of the can’t miss stop if maybe your stay in KY is limited. Your information is top notch and you do a great job keeping it real. Yes my plan was at the end of the series to do a top 5 bourbon trail distilleries wrap up episode type thing where I talk about my favorite ones I would go to if it was up to me. I have about 10 I visited last time I was in Kentucky so I have 3 or 4 more episodes to go still!

I did the bottling tour. It was an ok tour, but I happened to be there during the lunch hour, so the production facility was shut down.

@@Bourbinsane yeah, it's pretty cool to see that sort of equipment up and running. Even cooler when it's equipment that I've installed and then see running. (Not at Four Roses, but at Kellogg's in Grand Rapids).

I recently picked up the FRSB and actually find it pretty harsh. I’m not lovin it. I’d give it an OK. I think for $35 bucks there are prob better options and has kinda scared me off of Four Roses. Any suggestions?

The single barrel is 100 proof but in my opinion tends to drink smoother than the small batch (depending on the single barrel you get). Otherwise it is possible 4 Roses just isnt your preferred flavor profile. Stick to Eagle rare and BT for that price if possible.

Bourbinsane Funny you mention Eagle Rare as that has been my go to for awhile now. I always tend to think there’s better out there, but maybe not. I will say the EC Small batch has impressed me though and is a contender.

@@katzsteel ECSmB is excellent for sure. I am a big old forester guy. If you can find the 100 proof or spring for the 1920 it is excellent
