Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon BLIND Review 

I absolutely love seeing videos like this one. I love seeing a $20 bottle that blows away the hosts, appreciating true Bourbon, flavor and enjoyment, then finding out it is a basic Bourbon. It is like getting together with an old friend and catching up. The first Bourbon this type of thing happened with me was re-discovering Wild Turkey 101. I love this channel because of the simple honesty of Blind Tasting. Thank you for these videos.

Best bang for your buck bourbon

My first and only 4 roses was a barrel strength OBSV store pick! It was great, I bought the small batch but haven’t cracked it yet. Looks like I’d better grab a yellow label also! Great review fellas! Cheers! 🥃👍

I usually keep two bottles of 4R on my shelf - the single barrel is my absolute favorite bourbon to drink neat, hands down. It is darn near perfect in my book. Yellow label is the other bottle. It is low proof but smooth with a solid flavor profile, and it only gets better as the bottle empties. It’s a great dram when you want something neat and pleasing but not overly challenging. Small Batch, for whatever reason, just never wows me. It’s not bad, but at $36 I want it to be better than good. I want to like it, but when SB is only 4-5 dollars more, my decision is a no-brainer.

I’m with the host, Yellow Label is always on my shelf because you can’t much beat it in any bourbon cocktail!

This is probably my favorite bourbon I’ve had. Will take recommendations for anyone’s opinion on better ones though please.

Great and honest review,that's why I like blind tests and nothing else!Actually,blind test make people realize how "blind" they are in this world of fake-false claims,brand names..people no longer rely on their feelings,tastes and smells,even eyes..they just try to be and to do what the others tell them to.That's why are people scared,dazed and confuzed after blind test.They feel cheated,betrayed.Most people won"t even accept the fact that something can be good even if it's cheap..In this case,Four Roses is a proof that not only rich people can drink great bourbon or whisky.Greatings from Serbia,land of Great Slivovitz Rakija(plum brandy). I agree with its sometimes hard to go from barrel proof to lesser bourbons. Thought the sweetness was going to take its toll on review. Still need to pick up Four Roses bottle... Soon. It is payday.

Four roses yellow lable is a great starter, neat drinking burbon for my palate and tasty.

For the price point, 4 roses yellow label is a great choice. If you are a more seasoned bourbon drinker, which I am, it is smooth but a little watered down tasting. For a in expensive go to not bad just not allot of strong flavor to it. Is a good mellow bourbon and I would recommend you drink it neat vs with water or rocks.

Blind tasting is the only honest way to do it. Consciously or lubliminally, you are affected by your knowledge of the brand. If you want to know how much, just hit the blind tasting sites and listen to the apologias, rationales, hesitations, enhancements, and qualifications after the brand is revealed. Example here: "cloyingly sweet" (pre-reveal) vs "I'd buy this all day long" (post-reveal). No. Give a description of the aromas and tastes, a grade in numbers or letters, and then the price you'd pay. And then leave it alone. Don't second guess yourself. I know the process intimately, having been an audio reviewer for 20 years and I know the pressure to not give a well known manufacturer a mediocre grade. But ultimately it's your reputation for honesty that counts. The only other valid way to go about it is a long term usage approach. Sip it for 2-3 weeks and identify the characteristics that persist from session to session.

I started drinking bourbon with four roses and liked it a lot. These days while it’s still enjoyable feel like it’s too much cinnamon for my taste (probably why you guys thought it was a higher proof). The price on this one is continuing to climb and now I feel like there are way to many bourbons that wreck this one for the money. On another note I will say that I too randomly stumbled upon WT 101 later on in my bourbon career, years after puking it up in college, and it has become a regular go to as well lol. These days yellow label and wt 101 are the same price so I bet you can guess how many bottles of yellow label I’ve drank recently 🤣

Very interesting! You'll laugh but I have never tasted any Four Roses yet. Not because of any negative notions, it's definitely on my list. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. I doubt that there's anything special about 80 proof. Many whiskies are very mediocre at legal minimum. Rather I think some spirits are so good that they're good even at 80 proof. I'm currently finishing off a bottle of Cragganmore 12 (40%, chill-filtered, E150a added) and I smile with every sip. And it takes water like 92 proof. And that's even though I am a firm believer in NCF and higher proof (and age statements and no added colors).
